My condolences to the family. Hopefully the deceased was an organ donor. He can still save a lot of lives.
That intersection of FLC, Church rd, mt Helm, and old 471 is a mess...
Wrong location. It was at the entrance to Buckingham...but, yes, that’s a terrible intersection.
How many people have to die or get hurt on this road? It is crazy how people act when no traffic enforcement taking place. This road is worst than I-220. Pray for all families that have been touched by these accidents on Old Fannin Road.
The two deaths on that road I am familiar with are this one, which involves a motorcycle. The other involved ejection from a Jeep with a young driver using alcohol (underage drinkers). I don't see how "traffic enforcement" other than the much hated DUI checkpoints would help. And, I get sick of the constant pro booze crap here. Just sick to see the huge increases in cirrhosis and liver failure among 18-34 year olds now being reported, too. It's fun to ride a bike or Jeep, and I've owned both. But lake areas on summer weekends are crawling with drunks, and he who is less protected loses the battle in a collision, regardless of who is at fault. And spare us the preaching about Prohibition. We are the fattest, stupidest, drunkest state in the nation, already.
I'd like to see the reports of cirrhosis in the 18-34yr olds there buddy... Because every national report states that drinking has declined among the 16-24s for a good while now. Happening in states with much less alcohol regulation, soooooo..... Your prohibition speak is pretty much lame-duck "mama said" bs these days, and everyone knows it.
Not the same poster as above, but previous poster is correct. Declination in drinking does not mitigate the fact that death, or mortality from liver disease is, indeed, on the rise in young people/adults. This BMJ study sponsored by the National Institutes of Health whose statistics were used and corroborated by the CDC finds that deaths of 25-34 year olds are increasing, and it is alarming the medical community. There are many reasons for this that about which are conjectured in these articles. This information in no way has anything to do with this tragic accident or anything else that has happened at this intersection. This is merely a response to the previous poster.

One woman is dead and one person is in the hospital after a vehicle accident Friday in Rankin County. The Rankin County Sherrif's Department received a report of a one-vehicle accident in the 400 block of Fannin Landing Circle at 5:15 a.m. on Friday morning.
Rankin County Deputies, the Reservoir Fire Department, Rankin Emergency Operations Center and Pafford Ambulance Service responded to the scene. There they found a Mitsubishi SUV that looked to have run off the highway and rolled over on its roof.
The driver, identified by Rankin County coroner David Ruth as Janell Nicole Taylor, 23, and an unidentified passenger were both ejected from the vehicle. First responders were unable to save Taylor, who succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the accident. The passenger was transported to University Medical Center and their condition remains unknown
The accident is currently under investigation by Rankin County Deputies.
I just wish more people understood geography and road names.... the roads might. E safer if people actually knew which roads to talk about....
Why do you always mention Pafford ambulance? Do you own the company?
7:19 what's your problem? He's quoting the release sent out by the sheriff. Her's not making any sort of endorsement.
In the law man's world, they call for the ambulance so often and it is always by the name of the service. For instance it goes like this, Rankin 99 to Dispatch, go ahead 99, roll Pafford 1x code 3. Or some such thing. On TV you hear them call it the bus and when cities have the fire dept doing it, they may say the same thing. Not really anything anyone thinks about unless you hate Pafford.
Low traffic, serene county road, if you can drive worth a flip, you won't wreck. Every wreck = human error.
