For years, the blue collars have been told to learn to code because that is where the future is. Well, something might have interfered with that future.
Computer science professor at a major state university just finished the worst faculty meeting in 32 years of academia Department head dropped the placement statistics like a bomb at 2:47 PM on a Wednesday 2023: 89% placement rate within 6 months of graduation 2024: 67% placement rate 2025: 34% placement rate 2026 projections: 12% placement rate 312 CS majors graduating this spring. Industry contacts saying maybe 40 will find work. The dean wants to know why enrollment is still climbing while job prospects crater Faculty sitting there like deer in headlights because what the fuck do you tell 19-year-olds taking out $40k per year in loans Half the curriculum is already obsolete. Teaching data structures while companies replace entire engineering teams with Claude and Cursor. One professor suggested pivoting to "AI collaboration skills" and got laughed out of the room Another said we should warn students. Department head said that would "damage program reputation and university revenue" So they keep taking tuition money from kids who will graduate into a wasteland Career services still posts those bullshit salary averages from 2022 when new grads were getting $140k offers Now the same companies are hiring 2 senior engineers with AI tools instead of 12 junior developers Every CS professor knows their students are walking into a meat grinder But the university needs those enrollment numbers to hit budget targets They're literally selling degrees that lead to DoorDash driving

A "CS degree" is code for you're screwed.
So whose fault is it, the school’s or the kids’? Caveat emptor
It’s probably more H1Bs than AI at this point.
How about a universal check and let ai do all the work
They will still need builders, plumbers, and electricians. The trade skills will be gold in the years to come.
Programming languages are like learning any other language. If you wait until you are an adult to learn them then you’ve waited too late. You never needed a CS degree.
Jeet code written by H1Bs is universally derided as trash. It’s the reason everything from Windows 11 to Android is such bloated garbage now.
AI “vibe coding” is based partially on jeet code and partially on whatever else could be scraped from github to train the model.
The point is that truly gifted software engineers, and SE’s with security cleaeances, will always be in-demand. But the prospects for junior devs are pretty low now that most low-level tasks can be automated now. Going to be hard for any Gen Alpha’s to get their foot in the door anywhere without some serious skills and an existing portfolio. Thankfully for them, contributions to FOSS always count and are always needed!
Electric "technology" will be the ultimate downfall of civilization. It's entire purpose is to make the human brain unneeded.
It wasnt just any “blue collars” that Obama and the leftist media told to “learn to code” it was coal miners. Well the AI boom that is taking the leftists jobs is also demonatrating the need for get this… more coal!
The other jobs were manufacturing and DC let that happen by not doing jack ahit the last 50 years to make it so easy for American companies to offshore manufacturing
There are a lot of changes going on. Computer programming, software companies are just a few who will under go change due to AI. If people are waiting on institutions (ie, universities) to help them out, they will lose every time. Universities job is to secure as much government funding as possible, not help students obtain careers. They are employment agencies for the academic world (tenure). Professors focus on publishing while GAs teach. Professors want to indoctrinate their narrow views into the students which has nothing to do with furthering their education. The graduates of today are not what the graduates of yesterday are. If you do not direct your own life, no one else will do it for you. The dumber you are, the more likely you will be taken advantage of.
Learn plumbing, or electrician skills, and make much more money.
Law degrees and Political science have been and always will be the most easy and profitable career. It doesn’t matter if you are a limousine liberal like Nancy Pelosi and Bernie Sanders, a Zionist warhawk like Lindsey Graham, or a libertarian nut like MJT. They all end up worth hundreds of millions of dollars after just a few terms in DC..
@6:46 Thanks Uncle Ted. I guess avoiding technology allowed you to speak from the grave? Your books are masterpieces!
IT people just need to accept that they are nothing more than digital janitors and their salaries should be low enough to reflect that. If an H1B can do your job for $10 an hour and an AI can to it for $10 a day then you need to rethink your marketable skills. Same with trades. If a Latin American laborer can do your job for $10 an hour then it is the same situation.
We are at a point where we either need UBI, some sort of North Korean style self-sufficiency “Juche” initiative. Or we just accept that crime is going to go through the roof and our social safety nets are going to collapse and people are going to starve to death until the population is decreased to a sustainable level of mouths to feed related to the number of jobs available to feed them.

The federal departments of Labor, Justice and Environmental Quality caused manufacturing offshoring. Trump would have to dismantle all three of those within his remaining two years.
It's essential that our grandchildren learn a trade, like doing nails, weaves or pot farming.
I learned code when I was 12-13 years old back in the day. Oh wait, that was Morse Code. Does that count?
The result for one thing will be websites with only verified users posting
The unhappy truth is we are headed for a technology revolution with impact not unlike the dark ages. We find it hard to grasp the reality that no matter your job you can be replaced. AI can not only replace your job, it can do it better and cheaper. Capitalism will most certainly backfire on us all unless we protect ourselves from those very few who will profit from the new slavery. It's no joke. It's here.
Biden echoed the "learn to code" message to oil workers. "Let them eat cake." Obama and Biden are the contemporary Marie Antoinette of this day.
Some people simply refuse to make a post without throwing in their anti-Semitism.
I’m waiting for the hot takes of all your regular commenters (over the age of 60) who cant even code a proper hyperlink in their comments and just paste their ridiculously long google search results addresses 🤣ðŸ˜
They are going to type out their valuable insights one keystroke at a time using their vast technology skills.
I have two brothers that are card carrying Mensa members. Learn to code, they said. They are absolutely worthless humans, but they know how to code. It’s all about shortcuts for those two and they’re always blaming someone else for their failures. If anyone is interested, I can share their gofundme link.
@12:10
You typed this unironically on a device running someone’s code on a website Jimmy paid to have coded (as if he could himself)
Just because your parents failed to raise you and your brothers properly doesnt reflect on all software engineers. Also, your parents should’ve taught you to not openly tear down your family to people outside of the family. Even anonymously!
@9:02, those lyrics should be musicified!
12:45. We’re all adopted from different mothers. Get a life. Your device has ironically made your brain mushy. If tearing someone down is what you call it, you might be one them.
I have seven others siblings that don’t mind actually working.
Don’t get fired up about a post on X. A CS degree from a strong school like Ms State is still in very high demand. That post is BS.
Now, all these inferior schools that have no ACT requirement that are printing CS degrees, yeah it’s a problem. Buyer beware.
I get accused of coding every time I use the word democrats.
Able to code, not able to code, very shortly none of it will matter a damn because your meager ability will be unmarketable when an AI robot can perform better for less than half the cost. That's where we're headed and bosses Musk and Trump will pave the way.
Hacking pays well.
I'll take Capitalism any day. So you prefer Socialism where everyone is poor except the government oligarchs? Or do you prefer Communism where everyone is a slave except for the government oligarchs? Maybe you prefer a good old fashioned Dictatorship, especially if you get to be the Dictator.
AI coding can’t innovate. What it is good at is duplicating with customization. So if you wanted a copy of an app with some slight difference then you can have it. But it will not likely be able to create the next groundbreaking killer app for you.
@1010 Norway is socialist and is none of what you describe. I think your biggest problem is you have an American education which means you are ignorant. You have zero clue about the difference between socialism and a centralized command economy. You also don’t seem to understand that a political system like socialism isn’t inherently the cause of poverty. That poverty is universally caused by corruption. Norway successfully uses their oil resources to fund their socialism. Norwegians have free healthcare, free university education, and free retirement pension. All provided by their energy sector. Venezuela failed to use theirs in the same manner. It wasn’t because socialism was bad. It is because Venezuelans were bad. It was cultural. Same with Jackson. Jackson is bad because it is full of bad people!
Read some damn books and turn off Mark Levin.
@ 10:02 - Please show us where the comment you referred to reflects antisemitism. I've read it several times and can't find it.
@April 11, 2026 at 12:08 PM - The pioneer software architects are all over 60, having mastered coding with Assembly language, COBOL, FORTRAN, ALGOL, and PASCAL. And, their typing skills are robust, using much more than just their thumbs to communicate.
@8:05
You are correct but also wrong. I was talking about ng about the over 60s who can’t post a proper hyperlink here.
They weren’t the pioneers you are talking about. They are ignorant, opinionated blowhards, with an extreme case of Dunning-Kruger syndrome.
@12:33 PM - My bad. I took you for the boomer troll. Hadn't had my 2nd cup yet.
