Hinds County Court Judge Melvin Priester, Sr. recused himself from the Robert Shuler Smith Case.
There is no motion for recusal in the docket. Perhaps Judge Priester recused himself after making this comment when he postponed the preliminary hearing for Christopher Butler:
Because of the raucous and unprofessional behavior by Mr. Smith, District Attorney.
The case has been reassigned to Judge Larita Cooper-Stokes.

Stokes will, or should, recuse based on her husband's public comments about the case.
Next question, will Judge Stokes recuse herself due to her husband's multiple comments on Smith's arrest and the Butler matter?
This case will probably be assigned to a retired judge. Smith has practiced before all of the sitting judges.
Look for Larita to do the right thing and recuse as well.
She's making too much money to risk sanctioning over RSS sorry butt and she sure doesn't want her name associated with it if he gets convicted.
First, this voids the affidavit for arrest. Second, the case goes to the senior county judge, judge skinner, but county court can only hear appeals of justice court. How did it skip justice court?
@3:20 According to MSSC website: ".....County Courts have exclusive jurisdiction over eminent domain proceedings and juvenile matters, among other things. In counties which have a County Court, a County Court judge also serves as the Youth Court judge. County Courts share jurisdiction with Circuit and Chancery Courts in some civil matters...." Evidently they have more authority than 'just hearing appeals of justice court'.
And, how does the recusal of Preister void the affidavit for arrest.
recusal voids arrest? What a stupid comment.
County Courts can have original jurisdiction over misdemeanors. Justice Courts do not have exclusive jurisdiction. And I don't believe this necessarily voids the charging affidavits. Indeed, the fact that Judge Priester signed off on the affidavits could be the grounds for his recusal.
