Tom Cruise is returning for “Top Gun 3,” Paramount announced during its CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas, as is producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
The sequel to director Joseph Kosinski’s 2022 blockbuster “Top Gun: Maverick” was first revealed to be in the works back in 2024 with scribe Ehren Kruger, who co-wrote “Maverick” with Eric Warren Singer and Christopher McQuarrie. “Top Gun: Maverick” became a blockbuster hit when many theaters were still shuttered during the COVID-19 pandemic. It grossed $1.5 billion at the global box office from a $170 million budget, giving movie theaters the jolt they needed when times were tough..... Variety Magazine

Spoilers Plot point: maverick died when he ejected from the plane in II (or he burned up in it). The rest was a dream at his death. He can only fly in a 40 year old plane. He has to lead the mission. He reconciled with goose’s kid.

Top Gun: Maverick entertained the HELL outta me and my son. I grew up watching TG over and over. I can damn near quote the whole movie. He and I watched the original before going to the theater for TGM. We fk'n loved it! I can't wait for a new one, although I'm sure I'll need to keep my expectations low. But I know it will be an hour or two of nostalgia and escapism. And I am not a sheep seeking circus bread or whatever the hell @6:04 was whining about there.
Top Gun: Maverick was exactly what it was meant to be.
A movie about Naval Aviators flying bas ass aircraft and blowing shit up.
No political bs. Just awesome cinematics.

Advance script: Maverick leads a strike into Iran, but breaks protocol and lands at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Airport. He and Goose snatch up the current gumbah, load him into the bomb bay and fly him back to the boat.
I enjoyed the aircraft scenes in the last one. Not a lot of sex, politics or anything transgender. It was what we were used to back in the good days of action films. I look forward to the next one as well. It is good to see the Tomcat in action, that was a pretty cool aircraft in its day.
Too bad they missed their chance to have Chuck Norris play his WSO in the F18-E for TG3.

@11:05: Tom Cruise already did the wheelchair race in Days of Thunder--another TC movie that is so bad it is good.
How many surround systems were sold to listen to the first five minutes of TG? Millions I suspect. The Dustin Hoffman is Rainman, it ain't the same.
