One thing we know, his replacement won't be a braying stupid-ass Donkeycrat nor someone not supportive of Reeves. Congrats on your inconsequential scalp!
wow, how unfortunate given that this was all a huge misunderstanding.
Bring on the next drunk, babbling Trumptard to lead us!!!
Did you purposely publish this after JT went off the air? You know he would have read the article/comments verbatim on the radio.
Picky people pick John Polk! Invertebrate for Pro Tem!
How did Burton get to Jackson?
I’ll drink to this-
The latest I heard was that he might take over the leadership role in the Mississippi Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Liquor distribution. They have room for him to sleep there so he will not have to drive.
Burton has completely failed at whatever he was supposed to be doing, or to put it on a level Burton would understand....he has achieved a .14 on the "do good" meter.
With leadership like this, NO wonder Mississippi is LAST in everything.
Head over to Ticos tonight and witness some of Burton's colleagues in action.
If this happened to me, I’m not sure if I would ever want to drink again or I might fall deeper into the abyss of whiskey river. I’m torn
Hello Snowden?!?! You there? Your turn.
He needs to resign completely and check himself into rehab, before it's too late. It would be so refreshing if he admitted publicly that he has a problem and needs help.
If it turns out that he is acquitted or that the prosecution declines to prosecute, what will you people say then? You people have convicted Burton on an allegation. You are the same people who squealed foul when the Democrats wanted to convict Kavanaugh of the allegations against him because the allegations were made. You people need to learn something about what the presumption of innocence means, because you are no better than Democrats. Like freedom of expression, the presumption of innocence doesn't mean a thing unless you apply it to the people you don't like. It would not surprise me if Burton is acquitted, from what I have read of the facts. In that sense, his resignation was premature. You could at least give the man credit for putting the interests of the senate above his own. You could at least give the man credit for not possibly causing political drama in the senate by not resigning, which could have resulted in a very public remonstrance to Tate Reeves had the senate refused to unseat Burton as pro tem.
...because you are no better than Democrats.
A great many of the trolls here ARE Democrats.
"Innocent until proven guilty" simply means that the burden of proof is on the prosecutor.
If it walks like a drunk, talks like a drunk, and looks like a drunk...
10:54, like you I believe in the presumption of innocence, but the fact that Senator Burton resigned his leadership post and is not running for reelection tells me that there's a chance he's guilt, never mind that in his resignation speech he admitted to personal issues that need to be addressed.
BUT, He is still going to work this session (translation, draw a check, benefits, perks from lobbyists, etc). This is NO sign of contrition. Just get him out of there and be done with him. As they say in the Mayberry barber shop, (a pretty good comparison) NEXT!!!
Terry obviously has a serious problem and I hope he deals with it.
However, I'm wondering...at this stage in his illness, how many times has he shown up for work during session, inebriated and virtually unable to function? Did none of his desk mates, friends or those in conference with him smell it or suspect he was drunk on the job? If not, that's amazing.
