Watch Jackson City Council President Aaron Banks attempt to discuss on his radio show the EPA Emergency Order on the Jackson water system. Oh well, at least he isn't talking about passing out guns and badges to everyone.
No, Mr. Banks, it was not a "letter" nor was it a warning about e. coli in the water. It was an order telling Jackson to fix its damn water treatment plants. The EPA said monitors, detectors, and disinfectors didn't work. The plants lacked key technicians. UV light disinfectors didn't function for weeks and months at a time. Hell, the UV disinfectors at the Fewell plant didn't work for at least half the month of January 2020. But hey, its all about having a conversation about the conversation.

I listened to all 7 minutes of this dribble. All I can gather is they talked to “somebody” in Washington D.C. and people(s) need to stop pouring grease down the drain. On the positive side, this was an excellent ad to get people to move to the suburbs. Don’t waste 7 minutes of your life listening to this tape.
Kingfish, you really should supplement this video with the movie clip of The Dude's explanation in the limousine....
The fact that the mayor didn't tell the City Council - plus the public - about the EPA'S order to stop delivering polluted water to residents & businesses makes me wonder what else the mayor is desperately trying to keep under wraps.
This is why Lumumba didn't bother telling the council. They wouldn't have understood or offered any solutions.
How is what gumflapper has done (withholding an administrative edict from his board) any different than what the asshats in Flynt, Michigan did? When will the news media ask him about his decision to keep his citizens in the dark?
All of the junior players in this entire Jackson debacle have, for 55 years, been accustomed to Uncle Sam coming to the rescue. Why do any of you think they shiv a git about water, infrastructure, unemployment, crime, housing....?
.... makes me wonder what else the mayor is desperately trying to keep under wraps.
You mean like his required campaign finance reports?
For those asking he is not related to Karl and Fred.
So what happens now? Does the EPA have any enforcement authority? What entity gets involved if EPA orders are not fulfilled?
@3:44pm Good question....but am afraid with the current state of affairs at the national level, a bailout will be coming....eventually. Accountability is out the window with Jackson, and its cultural makeup makes it impossible to discuss righting the ship without being called racist. So, they'll likely throw a hundred million at it, claim victory, leave the field, and nothing will have changed.
Jackson, Mississippi is truly in some trouble - Flint, Michigan 2.0.
So much for the mayor having the most transparent administration ever ... remember that line? Or lie, I should say
Banks is Banks. He will make some noise but then he is so scared of getting Tommed or making the Stokes crowd mad that he paralyzes himself. He likes being liked.
