U.S. District Judge Henry Wingate will hold yet another hearing on JXN Water's proposed rate increase.
Never seen a judge try so hard not to do his job.

A Federal judge is referring to the parties as 'combatants'? Seriously?
Before this case, Wingate was notorious for being very slow to issue rulings in cases it, to put it another way, to do his job. It’s been surprising to see how up to speed he has been in this one.
The city not to be involved in this water
at all. The city and court need to read the order Jxn Water follows. They all
gave him the authority to raise rates.
He is 78-years old.
On the surface, the City's argument makes sense - don't raise rates while there are so many accounts not making payments. One could compare this to a grocery store raising prices due to rampant theft while letting every few customers in line just leave without paying. It's unfair to those doing the right thing to allow so many to get away with not paying.
On the other hand, if JXN Water disagrees with the analysis, they need to provide their own and make the argument why raising rates is the only way to go.
As a JXN Water customer, I don't mind a *reasonable* rate increase as long as it is fairly and equally applied and all other means to raise funds (that don't include a taxpayer bailout) have been exhausted.
You see had he put forbidding in there.
Can we just quit pretending that all people are capable of self governance and just put competent people in charge by decree instead of pretending Jackson can elect effective leadership if we believe hard enough and throw enough taxpayer money at the problem.
Eventually Ted will have enough of the S.O.P. clown show in Jackson and pack his bags. Given the track record, I expect the city will do a stellar job of providing the basic necessities for its citizens...might even get a Kennedy award or something.
Thanks for nothing, Wingate.
Jxn Water has already factored in the
citizens not paying into needing the
increase.
The man the city got has no utility experience.
The judge letting city interfere.
If I was Ted I would quit and tell the judge to run it
Maybe the judge should run Jxn water? He can run it anyway he wants too. If I was Ted I would quit without notice
A lot of the slow witted people, including Wingate, can’t seem to recognize the obvious. Very few of the people currently not paying their bill intend to get current and then pay monthly going forward. At a minimum they are hoping for forgiveness of their current balance and.just pay going forward. Sadly the clueless mayor and council probably support this approach. All the non-payers should be turned off immediately, which will greatly improve the collection percentage but won’t improve the actual revenue much. In addition, sleepy Wingate is preventing numerous non-paying apartments from being cut off. It is clear many customers and some elected officials think the water should be free. The correct approach is obvious, but the stupidity is rampant.
"You see had he put forbidding in there."
Are you even trying to make sense?
I think Judge Wingate needs to have a hearing, since the response says the report recommends action that is illegal.
He's going to let the parties make a complete record. Then he will issue an opinion that can't be reversed on appeal.
On another note, what is the status of Judge Wingate's audit of the Siemens money?
Just wait until the judge starts issuing Smackdowns instead of rulings!!!!
I am very disappointed in Judge Wingate. At the beginning, he was running his court with a smart hand, keeping the crap out of it.
I'm sorry to say that he's leaning more to appear like he works for the city of Jackson. And that is no compliment.
I thought that when all of the money was sent to Jackson to provide water that they would send someone to handle the job. It is looking more and more like it is the same as it was before. Just a bunch of people who know nothing about the job arguing about the money and getting nothing done.
I need to know 3 things:
1. Is Henifin's wife at least moderately attractive?
2. Is Henifin's wife reasonably sane?
3. Does Henifin have grandkids?
If the answer to at least one of those questions is "YES", I would tell Wingate to take this job and shove it and then I would fly home and enjoy retirement. If the answer to all 3 questions is "NO", I might consider staying in Jackson to work on these water issues.
Star Date 2048…. Jackson MS to hold hearing on Jackson Water system status…
2:22, You seem to have forgotten that before Henifin took over the entire city went a month without running water.
And I won't even try to address the other failures and boil water advisories.
2:25, I'm not saying 1 and 2 are mutually-exclusive, but there seems to be at least an inverse correlation.
Ted knows how to do the job. The city
is interfering. They gave up the water
and suppose to have no involvement.
11:33 Jxn Water has already done a
financial plan to see if he needs raise.
According the order he follows only he
decides if he needs a raise.
Just give it back to the COJ already, what Jackson needs is H2O equity. Boil alerts incoming.
Who oversees meddling federal judges who are operating clearly outside their swim lane?
Wingate- the perpetual injunction judge.
