PSC fails to comply with court order in public records case
Bonjour.

One down, the other on the run in Boston.
It got real in Boston as one terrorist is dead and the other is on the run. Consider this an open thread about it. Here is a police scanner recording of the shootout last night.

Latest crime reports
Here are the latest crime stats for Jackson, Madison (city), Byram, and Rankin County.
Shocking
So if you live in Vicksburg, who do you vote for? The crook (alleged), the ex-hooker (what else can you say she calls herself a working girl), or the Politician? Although it could be argued a politician is all of the above? You can't make this up. The Clarion-Ledger reported:

Wicker speaks
Senator Roger Wicker had this to say about his vote on the school safety bill filibuster last week:

Delta version of "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM!!!"
Senator David Jordan mixes it up with the school board up in the Delta
Disgusting.
Here is the Eric Law indictment. I fail to see the need to re-write something that is only two pages. Warning: This is pretty graphic and disturbing stuff.

The Hemp Collection
Here is a collection of the Hemp Candidate from lasts week's mayoral forum in Jackson. She is quite entertaining. Not impugning her character. Just posting these videos to show what we see at these things. Enjoy.

WSJ: Small businesses fear Obamacare
The Wall Street Journal reported many small business owners are looking at terminating the health care coverage for employees and paying the $2,000 fine under Obamacare in this video:
Took the plunge and got the Z10.
Got the new Blackberry Z10 last Friday. I was one of the last holdouts. I was waiting for the new Q10 to come out but this hunk of junk called the Torch decided to start looking at gravesites. The enemy doesn't always cooperate. Having said that, the Z10 is a pretty cool phone. Here is my totally unprofessional unexpert review based on using it for a weekend.
MCPP responds to Bomgar defeat
This is a sponsored post by the Mississippi Center for Public Policy.
MCPP Executive Director Forest Thigpen comments on the defeat of the Bomgar nomination to the State Board of Education in a press release:
Spring at Mynelle Gardens
Amile Wilson took these photos of Mynelle Gardens in bloom over the weekend. We tried to do this last year but the weather didn't cooperate as the day before the shoot, a nasty storm blew threw Jackson and knocked off all the blooms. Amile said the light was a little harsh but we hope you enjoy these pics. More will be posted this week.

Study says helicopter moms bad for kids.
You know the type. Their children can't ride bikes to school two blocks away. Might get run over or kidnapped. Can't go to the playground at the park because a creep might be there. Has to do the homework for little Johnny because she wants him to go to Harvard one day. Threatens the school with a lawsuit if junior gets caught cheating. Child has self-esteem issues so he has to be protected. Then there are the ones that go to professional job interviews with their kids. Teacher told me how one was kicked out of an ACT test when she tried to take the test with her child. I kid you not. Meanwhile, a recent study confirmed earlier ones in finding "helicopter moms" are bad for their kids development and leave them ill-equipped to deal with life. The Daily Mail(UK) reports:

An explanation for the readers
Apparently some people are accusing me of posting the name of the JPD detective killed today at JPD headquarters before the family was notified. I will attempt to put those doubts to rest right now. A very reliable source provided his identity. I was told the family had been notified. I have since learned his family members either worked for JPD or were retired from JPD. I made the decision to publish the identity. There is NO WAY IN HELL I would have published his name if I thought for one second the family had not been notified. PERIOD!!!
Shooting at JPD HQ
I hate writing these posts. JPD detective Eric Smith was killed at JPD headquarters this afternoon. No more details are known at this time.
Update: Suspect is dead as well. WLBT reports he was a suspect in a murder case.
Hemp candidate on police
The Hemp candidate presented her views on JPD and crime at the recent forum for the mayoral candidates at the Jackson Medical Mall.
Tabled!
Senate ed committee tables Bomgar nomination to Board of education on an 8-7 vote. Hearing was "very contentious".

The Hemp Candidate
Went to the a forum at the Jackson Medical Mall last night for the Jackson mayoral candidates. More will be posted later but here is a sneak preview at the um, Hemp candidate. All she could talk about was hemp and when she wasn't talking about hemp, she was talking about meditation. See for yourself.

Cap murder charge against Dr. Smith dismissed
Dr. Arnold Smith is no longer being charged with capital murder in the shooting death of a man last April at the law office of Lee Abraham.
FOOD FIGHT!!!
Her Laddness and Terri Herring Spokestool, oops, I meant spokesman, Keith Plunkett go at it again on Twitter. Enjoy.
Herring nomination pulled. Incompetence or Machiavelli at work?
Governor Phil Bryant withdrew the nomination of Terri Herring to the State Board of Health yesterday.
The nomination of Ms. Herring drew no small amount of controversy as she has been a staunch pro-life advocate and supporter of the failed personhood amendment. The Governor withdrew her nomination yesterday after questions were raised about whether she lived in the proper district. Section 41-3-1 of the Mississippi Code states:
Bennett Malone channels Doug Anderson

Trollfest '09
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.
Note: Security provided by INS.
Trollfest '07
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.
If you get tired come relax at the Fox News Tent. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both will entitle you to free drinks.Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required, just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '07 is for EVERYONE!!!
