The aggravated domestic violence trial of Jason Todd Martis is continued to October 30 in Rankin County Circuit Court.
Mardis attorney John Collette cited discovery issues in his uncontested motion for continuance. Judge Steve Ratcliff approved the request. The trial was originally scheduled for May.

Will he have to remain in custody?
Todd Mardis will beat this blog harder than Mayor Lumumba has 🤣 just wait!
Since his bond was revoked does that mean he will stay in jail until October?
Will Mardis be in jail until then, or out on bond?
Since this model citizen had his bail revoked, is he in jail or free to roam??
Just like most of you misread the Lumumba/Jxn voters situation, most of you will get this wrong too. Unless the victim/family change their minds, or the video (if admissible) is crystal clear and damning, Todd will not get a harsh sentence, IF CONVICTED. My prediction is a plea deal, anger management/alcoholism counseling, 5 years probation/suspended sentence. At most 1-2 years in a county jail/halfway house.
He will remain in jail until his trial since his bail was revoked.
this gives mom plenty of time to work on her speech to get him out.
Attn 1:30 PM Where did you go to law school, Hinds Jr. College?
I'm with 12:59. Todd will win. I called it with Lamumba too.
The bad guy almost always wins, no matter how many fairy tales you read.
Especially when (in both cases) everyone from the top down is too chicken shit to stand up to them.
Chuck and Todd are two peas in a pod. (Poetic)
Few things funnier than an anonymous nobody taking a victory lap.
12:45, What did Lumumba win? The contest for highest per capital homicides? The pothole lottery? The DEQ prize for most raw sewage released? Most days without drinking water? Tallest garbage pile?
@138 bail was revoked by the court. At the continuance hearing, Collette didn't ask for bail to be reinstated. If he did, I must have missed that...along with the judge and the media and the jail where Todd is currently located.
If Collette thought that bail should have been reinstated, surely he would have asked the judge at the same hearing. I mean judicial economy and all. Unless there is another hearing where justifiable reason can be provided as to why bail should be reinstated, he stays in jail. I've not heard a justifiable reason raised. If Collette thought the revocation was wrong, surely there would have been an interlocutory appeal. I guess once the cameras stopped rolling, Collette realized his client really did violate the no contact order. No means no, shall means shall, and all that kind of thing.
Any one want to lay odds as to whether Todd asked Collette whether he should have any contact with his wife? He had to have violated the terms of his bail at least twice. Once to set up the meeting/dinner, and a second time by meeting/having dinner.
So here is a question. The daughter that is referenced in other posts is an attorney. Daughter is not Todd's attorney. Todd is recorded talking with daughter at the jail (no expectation of privacy on a jailhouse visit). Todd is trying to get the daughter to to coach the wife/mom to get her story straight so he can get out of jail. So, why can't the daughter be charged with witness tampering or witness intimidation or at least conspiracy to commit?
Why isn't a bar complaint filed against the daughter? Why isn't the court holding the daughter in contempt of court for violating the no contact order when Todd is clearly trying to go through the daughter to get to the wife/mom? As an attorney, the daughter is an "officer fo the court" and held to a different standard than a regular citizen.
This is ridiculous, free Todd NOW!!!!
At 2:37 "He had to have violated the terms of his bail at least twice. Once to set up the meeting/dinner, and a second time by meeting/having dinner."
You don't think the could have both showed up coincidentally at an out of the way restaurant in Flora?
Different daughter.
Don't think hearings are always held on such motions if unopposed.
I don't know Todd and don't care to. He might 'win' his upcoming trial in October, but my prediction is that he will lose in the end. Like other meglomaniacs, he will likely beat his wife again (or kill her, God forbid), and he will end up in prison for the rest of his sorry life. Or, somebody will kill him in self defense. Either way, his final chapter won't be a happy ending.
Todd trying to earn good time till October! He will f it up. He has everything else.
Todd's trolls are out again.. hahaha.. Yes, he will stay in Rankin County Jail as bond was revoked and not reinstated. Good place for him to think about what he did to her..might humble him some
I would bet that he will do a plea deal prior to trail in October. Colletti is known of that. Also.. first time offender (getting caught anyways). Sentence would be time served. No contact for at least a year or more. Anger Mgt for a year or more and probation for 5 years
Anyone really think Todd won or will win? In jail until October at earliest, not contact I guess with wife as visitor so I guess that helps her get over fear and dependency. Business problems will increase, lose customers, employees, etc. soon out of business I bet. Wife will divorce him, he loses weight without steroids and bubba bends him over. Yep he won, will win. Ha
He’s scared of real prison. He’s clearly shooting for time served come October no matter the rest of the outcome. He don’t wanna bond back out knowing he would prob get sent to big boy prison when he can ride it out in RCJ with his rankin homies. Wimp

GREAT Response!
entertaining, witty with a hint of sarcasm.
1) When did the mayor win? Yesterday, when agreement was reached for another one-year contract with Richards.
2) Witness tampering? The wife has not been listed as or called to testify at trial since no trial has taken place. Prior hearing doesn't count.
3) Why a continuance? Simple. Time served.
4) Will the 'Todd Thang' surpass the 'Mair Thang' on this blog? Nope. Nothing could. If Jackson actually were to slide off into the Pearl and disappear, that would not get the amount of coverage the Mair has gotten (and will continue to get).
Hair color, tanning beds and steroids are not on the menu at RCJ! Does RJC have a work program for violent offenders? We really have a chance of seeing a new Todd in 6 months! My bet is he doesn’t make it that long, he will find a way to screw it up! Kim and family this is your chance to truly feel what freedom is like, no manipulation, beatings and threats!
What people like 7:12 need to understand is that women like Todd's wife dont need time to wise up and taste freedom.
If Todd were removed from earth she would find another Todd within weeks.
Abuse is wrong, but some women confuse that sort of thing with love. Very few ever truly reform and learn to break the cycle. Based on her testimony, she is not even close to such an awakening.
to 2;42........you are a total moron.............
..a bar complaint against his daughter?
bar complaints are filed against lawyers and are heard before the ms state bar association.

What many of us realize is he will not got a harsh sentence, it will likely be some type of plea deal with time served being part of that deal and maybe a short term served in county jail/halfway house. Listening to his wife's testimony six months after the incident, I doubt she will divorce him. So no he may not "win," but he likely won't 5-10 years in Parchman.
What if I were to tell you this whole circus (dinner in Flora and the continuance) has been a lawyer-concocted scheme.
In order to avoid the penitentiary, it was necessary for Mardis to serve time in a local lockup. The best way to get that done was to be arrested for contact which violated a judge's order.
The scheme did just that. Meet the wife, be seen (coincidentally) by a cop, get arrested, get thrown in jail, get a continuance, ask for no bail reinstatement, serve six or so months in jail, head to trial, be convicted, sentenced to counseling and time served, avoid prison.
Sound crazy? Lawyers are slick as lizard shit.
@2:37 if I remember correctly, the wife testified that she “couldn’t count the number of times” they’d been together. Hell, I figured he more or less moved back in even if under the cover of darkness, a different truck, a dark hoodie, etc.
4:52 you are giving a lot of credit to a man that isn’t very smart! He will get 6 to 10 and serve half that. The judge as seen or read something because he made the comment of “she almost lost her life the night in October”. Not to mention he didn’t want to read the local paper of Mrs Mardis being dead! This was a brutal attack and the evidence is there! The man better plea!

^^^^^Just curios what evidence have you seen? Allegedly there is a video, but it hasn't been released to my knowledge, we don't even know if it will be allowed in the trail. Have you seen statements from the family supporting the attack? Are you qualified to determine and testify that her injuries are from an attack rather than an auto accident (or ATV accident as I've heard she told the folks at the ER)?

^^^^this guys gets it.
to 4:52...........35 years prating criminal law here..... mr 4;52, you are not nearly as smart as you think you are. county jails are the absolute worst place to do time in pretrial confinement.
conditions are much better in a MDOC facility.
@8:19am Todd admitted to hitting her with an open hand. You don't get strangulation marks from an auto accident. And, how do you explain her hair being pulled out by the scalp. He's going to serve time. If not, he will do it again and kill her. All of you Todd supporters are blind!!!!
4:52: Get some sleep. Hallucinations usually start around the 3-day mark.
8:19, Find a new tough-guy to worship. This one is done for a while.
Ha-ha! Anyone who thinks Todd is a criminal mastermind who orchestrated this whole thing to get less jail time is either insane or doesn't know this super fake poser well at all. Todd is so damn dumb that he literally thought he could get off by concocting some ridiculous story about how Kim got her injuries but once again his stupidity got him in more trouble because his equally low IQ wife isn't much of an actress and couldn't remember the lines he fed her. The really funny thing is that if he had left it alone, he'd be going to trial on 5/1 and probably would have gotten out of it with very little punishment. Ha-ha, what a dumbass!
The funny part is Collette draining Todd's checking account with billable hours. The longer he can drag it out the more Todd has to pay. Todd's bragging about how rich he is costing him now!!!!
Well said
Well there is definitely plenty to hate about Todd but some of the people here are more motivated by love and a sincere desire to save Kim. Many of us have witnessed one of Todd's violent rages and truly believe that he is capable of killing her but Kim can't see it because she is a battered woman with few career options who doesn't believe she can make it without him. Part of an abuser's methodology is to convince the abused person that they are worthless without them. BTW, Todd won't mean to kill her and he'll be real sorry that he did once it is over but she'll still be dead. The only thing that will save either of them is for Todd to have a nice long cooling off period in prison.
That time has started
The whole ordeal is sad, how submissive the wife is and defending him after he put her in the hospital. She basically blamed herself in revocation hearing, but they both cheated on each other. The fucking narcissistic asshole needs some type of time away, or else he will not learn since he thinks he is always right. Just overall a sad situation, but true justice does need to be served.
