They dragged it out just long enough for him to probably say the hell with it. They caught him napping the last time, it won't happen again look for him to win win.

Banks should have to reimburse Bishop for the legal fees it cost to cover all of this nonsense.

A message from the grave...

12:29 - Banks was within his rights to sue. Bishop's legal fees were covered by those who believed he would bring honesty and transparency to MadCo government. Most wish they had not contributed when they realized they'd been deceived.

Lackey failed the people by not handling this in due time. No matter who is right the election was 3 years ago.

A very proper and correct ruling. Should have been made when the first summary judgment filing was made - in the first major hearing in front of Judge Lackey. He deferred at the time, indicating he would deal with it later.

The initial filing by the great elections attorney, Dorsey Carson, was a Writ of Mandamus, not an election contest. The very specific requirements of an election contest petition were skilled over - reminiscent of the McDaniel "contest" - instead asking the court to grant the desires of the plaintiff and ignoring the laws.

While the Banks team should be scolded for dragging this out and increasing the costs, the court should have ruled on this long time ago. Bishop's team should have continued to pursue the motion - but that would have cost the infamous "Judge" Jim Herring the opportunity to continue his outrageous billing.

Three years too late.

Now we just need to get rid of Bishop with a supervisor that actually wants to stop the madness and make Madison great again!

I'm an attorney, so i'm going to comment on the legality of everything anonymously.

Signed,

Every Attorney in the Metro who couldn't make it.

Those of you who mention that it's been three years are wallowing in ignorance. The law isn't concerned with how long Bishop has occupied the contested seat (two years and nine months) or how long the players have farted around kicking this can down the road.

Maybe we will get to see some language from the court as to why the request was granted - rather than listening to you yodeling experts opine as to the merits, the incompetence of lawyers and who failed whom and when.

Yes, Banks was part of a long-time group of finaglers. Yes, Bishop rode in on a white horse but the first rain that came along revealed a black hat and a dark brown mule. As a result, the county has stalled now for almost three years while Bishop sidles up to a goofball who aspires to be Ridgeland's mayor and a man whose vote is always for sale.

This is what we get when we turn a multi-million dollar business over to people with high school educations who have never met a payroll, hired a workforce or developed a business plan.

Keeping Banks out is more important than getting rid of Bishop.

5:55, would it make you feel better if we put our Bar # at the bottom, or the top, of our posts.

Be glad to if it would really make you feel better about some of the opinions that are expressed herein. And some of us have kept up with the details of the case, the arguments, and the facts. Are you just jealous that you didn't make it in the profession, or that you just haven't learned to read and comprehend yet?

Did Dorsey lose again?!?

Damn Dorsey, you are like Ole Miss' defense, you are loud, obnoxious, ineffective and get run over all day long.

Here's to you Dorsey, you make everyone look like an All-American 5 Star Croot!

I'm not so sure Bishop is a bit better on the Board than Banks. At least with Banks, everybody knew upfront what they were getting and what he was up to. With Bishop, we have to wade through all the BS to figure it out. But, with both...we wind up at the same place. Screwed as a county.

In a related matter, it's been revealed that Ronny Lott has talked Bishop into growing a pony-tail. He'll be the only supervisor in the state wearing cowboy boots and a pony-tail.

So 6:00, please run for office so that you can truly make a difference.

Meanwhile, Phil Fisher's case against Hinds County's redistricting in 2012 lives on.

Banks may have lost the battle but he will win the war, and his enemies better watch out, he is not going to be a nice guy when he returns.

Population growth in that district does not favor Banks. Sorry.

One might say, Banks' got held off just long enough to keep Bishop in for the term. Why didn't the last two judges see this pre-trial motion victory? It takes a judge from Natchez to put the fix in; swing for the fences next year Banks!

The supervisors in MadCo blew their option to redistrict during the first three months of the new board. That was the 'Bishop Transition' period back when he was doing sensible things, before he let Steen get in his head. Now redrawing the districts is impossible.

Here's a quick view of the districts in Madison County. Tell me lines don't need to be redrawn. Some districts are so small you can literally walk the perimeter during daylight hours of a single day.

913 - district sizes are based on population, not geography. Yes, the population density is much bigger in Madison (the city) than it is in Camden! Shocking. Compare the districts in Hinds County - McQuirter (D2) goes from SW Corner of county at Utica, to NW corner at Pocohontas, and down into the city to Millsaps. District 1 (Graham) runs from County Line Road south to Belhaven. Same scenario - same reason.

Get over it and worry about real issues.

Before the last election you had 5 sorry supervisors that were Stepford wives for Banks and Rudy Warnock. They were in cahoots to let Warnock run the county and rip off the treasury as much as he wanted. Then the fed up electorate kicked out Banks and his sorry puppets (Howland and Crosby).

Trey, Sheila and Bishop came in with four campaign promises. First was to fire our crooked "County Engineer" Warnock. Next was to stop the effort to build the bogus Warnock pork-barrel $50 million county airport for private planes. They also promised to flush the $3 million Griffin resort lake in the middle of nowhere that would not hold water. And last was to fix our damn roads.

AS it turned out, only Bishop stayed true to his promises. Trey and Sheila voted to give Griffin ANOTHER $500,000+ for his lake. Much more money will be needed before this disaster is ever completed. In return for their bribe, Griffin voted with them to strip most of the road money from Bishop's and Griffin's districts and send it south.

I am not sure where all the Bishop haters come from but if anyone came in on a white horse that turned brown after the 1st rain, it was Trey and Sheila for selling out to Griffin who now is the real power on the BOS. If Bishop had broken his campaign promise and bought Griffin by giving him a half million dollars for his lake, the screams from Sheila, Trey, and the Madison County Journal would have been incredible. Since Mayor Mary's puppets did it, there was not a peep from anyone.

If Banks gets back in next term he will again team up with Griffin and Steen and the BOS will return to the same corrupt mess it was before the three white hats showed up. It is a shame Trey, Sheila and Bishop could not work together for the good of the whole county. They missed a great opportunity to do good. Egos and political bullshit are not compatible with good work.

1140 - great story. But you skipped a few details about yourself - err, ahh, about Bishop.

He was the first one of the three to bolt - sided with Steen and Griffin on the BOS president against Trey. Did you forget that one? Then for months voted in block with Steen (of course Paul going along as long as he got a few crumbs). Then when Bishop was in deep dodo with his few supporters tried to come back and make nice with his original two compadres.

Didn't last long though. Went back to Steen'a control. Led to Trey cutting his deal with the devil after Steen's plan to take all the road money from Baxter, and to a degree, Jones.

For $500k for oaul'S lake, Got Steen back out of control of all the cointy. Not a bad deal frankly. And like it or not, the northern part of the county does deserve some little piece of the pie, and this money for the 'lake' was cheap. Probably saved much more than what Steen would have stolen to begin with had he stayed in control.

The shame of it all was that in the beginning Gerald refused to work with the other three - Baxter, Jones, and Bishop. But since they wouldn't put him in charge he had to spend a while scheming to get Bishop to flip. AND flip he did. And then flopped. And flipped. And flopped. Anybody got any idea what Bishop will do tomorrow? What he tole you yesterday was only good til sundown. As Annie would to sing 'tomorrow's a brand new day". Certainly has been that way with Bishop.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
