The fight to replace Jackson Ward 4 City Councilman De'Keither Stamps heated up yesterday as some major players endorsed Jacquie Amos for Tuesday's runoff election. Her opponent is Lumumba-endorsed candidate Brian Grizzell.
The Mayor is going in hard for Grizzell and incumbent 88 year-old Charles Tillman in Ward 5. Mr. Tillman faces Vernon Hartley tomorrow.

The natives are restless.
And so are few that have real power.
Seems this is not working out like the Lil'Mayor thought it would.
Who the hell covets an Espy endorsement?
Let's see - just listened to all these problems in Jackson, especially in Ward 4. Problems with crime. Problems with safety and security. Problems with potholes "as big as this truck". the so-called 'crisis' with the water system. On and on - granted, they are all true.
But - who introduced her and said she was the solution? The current councilperson, Dekeither Stamps.
So, with all these problems, all these concerns, all these failures - while Stamps held this seat, should we take his recommendaiton?
Hell, I was for Amos going into tomorrow, and with Baby Chock on the other side probably still am. But there was a lot said in this press conference that is making me think twice.
Oh well. So much for that.
