The Madison County Journal reported a very interesting little item about Ridgeland last week:
RIDGELAND - The city signed a one-year, $1,500-a-month contract with a local company to help transform the way the city handles its social media.Leadify is owned by Joe Stradinger and was created a year ago.
Alan Hart, director of community development, said Ridgeland-based Leadify will help engage and control conversations related to the city.
"This is really neat technology," he told the board during Monday night's work session. "Basically this company is a media finding company. They will simply take over your social media platform and engage in conversations about things we haven't even thought about.
"It's a multidirectional system they offer," he continued. "They will send messages out and also monitor the world messages coming back to you."
He said Leadify can set search parameters and monitor social media to find out what people have to say about Ridgeland.
"We might be interested in what are people saying about crime in Ridgeland," he said. "What are people saying about Northpark? What are people saying about Renaissance?"
He said it's an opportunity to ensure incorrect information regarding the city doesn't sweep through the social media networks and go viral, for example.
Hart also said it could be used for economic development in some instanceS when they look to recruit businesses.
If we wanted a Cheesecake Factory, for example, to come to Ridgeland," he said, "we can literally build a support network and send it to them."
The agreement also parlays with a new interactive app the city is developing.
And people wonder why I allow anonymous comments.
Note: I've had some time to think about this post. Hart uses the phrase "control conversations". So Gene is pretty much paying someone to cyberstalk and then shut down anything conflicts with his message. Careful Leadify, this site can play rough too. Harass anyone who comments on this site and we find out about it, it will be made known.

Stay classy Ridgeland.
Give a politician your tax money and they will find a way to spend it on bullshit.
You call it bullshit. People who actually have to govern call it 21st public relations and message control. It's a smart move.
Ridgeland IS a cheesecake factory. But no so much as Madison. All the cheese from north Jackson landed there.
Gene could have used this when Soto was rampaging through town.
As a [Ridgeland] resident, I find this criticism of [Ridgeland's] wise and benevolent leaders to be misguided and offensive. Leave it to an irresponsible [blogger] like [Kingfish] to start unfounded rumors about [social media control] in our fair city. Of course everyone knows that [Kingfish] is a/an [alcoholic] and a/an [communist sympathizer]. So no one except other [alcoholic communist sympathizers] or maybe [Muslim extremists] would listen to what s/he says!
Are you kidding me 3:52 & 3:02??? 1st of all that's not 21st century technology for those who govern. Its 21st century idiocricy & legitimate waste of time & your money (thank god I don't live in your paranoid city). 2nd of all.....were you drunk when you posted that or just fresh back from a "white power" meeting? I'm guessing former since john smith was best you could come up with
Local resident John smith is playing Mad Libs @ 3:52
John Smith has a cheese fetish.
Now you know why we don't let "John smith" live in Madison.
Well, well, well. One of Leadify's founders is none other than local scorched earth blogger Greg Griffith.
they are probably in business on the side like other city officials are with venders who provide professional services for the city.
Some say that's illegal. Ridgeland politicians say its networking
Yeah. Griffith stalks like a heroin addict. What a piece if shift.
How many degrees of separation to an office park along the proposed toll road shortcut to the Jackson International Airport? Post your answers here. There may be more than one correct answer!
temporary delay while K.F. hits the search hard! Want the links?
"If we wanted a Cheesecake Factory, for example, to come to Ridgeland," he said, "we can literally build a support network and send it to them."
Uh, is this guy at all aware Cheesecake Factory once announced it WAS coming to Ridgeland (Renaissance), then backed out? I doubt it was because of a lack of a social media monitor/whatever.
And 2:18 nailed it about Google alerts doing this for free.
"Jeff Clark" must be a JFP intern, since he pulls the "white power" charge apparently from his nether regions with no relationship at all to what had been posted previously.
3:44, Ridgeland will never make right the epic fail that was Daniel Soto. Because the undisclosed abuses by Soto far, far exceed that which has already been made public. There is a reason why McGee brought Jimmy Houston back so rapidly and the reason isn't all that different than the hiring of this spin control firm.
As far from accurate as possible "anonymous" 8:30. Please try to keep up I know its hard
Alan Hart is a dunce. For forty years there have been 'newspaper clipping services' that, for a fee, scour print media for mention of you or your business or town and send those to you. This is bullshit. If the city contracts for this, then they should reduce Hart's pay accordingly. He's paid, in part, to keep a finger on the pulse of the community.
Leadify? Is that anything like Leadco? Does Eb work for them? Do they sell glass rooms and sponsor Sunday afternoon movies on WAPT?
Call 1-800-530-7665!
10:52 - hilarious! Doin' the Leadco shuffle....HAAAAAWWWWWWW
glad you noticed that "control conversations" part too, KF.
And October 20, 2013 at 3:52 PM---that's hilarious and spot on when it comes to 'controlling' conversations.
