The Fibbers are executing a search warrant on the Hinds County District Attorney's office and the Downtown Cigar Company on Pearl Street. Mr. Owens owns the cigar bar.
Kingfish note: Speculation time. Check out this entry for Tonarri Moore in his case: "Sentencing is postponed until a later date. NO FURTHER WRITTEN ORDER TO FOLLOW. Signed by District Judge Kristi H. Johnson on 5/20/24."
Torrence Mayfield saw his case continued last week as well.
Update (7:00 PM): Hinds County District Attorney issued the following statement.
This morning, FBI agents came to our offices. We are fully cooperating with their efforts. The Hinds County District Attorney's Office is fully functioning and continues its work on behalf of the citizens of Hinds County. That has been and will continue to be our primary focus. Currently, we have no further statements.

Not surprised! Do they know he is a Soros DA, though?
Saw a truck load of Fibbers at main post office this morning
All women , must be that DEI hiring in place.
Only problem is everyone of them looked hot!
Cigar shops seem to be popular these days.... especially in Jackson.
More Cigar Bars in the news…. Something smells…
Kind of like when Puffy's place got visited- 50 Cent said:
"Now it's not Diddy do it, it's Diddy done," "They don't come like that unless they got a case."
The Hinds County DA knows it:
"They don't come like that unless they got a case."
Whare's the box truck?
Them are them little SUVs.
Can't haul that much in them unless you got a fleet.
Tony Farese line 1
I smell trouble for someone! Let's just light up a stogie and watch for whatever dvelops.
Bless his heart…
That place is a huge issue for downtown. Loads of cars parked on side of street and in middle of road blocking traffic. Thalia Mara hall is near this and people couldn’t get through that nights they had a sold out show and also it’s a drug haven apparently. Loud music thumping and girls in short skirts all over the place inside
"...a search warrant on the Hinds County District Attorney's office..."
Damn. That's interesting.
What does all of this mean?
Soros didn't pour a lot of money into Owens' campaign because Owens was a "law and order type" who would fully follow the laws of the State of Mississippi...
9:08, I'm intrigued for the answer to that question, also.
My understanding was the Soros crew put money into a PAC for the DA because he was a friend of Colum's, not because he is a soft on crime guy. He has not been acting as a typical Soros DA. He's been pretty tough on crime and not gone easy on criminals.
How does a DA also have time to run a cigar lounge?
Lumumba next.
'bout time. Watching the parade of damned expensive cars on Sunday afternoons, after leaving late lunch hour at TRIO should have been a hint.
This is all for show!!! You and I both know that Chokwe will just get it taken care of and call the people at the top and Owens will walk. Chokwe has more power respect and influence than Tate and Delbert. I’m m betting Chokwe has more pull power than any politician in Mississippi outside of Bennie. Believe me when Chokwe calls these power guys answer.
Lie down with dogs, get up with fleas!
Where there's smoke, there's fire. But who will Owens give up? Mississippi, where corruption is not considered a crime.
Maybe some Madison supervisors are next on the Feebs "to do list?"
I agree with the Fish, I’ve been pleasantly surprised at Owen’s performance. He’s far from ideal, but much better than I expected.
Robert Shuler Smith was the most obviously corrupt DA you could imagine but no one raided him, or even said much about him (other than this website). Go figure.
Who'd he piss off?
Maybe Jody is a whistleblower too……
Is he a member of Chowke's "dope boys?"
Sometimes a person has a criminal record because they are a criminal, not just because they made a bad decision or two.
Get mixed up with someone like Tonarri Moore and you will get some stink on you.
Surely the local and national headlines* will report on this?
*They will wait until Uncle Bennie and Chalkline get it squashed and THEN they will report on the racist, unfounded federal attack on the innocent Jackson DA.
Kingfish, Owens is putting innocent cops in jail! That’s exactly what soros wants
May 22, 2024 at 10:00 AM
Which position do you have on the Dope Boys totem pole?
Oh, the irony!
I bet you $5 to a stack of horse sh*** that polo is in jail right now snitching on Jody
Fake news.
May 22, 2024 at 10:10 AM
I have to agree. Competent performance after the RSS was a major step up but that's like going from standing at the bottom of a six foot deep hole to standing on the ground. As 10:03 AM said corruption isn't considered a crime in Mississippi.
Jody Ownes will resign in 30 days.
Loud music thumping and girls in short shorts. The horror!
Chokwe can hold Jody Owen’s jock strap. I hope Jody runs for mayor.
@10:00 -- you have obviously been spending too much time at the Cigar Bar and let the atmosphere get to your brain - if you really think Baby Chock has any influence or power.
Granted, he and his sycophants thought he did, but learned their lesson when the EPA and DOJ dropped the hammer on his operations last fall following the fall (see what I did there??) of his utility systems.
Baby Chock, a frequent visitor to the Cigar Bar among other places with the crowd, might be expecting the SUV's to be outside his office soon.
Somehow "close, but no cigar" seems appropriate.
This thread is conspiracy theorists gone wild! No facts, no evidence, all wild speculation. Does Jody lease the Cigar Bar to someone who's in control of the premises? Y'all don't know. I practiced law with Jody for years, and I can promise you he's a straight up guy. No comment on this thread cites even one fact that implicates Jody in wrongdoing. Grow up.
what is the DA doing owning a downtown thug bar?
Bill, just shut up. You were supposed to get lost, remember? Never coming back, remember?
He owns the place and is there quite a bit. Not exactly absentee owner.
So how many times over the years have you attacked my stories and been proven wrong? Quite a few times, Bill, quite a few times.
9:49 wins the day for stereotypical commenter here: How does he DA have time to run a cigar bar? And the mouthbreather probably voted for Trump and never asked that question before.....
hello mr dees.....i read all your happy talk.
especially the part that says ''i can promise'' , and '' straight up guy''
sounds like wild speculation to me...........
at one time i worked with bobby delaughter and ed peters.........boy howdy did they have me fooled
look how they turned out
Anything to do with Anthony Fox?
Interesting the feds went to Chokwe's office too.
Wait a minute, Bill Dees said "I practiced law with Jody for years."
Bill Dees is an attorney? In what state?
Ed Peters ran a crooked operation for decades with criminals asking lawyers “How much to buy my case?”. Where were the feds then?
So if Hisona the Maya is a big supporter (and his dope boys) of Mbar but Owens is providing competition, maybe the Maya dropped a hint on Owens to shut down the competition???
Or just setting up for Bar Overhaul with John Tapper? Lol
to1:41pm.........
the feds eventually showed up in about 2007 or 08 after peters had resigned as DA and went into private practice.
at that point peters colluded with and criminally conspired with hinds country circuit judge bobby delaughter to throw a million dollar civil case to the plaintiffs, represented by peters.
you must be kinda young if you dont remember that .
Bill Deese - I guess by your theory on ownership/leassor of the Cigar Bar the same should be applied to the DA's office? And 'other' locations?
Jody only 'owns' the DA office, but doesn't operate it would be the implication / connection?
Nice try, Bill - but no cigar.
You know what's funny Bill Dees? The Secretary of State has a little search function that can return information on Downtown Cigar Company LLC.
https://imgur.com/a/Otl932r
john gotti had the ravenite social club...............
paul castalano had the bergan hunt and fish club.........
henry hill had the suite lounge.............
jimmy burke had the roberts lounge............
owens has the downtown cigar and daiquiri bar..................
this is a blueprint for how corruption operates.
Bill Dees, the feds didn't search Owen's office, and bar, because there was strong indication he was doing something right. So, there's one fact that leans toward illegal behavior.
If this had been a white conservative attorney getting raided by the FBI, half the comments would talk about political witch hunts and Biden’s DOJ interfering with political opponents and how racist they are. Daniel Gardner would write a column comparing the fbi to the Nazi Schutzstaffel. It’s very peculiar.
I'm not sure which stinks more, the Mayor's racism and weed/cigar stank, or the raw sewage flowing throughout Jackson. In any case, the last thing taxpayers and actual health insurance rate payers need is more booze, weed, or tobacco in the People's Republic of Kush.
A full time city DA has a vice club downtown? Henry Potter the banker must love these guys. They've helped turn another Bedford Falls into Pottersville. To be "blunt."
Saw a clip on WLBT. That Clarice Starling still looks pretty hot.
You may be right 2:14.
And because it IS a black attorney, almost every comment on Facebook is immediately accusing the FBI of being racist.
If you can admit both groups sound ridiculous, I won't dismiss you as wholly unintelligent.
But I bet you are not able to really see things through a fair spectrum, any more than the white conservatives you loathe.
"If this had been a white . . . "
Except that it wasn't, so we really have no idea how people would react if all other factors remained exactly the same except for Jody Owens's skin color.
That's just pure, self-justifying speculation.
Yea Bill Dees you said you were done, remember???
Got your feelings hurt when we called out the F A trained provocateur that shot those Ole Miss frat kids the bird, i.e. said F U, i.e. used her incitement tactic to create a reaction.
When things like this happen, an arrest warrant generally follows. See Langston, Joey; and Scruggs, Richard.
2:08pm is right............
the feds need probable cause for a search warrant, only federal magistrates can issue a search warrant.
that means a federal magistrate found probable cause.
something is cooking, and it aint gonna taste good mr owens.
The comments about the Feds raiding Owen's office/bar are officially off the rails.
Apropos for chok's jackson.
@3:35 PM - Mostly correct; both federal Magistrate Judges and Federal District Court Judges may sign a search warrant, but the magistrates do it most of the time.
according to the secretary of state website this little cigar cafe has been operating since summer 2018 with jody owens listed as manager.
wow, a district attorney that owns a downtown thug bar side hustle that the FBI just raided. the FBI was not there to buy a few cohibas or some romeo and juliette cigars.
they were looking for something else and you can bet your ass they found it.
somehow this dont pass the smell test.
This thread is conspiracy theorists gone wild! No facts, no evidence, all wild speculation. Does Jody lease the Cigar Bar to someone who's in control of the premises? Y'all don't know.
Someone has already posted in comments the screengrab from what the Secretatry of State shows for " Downtown Cigar Company LLC ",
Here's another thing that's funny Bill Dees: The Department of Revenue has a little search function that can return information on Alcoholic Beverage Control licensing information on what entity holds a license. In the case of 159 E Pearl St JAckson, the DBA with the ABC license appeaers to be a "Downtown Cigar Company".
I wonder what someone would find if they searched to see who owned the property at 159 E Pearl? That might be more facts of some sort.
“As Jackson Turns!”
owens opened this thug bar in summer of 2018
he got elected DA in summer of 2019
he was reelected about 2023
so he has had this side hustle going since before he first became DA
in all his online bio's he never mentions being any sort of a businessman. all that info is quietly buried at the sec of states office.
he only crows about all his work with the southern poverty law group , which is nothing but a political hacker organization .
one would think he would get rid of his vice club once he became DA , but thats not how the little third world country of hinds county works.
Mississippi Today tweeted this:
UPDATE: Sources close to the federal investigation say the FBI has been examining the city’s garbage contract, though it’s not known if there is any connection to the raids related to Owens. https://mississippitoday.org/2024/05/22/fbi-raids-hinds-county-das-business-office/
"Whare's the box truck? Them are them little SUVs. Can't haul that much in them unless you got a fleet."
Ah, hello 9:27. Put on your specs and you'll see the 'box truck' (in the photo) sitting right there in the photo beside the building.
You were too busy pretending to be Junior Samples to notice.
Headline A Couple Of Days Ago: "Churchill Smoke Shoppe Leaving Smith-Wills"
Illegal liquor sales...
Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms...
Connection?
If a federal judge in Biden America found probable cause holy shit. I don't wanna be Mr. DA right now. The agents must've fully disclosed identities occupations of suspects. If this was only about a cigar shop and its doings, they would not be raiding the office of the district attorney and copying all of his computer files.
The garbage contract smell to high heaven.
Chockway is going to be next!
On ABC news right now!
Ye Haw! Jackson leaders are starting to drop like a dead duck!
4:29 if that’s true maybe we will find out why there was such an insistence that Richards get the contract. Many suspected some under the table stuff.
These rumblings about the garbage contract are encouraging. Even a Democrat-appointed U.S. Attorney couldn't ignore that little piece of open, obvious grift. Especially when it led to a suspension of service for nearly three weeks, with its attendant dangers to public health.
Didn't see anything on DOR ABC site that had publicly facing search.
However, Landroll Details are searchable. I first searched the address of Downtown Daquiri and Pizza and got the owner as CO2 Investments LLC. I plugged that into the SOS database but didn't come back with a business entity. So I went back to Google Maps and put in Downtown Cigar Company and got Perinatal Services PLLC one that had been dissolved and one in good standing. So I checked out the one in Good Standing and guess who is the owner?
https://imgur.com/a/bF33wSD
@2:42 - I actually think the FBI is incredibly professional and does their job well. I don’t think there is anything racist about 99.99999% pf the work they do. They obviously have a case here and I am interested to see what they have uncovered. I’m just appalled at how many Republicans and specially MAGA Republicans are willing to completely ignore the facts when it’s their man getting raided. Anyone who uses their elected position corruptly for personal gain should be prosecuted and given maximum sentences for their breach of trust. Same goes for dirty cops.
@4:05 PM
159E Pearl Street (Downtown Cigar Company) is owned by Perinatal Services PLLC - An Owens owned co.
157E Pearl Street (Downtown Daquiri & Pizza) is owned by C02 Investments - Another Owens owned co.
lol @5:51 the DOR website ABC is a little hard to search.
Try putting in the permit number 041916
Which, according to ABC is issued to BDA DOWNTOWN CIGAR COMPANY 159 E PEARL ST JACKSON MS 39201-3104
Also FWIW ABC permit number 042326
Which according to ABC is issued to DBA DOWNTOWN DAIQUIRI & PIZZA 157 E PEARL ST JACKSON MS 39201-3104
Did you look at what the SOS has for CO2 Investments filings? lol. At formation in August 2011 Registered agent Jody E. Owens II, Member Jody E. Owens.
A curious person might want to look at the property history of both 157 and 159
East Pearl.
Selling Cuban cigars?
The SOS show's the current names as CO2 Investments LLC and the Business ID is 987153. Entity was originally formed as "CO2 Investment Club LLC".
Let's see - the FBI has interviewed the mayor's chief of staff twice, but the mayor is nowhere to be seen. Lying low, Lumumba?
May 22, 2024 at 6:38 PM
I ended up finding it after I posted. Thanks for that though. If you look at the imgur linked at 5:51 PM You'd see I did look at both. I'll let you know if you look up the Inez Owens address you'll see that that is registered to Jody. However on on the PERINATAL SERVICES PLLC his wife is registered to the Van Marks apartments off Old Canton in Ridgeland.
May 22, 2024 at 6:46 PM
Good to know. I didn't search too hard on that.
Right now I'll just make popcorn and await news.
Mayor was at a ribbon-cutting on Meadowbrook today.
Oh kingfish…. what a great speculator you are🤣🤣😂😂
Chowke Lumumba has information on who really shot Tupac Shakur. That is the rumor I heard.
10:00 have you lost your ever loving mind. Chockers is a fool and nobody respects him. SERIOUSLY!!!
The vast majority of the rank in file FBI agents are true professionals. The problem is the top management in DC and the DOJ That is where the corruption is and where those are that are interfering in our elections.
Any idea if these businesses are open tonight?
I hope the FBI agents were able to figure out how to use the new parking meters downtown!!
to 3:49.....''magistrates do it most of the time''..........WRONG....magistrates do it all the time.
no article 3 federal district judge is going to get his hands dirty considering if law enforcement has probable cause for a search warrant , and then proceed to sign the warrant .
remember , federal magistrates are there to do things that federal judges do not want nor care to do.
Quote of the day:
“We are fully cooperating... The ...Office continues its work... That has been and will continue to be our primary focus."
If you believe that's their 'primary focus', please sit on your left thumb and raise your right foot.
A ribbon-cutting on Meadowbrook? lmao
"Saw a truck load of Fibbers at main post office this morning...everyone of them looked hot!"
Well, for sure, all the dudes who hang out at the Post Office early mornings, checking out the mail runners, have obviously got high standards.
here's a reasonable inference on how owens runs the scam............................
you are a dope dealer......
you spend you time every night drinking , smoking cigars and partying the chicks at the downtown cigar cafe
you spend as much money in there as the lobbyists do at tico's during a legislative session.
you become a really good ''cu$tomer'' after dropping about $5000 a month in there , month in and month out.
after awhile you achieve frequent flyer, preferred customer status.
then you get busted by the cops
well, then you talk it over with owens at his bar where you been dropping thousands per month.
and suddenly the case disappears, or is cut down to pretrial diversion, or maybe reduced to a misdemeanor .
thats precisely why owning a place like the cigar and daiquiri bar is , buy definition, and at a minimum , a conflict of interests for someone who is a district attorney.
"This is all for show!!! You and I both know that Chokwe will just get it taken care of and call the people at the top and Owens will walk."
Someone has a confused idea of whom the FBI answers to.
Who caved? There have got to be "persons" that received good advice that stepping up to disclose pertinent information will be in their "best" interest. Although, I am guessing they are not folks volunteering for mission trips or have stellar moral characters. Make the deals....get the bad guys in charge - OUT!!!!
@6:02
2:42 here. And I am no MAGA. I am anything but Biden.
Was just pointing out that your disdain for conservatives (MAGA) should be equally applied to the very much earned disdain that liberal race card hucksters have garnered whilst arguing that this raid is racist.
No matter how hard our leaders try to force diversity, like minded people will seek each other out. And the comments will reflect that. C'est la vie.
yet agin the feds arrive to flush the toilet that is mississippi state and county government.
for all you youngsters out there permit me to give you a list of prior toilet flushes:
the neshoba county civil rights workers murders in the 60s
the sherry murders on the coast in 1987
the sam waggnor prosecution and conviction in the late 80s
the mr horse racing state senator tommy brooks from carthage in the 80s
the operation pretense prosecutions in the late 80s that nabbed 95% of all county supervisors
the louis armstrong prosecution in 1999
the robert williams prosecution also in 1999
the prosecution of that clown on the coast who headed up the ms dept of marine resources
the paul minor prosecution
the 2 chancery judges prosecuted along with minor
the scruggs prosecution
the balducci prosecution
the scruggs jr. prosecution
the bobby delaughter prosecution
the ed peters prosecution
the chris epps prosecution
the all of chris epps co-defendants prosecution
the Prosecution of nancy new and her punk son
and the latest.........the goon squad prosecution
there are probably 50 or so more that could be added to this list so feel free to fill in the blanks
people need to realize what a cesspool of political corruption this place is.
if this many people got caught, think about just how many got away with it.
Amen 10:38.
Other than maybe Louisiana, I think we have the market cornered in the South for corruption.
It seems to be true to varying degrees in all politics now, and rather impossible to course correct. But how embarrassing.
8:13 am
That is reasonable but I’m not sure that’s enough to justify the feds inquiry into banks and lee?
The mayor fought for Richard’s garbage like the mayor owned Richard’s garbage. There is no reason for the mayor to go to bat for a garbage contract - to include shutting the service down - unless the mayor is getting paid by Richards.
I think your theory may be a part of the feds inquiry.
I also think the feds want to see the books of the 2 businesses owned by Jody to see where his revenue comes from? Maybe it’s from thugs? Maybe it’s also that the garbage money moves through cigars and pizzas.
The mayor and Jody are buddy buddy.
Only one not raided ? Richard’s. Wonder what he said to the feds?
@9:37 - can you point me to anyone saying this is racist? I haven’t seen them in this comment section and it’s certainly not a large enough story for political pundits to be discussing. On the other hand, I’ve seen Republican Senators and Congressmen who consistently stick to these baseless and incredibly stupid takes claiming the FBI is trying to assasinate aTtunp and interfere with his campaign. Why do so many leaders of the MAGA movement act like that? You claim to not be MAGA, but clearly you support Trump and don’t like the race card, so you seem to be lying through your teeth.
I am currently looking at various Twitter posts that state such things as, Jody Owens exposing Maga crooks is what prompted this investigation and the chorus of people who agree.
But your TDS and your echo chamber wont allow your eyes to see such 11:17am. And that is fine by me. I wont waste my time on anyone that is not open to rational discussion.
But thanks for your dental concern.
My unbiased teeth are fine.
Are you serious?
Um, you don't execute these warrants unless you get approval from the top of DOJ and they aren't helping the maga crowd right now
"if this many people got caught, think about just how many got away with it."
So successful prosecutions of the corrupt mean the entire system is hopelessly corrupt? I call bullshit.
10:55, Focus that magnifying glass on Texas. You'll probably need a wide-angle lens. In the last 10 years the Texas Department of Transportation lost a billion dollars and wrote it off as an "accounting error."
So despite the legal sides pulling strings and raising sand, who exactly is supposedly singing to the Feds and who is (are) subsequently going to have to get a new tie(s) for a press conference(s)? How deep and who all could possibly be corralled in for a "meeting to discuss pertinent issues?"
I wish the FBI would look into the garbage contract too. Everything around Mayor and Richards and their contracts is wrong.
listen up all you cotton choppers. to do what the feds have done so far with owens requires permission from the top levels of the justice department.
in other words a public elected official cannot be put under investigation or indicted without permission of the department of justice.
and that means the attorney general of the united states himself . not your bleached blond lynn fitch.
if the FBI has gone this far and commited this kind of time and resources, somebody gonna get burned. the feds don't conduct investigations that go nowhere. they are not bozos like the teeny bopper tattooed cop-ettes at reservoir patrol. you can bet your carolina squat truck on that.
owens will soon be added to that list at 10:38.
this is not about the mayor and a stinking garbage contract.
damn, can't you rubes stay on topic?
one thing at a time.
Who is involved (several) and Owens will flush out out shortly but this has all roads leading to the Mayor. It will be his inner circle of shake down artist and as Kim Wade says , “Mr Black for a Livin” types. I would have to think that KF is right on his assumption of postponements for Moore and Mayfield and I’d throw Crisler in there as well. This won’t end well for Chok’s . The only person happy it isn’t him is sittin over in Rankin County. Although Todd Gee has his number !
Mississippi has Louiana bet by a mile when it comes to corrupt politicians . Just think and Phil is going to walk . They caught the crook in Louisiana , he almost died in prison.
@11:46 - I can find a twitter post stating anything you want it to state. If some moron on twitter is calling it racist, they are incorrect. My main issue with MAGA responses to these things isn’t what drunk uncle Bubba posts on his Facebook, it’s senators, congressmen, governors, and the like posting this nonsense that is troubling. I’d suggest you get off of twitter and Facebook, the posts there only make you dumber and angrier as that’s how their algorithms are designed in order to increase your engagement on their sites. You’ve eaten up those posts hook, line, and sinker. They are likely not even real people, but bots that are designed to piss you off. The only people gaining anything from that are stockholders of those companies.
2:29
This is my first time commenting on this thread.
There are some nutty Republicans. What do you have to say for the Dems that called for packing the Supreme Court (see Hugo Chavez and Nicolas Maduro taking control of Venezuela)? What about Dems that wanted to defund the police? Do you live in Jackson or own property in Jackson? What person in Jackson is against Cap Police that isn’t a thug or has their head in the sand? What about the Dems that think it’s fine for boys to play girl sports and use girls locker rooms? What about printing off millions and millions of dollars to fight inflation?
I surmise that the DA has flipped and the raid was just a sham to throw off the players which are being wiretapped. You think I’ve been watching to many crime shows?
If I had to guess (you can call it a conspiracy theory, but it's really just a guess), but for the Feds to raid that little cigar shop, there must be some evidence of major money laundering going on--likely drug money...kinda like the Los Pollos Hermanos on Breaking Bad.
Phil’s not walking. He’s toast. Wait and see.
Rumor has it that the F.B.I. found the Stolichnaya Vodka they were looking for at the cigar bar proving that the D.A. is "Putin's puppet" and a "Russian asset".
@3:33 / that’s a whole lot of “what abouts” that are completely unrelated to this topic, but if you want to know my positions, I’ll humor you.
The Supreme Court has major issues. The Republicans stole a seat from the dems and lied about their intentions. They used that deceit to change a precedent that the vast majority of Americans didn’t want changed. The Supreme Court has a ruined reputation at this point with major questions about who is buying their influence. The recent stories about Scalia and Thomas are concerning. I think there needs to be major reform here as the current court doesn’t have much credibility left.
Defund the police. I don’t agree that police are not needed, but clearly there is a need for major reforms. Take a look at Rankin County or the highway patrol. There are still way to many despicable cops and more reform is needed. I’d be fine with increasing sentences for violence against police as long as the bad officers are also held accountable for their crimes. Policing shouldn’t be an us vs them. If a police officer is caught lying on a police report, that should be the end of their policing career and they should be charged with the same crime they tried to put on the innocent civilian. The good cops should want this as well instead of trying to protect the criminals in their ranks.
Jackson - no, I do not live or own property in Jackson. I do visit Jackson nearly every day for one reason or another.
Capitol Police - This is a weird deal for me. Better policing is desperately needed in Jackson, so overall I think it is a benefit. The only issue I really have with the setup is it seems they are only authorized to operate in primarily white neighborhoods. I think people in other parts of the city can rightfully be upset with that for many reasons. I am also empathetic to people who feel their city is being policed by an organization they have no say in. I doubt Madison would like if the state setup a Soros funded police department that didn’t share their same values. I can understand that feeling of being occupied by an outside force.
Transgender - I respect people’s choice to do as they please. I don’t think they should be allowed to compete in women’s athletic competitions, but I see no issues with them using female bathrooms. I can’t imagine any man willing to turn himself into a female just to spy on them in a bathroom. I’m sure there’s been a case somewhere where an issue has arisen, but generally Clergy, relatives, coaches, and other adults in positions of authority are far more likely to be dangerous for the youth.
Inflation - I don’t see much difference in the amounts spent between democrats and MAGA’s. The difference is where that money goes. I’d rather the money went to people in need instead of the wealthy donors and corporations. We have a growing divide between the haves and have nots and I haven’t seen anything in the MAGA agenda that addresses this. When people in need get that money instead of billionaires, it actually does trickle up since the money is spent instead of being stashed in an account. Reganomics was the major turning point that allowed the wealth divide to grow as large as it has today. At some point, corporations will own the vast majority of resources including housing and that’s not going to be a stable system.
to 3;33 ..........and i hope its your last.
no-one is here is going to answer you stupid ass questions.
They used that deceit to change a precedent that the vast majority of Americans didn’t want changed.
Link?
I’m getting a cartel vibe.
What was going on in the secret room with the hidden door that was discovered at the cigar joint? Dice? Cards? Sports betting? Finalizing of city contracts?
Why don’t we just require annual audits by major accounting firms of the state’s and cities’ budgets. The fraud will become very apparent. That’s not to say that major accounting firms don’t ever participate in faud, but it’s a generally accepted and trustworthy practice.
Press Release: "Due to some unfortunate events, Jackson has decided that an interim mayor must be named. Again, due to some additional unfortunate events, that replacement is currently being investigated. Once all potential interim candidates/replacements have been cleared by the FBI, an interim mayor will be named."
@7:40 - Would you want a link to polls or would you like a link to states’ vote results where the issue has been on the ballot? You can google this yourself as well if you don’t require the hand holding.
All is so quiet about the mayor's involvement in this very hush hush matter. What was found during the search at city hall and where did it come from? Stay tuned for some shock an awe.
That's twice someone has mentioned search at city hall. Nobody is reporting that. Am I missing something? The only searches were at the DA's office and his business.
5:09 pm, where are you getting the news that city hall was searched?
Speaking of the Scruggs, Balducci, Langston, Patterson, Backstrom group.....
Langston's son, Keaton, just got busted for huge 4 year fraud on Medicare (more than $51 million).
"The Supreme Court has major issues. The Republicans stole a seat from the dems"
Where did you get the idea the U.S. Supreme Court seats were assigned? I will hang-up and listen.
All right, you've had enough fun. No more national politics. get back to the subject of the post .
My thoughts are that the people involved, the DA et al probably did not send their money through the government’s laundry service (the IRS)! Too many luxuries and the money reported not adding up!
I’ll put $100 on money laundering.
I will put $100 on multiple elected officials accepting bribe money to make a real estate deal happen for out of town pretend to be developers.
