The cats out of the bag. Pat Bruce of the Madison County Conservative Coalition aka TEA PARTY sent a letter out this weekend with Joel Dumbgar supporters names on it. Mayor Mary's name was there. Why would a true republican and Thad supporter get behind the Tea Party???? Guess we have our answer now...they intimidated her this weekend. These people will stop at nothing till they take over the GOP in Mississippi...and they are starting in Madison. God help us!

WOW!!! Just saw the letter from Pat Bruce of the MCCC. Its says the Asst. Dist Atty Dow Yoder for Madison is publicly supporting him. That's a major violation. Judges and prosecutors can not publicly support anyone in a political race. How many of these people actually know their name is on this list?

I don't see Greg Brand in this one, don't think he would have a dog in this hunt. Besides he is an avowed Cochran man and would never take a shot at Mary if it hurt Thad. I agree with 10:40 about Brand not being behind this (1) it is too slick for Brand; (2) he wouldn't do it because it has an attack on Thad; (3) he has no dog in the current hunt with Mayor Mary.

This has all the trappings of Tea Party. Every issue here goes direct to them starting with the the defense of Mayfield, and the fullside attack on Mayor Mary for that and multiple other sins.

While not in the defense of Mz Mary, I don't get the wholesale throwing her into the TP group just because she is supporting Bomgar. Granted, he is TP thru and thru, but the question is who will be his opponent(s). Remember the adage - the enemy of your enemy is your friend. I attended a meeting of the Central MS TP at which Charles C Johnson spoke and heard him attach Mary Hawkins, Pete Perry, Greg Brand and Haley and Henry Barbour in this "conspiracy" as he called it. Why would Brand go rogue from this group? At that meeting, Johnson did use that exact quote of Mary's "bloody fingerprints", so, I agree with earlier posters that this is Tea Baggers all the way or some crazy groundwork for a Mayfield lawsuit.

Mary wouldn't stand a chance statewide. Bomgar shouldn't be included with whoever slung this mud - he's always struck me as much more reasonable and responsible than most of the TP types. It would be refreshing to have a representative from Madison who actually passes legislation.

On the other hand, whatever happened to the rights of property owners to use their property to produce income in reasonable ways? There has to be a balancing of interests involved at some point. When does my interest in upholding my property values merit government action to prevent my neighbor for using his property in a legitimate effort to produce income? It is always interesting how different interests lead us to favor or disfavor government regulation of our lives.

I doubt Mary is behind anybody publicly this early, she's to smart for that. And, all you haters, she'll hold the job as long as she wants it! Look at Madison for crying out loud! It's a diamond in the metro rough!

Greg Brand is a long time Democratic party Operative. he is well know for smear campaign, lies, and anything that he can do to destroy people. Lott and Brand are best friends. Lott's campaign was full of lies, stolen property, threats and intimidation towards Overby's family and political supporters. Even his wife was threatened.

just heard from a Bomgar insider. They are gearing up to smear Mary for 3 years then run a Tea Party candidtate against her. They are also working to get people to run for all the BOS positions and city council. My source said that they are going to ride the McDaniel wave and their goal is to take over Madison County politics and Desoto. I asked if this was for real and they said VERY! This has all been in the planning for a year. Lott's race for chancery clerk confirmed to them that these races could be won with money and smear tactics. This news is very disturbing.

Joel is an interesting and quite successful guy. A novice at politics but wants to get in knee-deep and quickly. Legislature might be an interesting place for him - but while he is running he is also trying to control several other legislative races around the state through a PAC he has created and funded. Wants to kick out what he considers to be 'bad' Republicans and replace with his choice - in DeSoto, Rankin, and throughout north MS. Based on how he is going about it, would bet the PAC backed candidates will be good Tea Partiers - (is that an oxymoron?) - because they need to think like he does.

The fact that many good 'establishment' types are supporting him, including Madison's Mayor. Don't think it is about the "Tea Party" as so many on here have jumped to the conclusion. Its more about supporting this candidate that has made a lot of money and has also contributed a lot of money to various candidates.

You mention Mounger? Read his book - he points out that you can't raise money for your causes without giving when others call you for their causes. Bomgar has given - so its easier for him to get.

Wasn't it revealed earlier on this site that Mrs. Mayfield is the sister of John Reeves? Don't forget that Reeves sits on the City of Madison Planning and Zoning Commission and chairs their meetings. Those positions are appointive and report directly to or at the behest of The Mayor of Madison.

If Reeves, who serves on this board at Mary's pleasure, is advising his sister in how to attack Mary, this would add a new wrinkle to all the conspiracy theories at play here.

I have known the Mayor probably longer than any of you making these absurd posts and I don't believe that she can be intimidated. She and I don't always agree but we are always friends and talk regularly. Madison is a nice place to live. I have been here since the mid 70's and don't intend to leave. You take care of the problems in your backyard and we'll take care of our problems.
