It appears Jackson Ward 2 Councilwoman Angelique "Deadbeat" Lee held a fundraiser last summer. JJ reported Saturday:
A2Z Printing sued the Ward 2 Councilwoman on September 20, 2022 in Hinds County Court for $15,971 after she allegedly stiffed the Jackson company for services rendered during her 2020 campaign.
Invoices attached to the complaint show A2Z produced pushcarts, mailers, and yard signs. A2Z attempted to collect the bill but did so in vain. The company sent a demand letter to Ms. Lee on October 27, 2021 but she did not pay her bill.
Ms. Lee never bothered to respond to the complaint although service was returned on October 25. The clerk entered a default against her on January 17, 2023. A2Z filed a motion for default on February 1, 2023. The case is assigned to Hinds County Court Judge Larita Cooper Stokes. She has not yet ruled on the motion although she has been severely ill for several weeks.
However, Ms. Lee held a fund-raiser on July 7, 2022. The invitation is posted below.
Kingfish note: The question must be asked: What exactly did Ms. Lee do with the money raised at the event? Was enough money raised to pay the bill?

Payment due when services rendered. They should learn that piece of business advice
Give her a break. Lady has to have money to keep her nails and hair did.
She be a member of the entitled class. Bless her fucking heart.
Deadbeat supporting deadbeat.
Where the money went may be a mystery, but one outfit who did not print the invitations is known.
Be careful, regular commenters, or you'll piss off Uncle Jeff, who could probably dissapear your chatter blog with a text or a phone call. Will be interesting to see if he pays/helps pay her bill. Not sure why he should or would, given that they are a relatively wealthy(compared to most of you here) family, but he may do so out of pity.
Sooner or later people are going to learn not to do business with any part of Jackson government. Deadbeat city with deadbeat leadership. Even Foote had tax liens for unpaid taxes.
I'm not surprised. I'm sure she lived on the proceeds of the fundraiser - that's how she rolls. Remember, she got elected living in Ridgeland, using her Dad's address. I don't expect her constituents to do anything about her - she's in now!
for a $1,000 u get the buffet
for a $500 u get breakfast sandwich
for a $200 u get a cup of coffee
@12:20 what does your comment have to do with unpaid campaign bills owed by an individual?
A democrat that doesn't pay their bills? I'm shocked!
I've seen Republican candidates stiff others too when it came to campaign bills.
Does this constitute an ethics issue? I’m eondering if the Mississippi Ethics Commission would do anything about it, if so.
Crooks do crooked stuff. That is the simple definition and more than enough for me.
One sorry POS
KF: what does councilwoman Lee do for a job?
It is common to see election losers try to walk away from campaign bills, but the winner? Once in office, she should be able to raise that amount of money in 24 hours. She truly thinks she has joined royalty. Common misconception among the local elected class.
Simple solution. Surely Councilwoman Lee followed the law and filed appropriate (required) campaign finance statements. Look at them - see what she raised, and where she spent the funds. I know Councilwoman Lee would not fail to file the reports, or lie on the ones that were filed. Right?
Notice actblue as the processing outfit. Harvesting identity and addresses to launder much larger illegal donations is a racket.

I can't see how Ms. Stokes being the judge isn't a HUGE conflict of interest. The connection is just too close.
No sympathy for Rooftop from me. Live and learn sometimes we have to pay for our education.
When I was in the printing business I would never extend credit to anyone running for office. There is a reason for that, history.

^^^^ Yep, been there... can't believe business ppl can be so stupid.
No kinda lesson like a bought lesson.
Ms Lee, you must contact the people you owe and make arrangements for payment. You are not setting a good example and being a good steward!
I don’t know you or have dogs in this hunt but, I want my money when services are rendered. Half up front from politicians!
Naw I better get all up front. You messed it up for all the politicians in your league!
Most print shops won't do business with politicians without payment up front for the items ordered.
No one knows what this lady does for a living?
The leadearshship in Jackson is a joke ... Robert Graham is the best guy to save Jackson ....
"I've seen Republican candidates stiff others too when it came to campaign bills."
You've 'seen' it, you know of it or you heard about it? Or you made that up?
Really? Name them.
"@12:20 what does your comment have to do with unpaid campaign bills owed by an individual?"
Probably nothing, since there is no post with that time stamp.
@11:17 - surely you jest! Then again, it would remove the Legend from Hinds County politics and that would be good.
Robert Graham - does anyone else remember Airwave?
11:17, no, the leadership in Jackson is what the city voted for, expect, accept and deserve.
ahhhh, Airwave. the $4.2m gift that crashed the city/county E911 system and broke the E911 fund. How soon people forget, how little does the (any!) Auditor actually catch. Graham would always manage to spend time with Nathan and Stacey on claims docket day. Perhaps it was just a coincidence. Graham is no different than the Princeling Antar, just doesn’t gumflap as much.
When is someone going to dig into how Lumumba funded her campaign to stack the council?
