Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens issued the following statement yesterday.
Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announced today that a jury has returned a guilty verdict against 30-year-old Christopher Barber in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred on Super Bowl Sunday in Jackson. The conviction stems from a February 7, 2021, incident at the Jasco gas station at 1038 Woodrow Wilson Boulevard. The entire incident was captured on store surveillance cameras. Evidence established that Christopher Lee was inside the store when Justin Partee, Barber, and Aaron Hudson (driver) arrived at the gas station in a white Dodge Neon. Partee exited the vehicle and proceeded to approach the entrance of the gas station. Before Partee fully opened the door, an exchange of gunfire began between Partee and Lee. As the confrontation continued, Lee followed Partee out the door while continuing to shoot. Partee and Barber returned fire from the vehicle. During the exchange, Lee was struck multiple times and fell to the ground. Partee approached Lee as he lay on the ground and continued firing multiple shots into his body. At that point, Barber began stomping and kicking Lee’s face as he lay dying. Partee was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Investigation determined that the individuals in the vehicle were aware of Lee’s location prior to arriving at the gas station. The shooting was connected to an ongoing dispute stemming from a prior robbery involving Lee and Partee.Barber was found guilty of both First-Degree and Second-Degree Murder. He was sentenced to life in prison for count one and an additional 40 years for count two to be served consecutively in the custody of Mississippi Department of Corrections. “This was a dangerous act of violence that unfolded in a public place in the middle of the day,” said District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II. “When individuals choose to settle disputes with gunfire, they put entire communities at risk. Our office remains committed to holding violent offenders accountable and protecting the safety of this community."

I wonder, could Owens prosecute himself and cop a plea?
Jody (part-time DA), keep pimping that jury pool.
The culture.
When keeping it real goes wrong…
He is a county DA, not the US Attorney.
Got video- took 5 years to obtain a conviction.
Christopher Lee and Justin Partee: killed in the shootout.
Barber: conviceted and sentenced to life.
What happened with the fourth person mentioned? Aaron Hudson who was allegedly the driver of the murder death kill vehicle? He was originally charged with murder in this.
Did he get a deal?
Time never goes faster than when time is running out. Tick, tick, tick. Jody is on the clock. “They’re are not FBI, I checked them out”.
His case is still ongoing. Was picked up this week on a bench warrant after he failed to appear in court in Feb.
