Press releases are flying off the presses today. The Madison Police Department just issued this press release about the Abigail Bonner case:
On October 10, 2013 The Madison Police Department received the MS Bureau of Investigations Crime Scene Units summary report of their assistance to the Abigail Bonner investigation August 13, 2013. The report was postmarked October 07,2013. The Madison Police Department received a toxicology report from the Madison County Coroner’s Office October 07, 2013 via facsimile. However, the Madison Police Department has yet to receive results/ data from subpoenas, search warrants, and other forensic analysis. When all results have been received, analyzed, and the facts and the circumstances have been looked at in their entirety, the Madison Police Department will make a statement. The receipt of a single report does not conclude this investigation. Doing so would be premature and speculative. All investigative findings will be discussed and reviewed with the Madison County District Attorney’s Office. The Madison Police Department will continue to work alongside all county, state, and federal agencies in order to bring this case to a conclusion.

Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.

Excellent communication: very professional and responsible - as usual for Madison's excellent Police Department.
One reason why we live here...
Thanks for the update.
Does anybody know if the parents are suspects in this case? They seem very suspicious to me and I would not be surprised if they are involved. Especially with the body being found as close to her own home as it was and there was seemingly no sign of any kind of struggle or violence.
I don't know about that, 4:04. The news reports yesterday seemed to suggest they (MPD) were withholding information by denying that they had received the state report. Now today they admit they have it (and state it was received today). The statement above is a good statement, but seems to have only come about after people were perplexed by the reaction of the MPD noted in the original CL article. Why would the state lie about the report being available to MPD since Sept. 30?
madison pd doesn't handle much violent crime and isn't really very good at major crimes. they are superb at patrol and that's why the crime rate is low there. this case will never involve an arrest. there are no suspects. there is no investigation beyond the autopsy. they should have simply said "no comment".
4:20 says, "[Abigail's parents] seem very suspicious to me and I would not be surprised if they are involved."
I know Abigail's parents and am 100% convinced they had nothing to do with this. While they may be faulted for sheltering Abigail and her siblings to an unusual degree and such a sheltered upbringing may have caused Abigail to have some emotional issues, I do not believe for one minute they are criminally connected to Abigail's death.
4:20 is the FREAK JOB who is always here to summarily judge and convict her parents.
I'm 4:57. What 5:03 said re: "no comment." By denying they had access to the report it raises questions where there might not even be a need for there to be any questions.
; Madison pd doesn't handle much violent crime and isn't really very good at major crimes;
What planet does this guy live on? They usually have a major crime solved in 24 hours! He (she?) must live in Chocaway's south hellhole. Please go ahead and pay your high water bills down there and stay the hell away from Madison. The Madison police have a response time of 2 minutes. Rather than disparaging Madison, try to fix your jail and the ignorant City Counsel along with the StokesJoke. You need Mayor Mary down there for a month. She would have your streets repaved, the junk cars hauled away, trash picked up and Chocaway in jail for anarchy.
If you jaybird's watched the WLBT 6pm news tonite (10/10/13) you saw clearly that these reports had been available days ago. Madison is stalling just as Kingfish has stalled for months. Demanding sunlight is the only way the details of this case will ever be eventually revealed to the general public.
Some *reporters* will birdog a porch burglary in Hinds County until the details roll out. Others will sit on their thumbs out of fear of local (white) politicians in other circumstances.
So let's see what happened. First she ran away, as the parents said. To NYC of all places. Yet she has no history of running away. The parents even went so far as to say she was happy. Then in the Madison Journal interview they said she could have committed suicide. WHOA!! First she ran away now you say suicide. That's a big leap. That's like saying someone went to the grocery store then you say they took a cruise to Europe. And will somebody tell me if they have ever heard of a parent of a missing child say the reason they can't find them is because they committed suicide? Ok, so let's say they had some 6th sense she did kill herself. She had no car. How far could she be? How many times have we seen parents on TV organize a search for there child? If just the family had looked up and down the street they would have found her in an hour tops. And how many times to be people try suicide and are unsuccessful? Most. So she could have been out there alive. And why weren't the parents showing no signs of sadness in the TV interviews? They both had slight smiles on their faces. So if you want the cops to look somewhere other than around the neighborhood you say HEY, SHE WENT TO NYC. Then you let the 100 plus degree heat do the work for you. I can promise you after 2 weeks in that heat there was little to nothing left. So why did they need a search warrant? Why haven't they released the info if it's just a straight up suicide? Well if your that dumb I'm glad your not a cop.
Some *reporters* will birdog a porch burglary in Hinds County until the details roll out. Others will sit on their thumbs out of fear of local (white) politicians in other circumstances.
Where can we find your reporting?
re: 7:01
+1
If there is nothing suspicious about this then why are the authorities making it appear so???? If there is nothing to hide, what is being hidden? Strange - just strange.....
Dear 7:51
You just gave yourself away with the "white politicians" comment. There is only one person that would play the race card in this situation. Welcome aboard Donner!
For the poster who insists on bringing Madison versus Jackson into this.......Mary is a joke who thinks she is a local celebrity. I'll wager 90 percent of metro area(including white people) couldn't pick her out of a line up. I hope KF publishes my comment and then stomps out unnecessary Jackson bashing in unrelated threads.
I trust the Madison Police Department--They know something and they are holding their powder!!!
Then stop disparaging the MPD
Had enough fun with the snarky comments?
Here is the deal. The toxicology and lab reports are not back. I don't know why the MHP said what they did but it wouldn't be the first or second time this year they have exhibited some clumsiness. Or third now that I think about it.
What exactly can I get at this time? Other than a bare-boned police incident report, nothing. The lab results are not back nor have been released. They can keep those confidential under the investigation exception. SO my best hope is for someone to leak it to me. Fat chance of that happening.
I do have an opinion on this case. A strong one actually. However, I am keeping it to myself until the lab results are released. There are quite a few unanswered questions about this case and they will be asked.
I also never thought Vince Foster died in Fort Marcy Park, either. As for the white politicians comment, says more about the person making the comment than anything else.
A tandem mass spec run takes up to 48 hours. A standard forensic lab would have all the standard drugs of interest built into the database for instant comparison. Any suspicious elevations would require a second analysis for confirmation. A human review of the machine printouts is required, of course, but shouldn't require too much time. Some individual agents might require a different methodology but I don't know the current agents of interest in a setting like this.
Tests like this on a living patient in an ICU come back in less than a day, although some exotic tests might need to be sent out and take longer.
Something is not right with the story we're getting here.
I saw 2 of her sisters walking to the library one day last week. I am being superficially judgmental here (and I'm admitting it before anyone blasts me for it!) but by their appearance and dress all I could do was shake my head. It doesn't look like anything in that house has changed.
"Mary is a joke who thinks she is a local celebrity."
SHE IS A LOCAL CELEBRITY, 10:25! WAS YOU BORN DUMB OR WAS IT ACQUIRED?
Did anyone ever find out why the dad had a horrible scratch on his nose--look at clips from the tv stations--He is always smirking!!
at 5:34--Major Crime in Madison....Yep they got that bank robber in record time...Ohhh wait he got away!!
What i do know is Mary and Gene are good friends...Her dad works at Butler and Snow...Still no answers Just keeping tight lipped in hopes people will forget all about it!!
If my daughter was found dead between my house and the library, do you really believe I would let my other daughters walk that path? Not in a million years! Something is terribly WRONG with this picture.
You got that right KF! Humidor Bubba had Vince Foster wacked and dumped in that park.
Good point, 7:49.
7:49
Their house is to the west of where her body was found....and the library is west of that, so they aren't walking the same path.
Just an fyi.
Kingfish,
I'm not sure why you think the toxicology and lab reports are "not back". Your press release states the toxicology report was received from the coroner's office. It's been understood that they have been competed for quite some time. That information is not necessary for public curiosity at this point, I would assume and would be why it's not available.
The reason why MHP said what they said was because they provided the reports to the coroner's office who forwarded it to the MPD.
Because Lee Breland said he only received a partial.
Did you read Cruz's column this week? Had nothing to do with what took place at the legislature a few weeks ago. He is clueless and its time for him to go to the house.
I understand the public concern over this case, but no police department is going to release any information that might be used in their investigation unless they need the public's help on something or until that investigation is complete. Doing otherwise might compromise the investigation, and if this poor girl was the victim of foul play it could allow the perpetrator to escape before they're ready for an arrest. Let them complete their work before you start clamoring for results.
The Madison Police Department isn't incapable of solving major crimes. They might be out of practice because they do such a good job at preventing major crimes that they don't get very many chances to solve them, but they're among the best in the state and will get to the bottom of this.
This old timer still can't help but think of the 1970 Monna Biddy case.
http://www.thereznews.com/2011/04/mona-biddy-part-6.html
Kingfish,
Partial? As in a summary report of the significant findings pertinent to an investigation sans the unnecessary information in a formal, complete report?
I'm not suggesting you should be privy or are somehow lacking by not being privy to the information. The point is, it's a misstatement to say the reports "are not back" because the obvious connotation is that the information from such reports would still not be known to investigators. Especially by insinuating that MHP misstated something when they did not.
I made the comment about the (white) politicians. It had no basis in racism. The suggestion I make is that KF is more attuned to the wishes and reactions of white politicians (Hawkins, McGee, etc) than he is about black ones (Dupree, Stokes, Melton, Graham, Chokwe, Johnson, et al). And the same seems true of white vs black chiefs of police or others in positons of perceived power.
Of course my opinion may be wrong. But, it does often seem to me that he will launch into a black politician with ten claws but sort of tiptoes around the emotions and power of white ones. And will dance around issues of crime and corruption in some towns but not in others.
PS: No, 7:51, you can't find 'my reporting' out there. There's a simple reason for that. I'm not a reporter and don't claim to be. Others are and do.
I heard she stole strong medicine from her grandfather and walked down to the woods and went to sleep forever. Her dad is COO of the most powerful group of attorneys in the state. He has all the legal means he needs to keep the truth from getting out. The police have said "no foul play" which equals suicide. There is no killer on the loose. Madison PD is top notch. They don't make mistakes.
Do we need to keep our eyes on the father????
2:21; You HEARD? So, to recap, you heard a rumor from which you arrive at and state not one but three conclusions? Wait, four.
The 'path she walked' had absolutely nothing to do with the results she met. Suicide, murder or natural death.....the sidewalk is irrelevant. The booger bear ain't gonna be found on no path.
7:25; What kind of ghoul are you? How do you know someone walking down a sidewalk is a sister to this girl or that she is headed to a library? Is this all you got to do all day long? God help us if you venture over to Kroger where all the rich women with silicone implants shop.
5:21 said: 4:20 is the FREAK JOB who is always here to summarily judge and convict her parents. Really? You are an IDIOT! In these kinds of cases you see it all the time. I wasn't convicting anyone but rather raising a legitimate question. Nobody knows anything or if they do, they are not leaking anything. The parents are suspects until it's announced that they are not.....A-Hole!
Swear Otis in. Let's solve this thang.
@ October 14, 2013 at 1:24 PM WOW--take a deep breath. I don't think your comment was called for at all. There was no need to spew such hate for a simple innocent statement of fact that I saw her sisters walking to the library. 1) her sisters' (and her brother too) pictures were on the family facebook page. 2) they look almost exactly like Abigail--there is no mistaking the family resemblance. 3) they were carrying bags and books and were about 20 feet from the front of the Madison Library on Madison Avenue. 4) I happened to be driving by...probably on my way to Kroger.
9:19 Old Timer. I lived across the street from Mona Biddy when she was killed by her mother Carole. I am 52 now but remember it well. Very sad.
OK KF--last mention of this girl was Oct 10. Almost 2 months later and still no answers?!?!? What gives?
Several of us mentioned her last week in the thread about the dead abortionist, not how quickly the MPD assigned a cause of death and closed the case (one day, IIRC).
