The Ridgeland Police Department issued the following statement.
The City of Ridgeland’s contractor will begin work on the rehab of East County Line Road from Ridgewood Road to South Wheatley Street on April 2, 2018. The contractor will maintain at least one lane of traffic open in both directions. We expect delays for motorist over the next 30 day period due to these lane closures. We also expect brief closure of business access during the course of construction. Please reduce speed in the construction zone or take alternate routes if possible. You can contact the Public Works Department at 601-853-2027 if you have any questions. Thank you.Kingfish note: Couldn't Ridgeland have waited until Academy and TRU closed? You know, the business access thing.

Lake Harbour and County Line will be messed up? At the same time??
@11:22, Ridgeland is about to reconstruct Old Canton Road from County Line to the Trace too. Fun times traveling on the east side of Ridgeland this year.
If by "roadwork" you mean putting barrels blocking an entire lane and not doing any work whatsoever, then you would be correct that it started today.
Damn 1:59, what do you expect - there is a process to paving projects that means everything doesn't happen instantly. Barrels first; then equipment has to be moved in, followed by what you would consider to be 'construction'. Wish you were a road contractor - then we wouldn't have any inconvenience because you and your magic pixie dust would get it all done in a day.
@3:17, In true construction worker fashion, I assume you wrote that post while 7 other people stood around you holding shovels and watching.
Serious question here: How is it decided which municipality will pay or whether there will be a split since the road is both in Jackson and Ridgeland?
@6:51,
I may be wrong, but I seem to remember when this project was announced about a year ago the it was stated that Jackson and Ridgeland were both providing funds but an agreement was made that Ridgeland would handle the contract administration and construction process. Others may have more information.
From what I understand from a article last year Jackson and Ridgeland will split the cost of the project. I think this will be good for both places.
7:16; That may negate Chokwe's ability to put two 'project managers' (aka supporters) in white trucks at $75k prorated. Or it may not.
People complain about potholes and people complain about construction and progress.......in today's world you can't make anyone happy!
Ridgeland and Madison don't 'employ' project managers to oversee every expenditure. Jackson does. May be tough for Chokwe to run that through the Ridgeland accounting system.
