To kill this amount of geese and then just throw them in the pitch-ins like this is not only unlawful but unethical. We have your information and and an off duty deputy was able to record you dumping. We will be in contact VERY SOON.

In a few years, after a regime change, and the Bad Guys are back in power, after the meat shortages are imposed upon us, people will be desperate for food like those geese. People will be risking their lives, to obtain critical nutrition.
And now, some individuals are going to have their lives ruined over this. I hope it's not farmers, already facing bankruptcy, who were (clumsily) trying to save their crops.

Vermin of the sky. They are overpopulated and destructive. Most likely no game violation broken except wanton waste. On a local level, illegal dumping of animal carcasses in a county owned dumpster. They most likely were shot legally. There is no bag limit or possession limit on Snows, Blues, and Ross geese, which is what these are. The post on the Yazoo County page has a reply from them that they didn't have a "permit". They haven't caught them yet, so how would they know? And the only permit you need is a small game license and a state and federal duck stamp. Those things are nasty and taste like literal crap. This is nothing more than "look at us" from the sheriff's department. They think they have the bust of the century, but in all reality, they don't. They'll probably get a slap on the wrist for illegal dumping and maybe wanton waste, but that's it. That is if they even know who it was, which I highly doubt they do.

What law did they break? If exceeding the bag limit then prove it, otherwise the deceased are theirs to dispose of as they see fit.
People who only walk outside from their house to their car will be up in arms over this. Outdoorsmen and farmers understand nuisance.
If Game & Fish won't get off their butts and do something about these nuisance birds, then making law-abiding citizens criminals is NOT the answer. Game & Fish, simply take these complaints and get into action with the appropriate measures of eradicating the problem. light goose conservation order: no bag limit, no capacity restrictions in guns, use of electronic calls permitted. these are snows. they arent fit to eat but will destroy a field in a day. I would think a dumpster would be an ok place to dispose of carcasses. Maybe because its in yazoo, the sheriff is mad they actually put the trash in a dumpster instead of the side of the road.
I say we continue to monitor this situation, and see if this is a nothingburger, or not.

Don't know why they felt the need to dump them in someone's dumpster - just leave them in the fields so the coyotes can have a feast.

Where is an off duty officer when dumpster divers are throwing open bags of garbage out of the dumpsters onto the ground or the illegal dumping of furniture and appliances on county roads or by these dumpsters? Yazoo county is drowning in garbage. The county roads haven’t been cleaned up in years and they're worried about these birds.The largest county in the state and mostly rural from Vaughn to Eden to Holly Bluff to Satartia to Wolf Lake and Bentonia/Scotland and it takes a deputy 40 minutes to get from one side of the county to the other. Understaffed sheriff and police and no money to maintain the roads and pickup trash. Yes we’re in a state of emergency alright.
Why couldn’t the off duty officer request an on duty deputy respond and stop it while in progress?
I called a non emergency number at Yazoo county Sheriff’s office 3 weeks ago after witnessing dumpster divers throwing garbage over the side of a dumpster. They weren’t interested and they just get warning although a sign is posted violators subject to a $500 fine if caught.
I would estimate there are around 40-50 of these dumpsters dotting the county and what a nuisance they are.

If there is, I will recant my statement. I hunt in the same county. You should see these dumpsters, sans the geese. They don't seem to mind all the trash all over the place around the dumpsters and on the roads. There is a pile of trash on the west side of 49 right north of HWY 3 in bags that's been there for weeks. They don't seem to care about that. The Sheriff is grandstanding trying to make it look like he's tough on crime. You can't get them on the phone for anything when you really need them.

Also, 11:24 is correct. There is trash all over the damn place. Hell, there is a state of emergency due to lack of officers, but yes, there is a video of the white kids throwing trash geese away from an off-duty officer who most certainly could have called someone on duty or the game warden, who is also spread thin. Again, I'll wait to see the video....
I believe technically you have to have a permit to shoot unlimited light geese as these were. My understanding is that that season doesn’t open until February 1,2026. Therefore currently the daily limit is 20.

I am a hunter and had no idea you had to get a "free permit" to hunt geese during conservation seasons. That is one of those "gotcha permits". It does absolutely nothing, yet they'll nail your ass to the wall of you don't have one. Kind of like the federal HIP survey that is the most unscientific data collection methods, yet you have to answer it and get your "free permit". Season has open/closed splits as well. Didn't realize conservation season was open any before the close of regular waterfowl season. Then these regulations revert back to 20 light geese per person per day, but still no possession limit. 10-11 people killing geese is still not abnormal if that is in fact what they did. I've been on conservation hunts when we've killed over 1000.

They’ll be charged with “illegal dumping “ or some other trumped up charge. Not sure if this would meet the criteria for “wanton killing and dumping of wildlife”, even though some hotshot young federal game warden will probably try to make that case. What else are you going to do with these geese? They’re inedible and you can’t give them away. Even food banks and homeless shelters won’t take them. Sending them to a landfill makes more sense than anything else. I’ll bet these kids learn some valuable lessons from this.

I hear the Sheriff has 27 8x10 color glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and the paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence against them. 2:22 how can it be a racket when the farmer has no control over the geese in said winter wheat field. Now, if he borrowed a couple hundred/thousand geese to eat his wheat, that would be a racket. That's like saying people run an insurance racket getting deer to hit their vehicles....a racket requires you do something on purpose to profit from a loss. You can't purposely get wild geese to eat your crops.

there was a large group that did this and if there's one in that group that has a lick of sense he had better call the US FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE and make a deal and then spill his guts on just who all is involved, cause federal wildlife agents dont play around.
