The Pearl Police Department issued the following statement.
On March 15, 2026, at approximately 2:30 AM, officers with the Pearl Police Department Patrol Division made contact with two individuals in the Pearl City Park after hours. The two individuals were identified as John Dearing (18 Years of Age) and Ashton Maples (18 Years of Age). Both individuals were in possession of two spray paint cans. Due to patrol officers not being able to locate any damage to the park, both individuals were released without charges pending further investigation.
On March 18, 2026, employees with the City of Pearl Parks and Recreation Division contacted the Pearl Police Department notifying us of property that was vandalized with spray paint. The following locations were damaged:
Tennis and Pickle Ball Court
Fenced gate by the Parks and Recreation Dumpster
“No Trespassing” Sign
Center City Baseball Complex Building
This vandalism is going to cost the City of Pearl approximately $2,000.00 in damages. Detectives with the Pearl Police Department were able to apprehend Mr. Dearing who is being held on bond pending charges of Malicious Mischief and Trespassing. Mr. Maples is pending pick-up and has active warrants with the City of Pearl.
