Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statement.
On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, the trial of Gerry Glen Herring concluded after he was found guilty of two (2) counts of Gratification of Lust and one (1) count of Attempted Sexual Battery.
Rankin County Circuit Court Judge Brad Mills promptly sentenced Herring to consecutive terms of Life in Prison without the Possibility of Parole for Attempted Sexual Battery and an additional 30 years for Gratification of Lust.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department would like to acknowledge the outstanding work of Investigator Jimmy Rogers and the Rankin County District Attorney’s Office.
Sheriff Bailey commented on the conviction; “this is a prime example of the dedicated work that deputies and investigators do every day to keep Rankin County One of the Safest Places to Live and Raise a Family.”
