U.S. District Judge Henry Wingate will hold yet another hearing on JXN Water's proposed rate increase.
Never seen a judge try so hard not to do his job.

A Federal judge is referring to the parties as 'combatants'? Seriously?
Before this case, Wingate was notorious for being very slow to issue rulings in cases it, to put it another way, to do his job. It’s been surprising to see how up to speed he has been in this one.
The city not to be involved in this water
at all. The city and court need to read the order Jxn Water follows. They all
gave him the authority to raise rates.
He is 78-years old.
On the surface, the City's argument makes sense - don't raise rates while there are so many accounts not making payments. One could compare this to a grocery store raising prices due to rampant theft while letting every few customers in line just leave without paying. It's unfair to those doing the right thing to allow so many to get away with not paying.
On the other hand, if JXN Water disagrees with the analysis, they need to provide their own and make the argument why raising rates is the only way to go.
As a JXN Water customer, I don't mind a *reasonable* rate increase as long as it is fairly and equally applied and all other means to raise funds (that don't include a taxpayer bailout) have been exhausted.
You see had he put forbidding in there.
Eventually Ted will have enough of the S.O.P. clown show in Jackson and pack his bags. Given the track record, I expect the city will do a stellar job of providing the basic necessities for its citizens...might even get a Kennedy award or something.
Thanks for nothing, Wingate.
Jxn Water has already factored in the
citizens not paying into needing the
increase.
The man the city got has no utility experience.
The judge letting city interfere.
