Congressman Michael Guest (MS-03) has announced the details of the 2021 Congressional Art Competition, an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in Mississippi’s Third Congressional District and across the nation. All entries must be original in concept, design and execution and may not violate any U.S. copyright laws. Nero (Guest and the rest of the DC elected crowd) fiddles while Rome (the U.S.) burns.
If Guest is sponsoring it, I will bet dollars to donuts that there will be at least one submission that features the Punisher/Thin Blue Line mashup.
I've wondered if/when we'd ever hear anything out of Guest. I follow the news as closely as anyone I know, and this is the first thing I've seen him "do." I'm not pro/con Guest, but why can't he be MS' version of a Jim Jordan or a Louis Gomert or a Devin Nunez, etc.? You know, someone who is actually out there working for the State of MS / The U.S. and saying something of substance. Like Wicker and Hyde-Smith, he appears to be a go-along-to-get-along kind of Republican.
i would rather he give us a press release where he has initiated some sort of inquiry into 2020 voting irregularities, or Hunter and Joe Biden’s influence peddling corruption or maybe even some sort of official inquiries into the Jeffrey Epstein case.
Nope he is asking for finger paintings like a comfortable and obedient swamp creature.
7:23 I agree. At least Guest could co-sponsor such work even if he doesn't do the heavy lifting. The voting record of Guest is pretty good but other than voting I don't know what he does, besides art contests.
In Mississippi - "he seems nice" gets you elected and re-elected. Fitch, Hosebert, Guest, and others are always doing these sorts of projects for the small-minded locals who think this way. A "do-gooder" works in Mississippi....not "leader"....which is who gets the arrows in their backs from the local rubes. Mississippians are almost proud of being poor and inept in the nation's eyes, it's their badge of honor. Anybody making some sense? Anybody proposing progress? Anybody fight for moral/financial justice? Oh no you don't!....crabs in a barrel.
@6:52
Not really crabs in a barrel because you can get out. It is easy to be comfortable and stupid in Mississippi. Those that can’t stand the stupid can leave. I have found it very profitable to live here. In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.
Actually, the crabs in the barrel is an apt comparison, and it's the very reason for the brain drain. You can be a talented, innovative, hard working person of integrity - but if you're not connected and willing to play inside ball in the land of the blind that is Mississippi - it doesn't matter if you have two eyes.
