There are some really nice houses for really nice prices for sale in the Jackson market. The City needs to do its part with competent governance and buyers will take advantage and there tax dollars returning will help Jackson.

I am no fan of Dumbert, or of “studies” and more committees to “address” issues, but it is nice to see the words “new chapter” when referring to Jackson. I can help with the “study” right now: stop the crime, pave the streets, make sure the water works, and Jackson will boom. Very, very simple. Call in the DEA and ATF and have them do raids on the gangs that run this town. That will be the end of the crime and the beginning of something real and tangible.

There’s a lot of very affordable “attainable housing” inside of Jackson that doesn’t get purchased due to the pro-lawlessness soft on violent crime tactics the Democrat Party uses to keep folks that don’t vote Democrat from moving into Jackson. For the doubters a quick search will lead you to some phenomenal deals.

In Jackson’s suburbs housing has become “unattainable” due to the so-called Covid stimulus, including government welfare, in some cases millions, given to businesses that did not need or deserve it. But giving millions away to rich people that didn’t deserve it in order to “stimulate” the economy that created the inflation…..is way too taboo to talk about.

But let’s not expect RINO Hoseman or his Senate “study committees” to consider either of the undeniable points above since “The Senate Study Committee” would likely rather find a way to throw some money at the problem rather than deal with its root cause.

9:30am I just flew into and out of the airport. You are just making stuff up or are just stupid.
My husband and I just remarked how much nicer it is to fly out of and into Jackson's airport. The bathrooms are clean and there aren't long waits for them. It is clean throughout though it may be time to replace the ramp carpets. I don't know that the airport is responsible for that or the airline. Perhaps, if some of you men might need to learn to wipe your feet and learn to properly wash your hands IN the sink and no while admiring yourselves in the mirror and learn not to toss a paper towel. I actually asked (since I read this a lot from the JAN bashers) airport housekeepers both in the public bathrooms and the Sky Club how the women's rooms compare to the men's. Some of you men were apparently raise in sheds as " they don't stay clean very long" was their complaint about the men's bathrooms.
There is a restaurant with a bar and two book/ snack/ drinks and shops that is more than adequate for the size of the traffic...no long waits for food or drink or our luggage to safely show up. It's also easy to pick up our arriving out of town guests with the cell phone parking lot. Parking has NEVER been a problem for us. But then we aren't stupid people and travel enough to know there are high traffic problems at every airport during the holidays.

The place is dirty with trash in the elevators and public areas. Parking kiosks don't provide receipts and the service is poor.

No wonder companies won’t come to Jackson. When you step off the plane you know exactly how the rest of your trip is going to go.

The state or feds really need to step in and course correct this place. It’s clear that the people running either are incompetent or simply just don’t care.

For better or worse, Jackson had nearly 12+ years of horrible leadership and ran a lot of things into the ground. Houses deteriorated to a point where gentrification becomes more economically feasible. To lay a foundation and plans for parts of the land locked city to grow is leadership. It isn't all about throwing money at a hole, as the Legislature has routinely dolled money like a carrot on a stick. If they do this, then they can get the benefit.

We have to get beyond the build further away mentality. Some things need to be raised and rebuilt. Create those opportunities, and instill positive conservative leadership and values. Similar to how Detroit has changed (it still has a long way to go).

I grew up in Jackson and live in Fort Worth. I frequently drive back and forth to the east coast. When doing so, I now drive to Blytheville to cross the MS river in order to avoid Jackson and Memphis altogether. It adds about an hour and a half but it is worth it to avoid the amount of nonsense and the potential to be a victim of crime one takes on when driving through each city. I know plenty of others that do the same. The stress level is greatly reduced.

I pass through JAN occasionally and I don't hate it. It is small and quick and that has value.
But your experiences are not mine 8:21.
The women's restroom at the terminal was fine...but at luggage claim it looks like the set of a horror movie.
Twice at least in 2024 the AC was broken and multiple passengers near me complained about it being a dump while they sweated and waited for a flight.
Also that restaurant and bar on multiple occasions has been so understaffed they advised it would be an hour for food. Apparently 2 cooks and a server just did not show up.
I watched a college track team that had been visiting Jackson try to spend a large sum of money on food only to be turned away. They decided they would wait til they got to Atlanta instead.
Have they fixed the escalors yet? Surely to God they have. I will find out soon I suppose.
JAN has potential but there are so many minor things that could make a huge impact for the traveler experience. Its sad they can't be bothered.

Bi-partisan committees of people on both sides who care about making our state better is what it is going to take to get Mississippi to where we all know it can go. I was there for the first time in a while this week and I agree the place is filthy. The carpets and tile must never be cleaned and a lot of the seating in the passenger areas had rusted metal parts showing. Not a very welcoming first impression for visitors to the Capital City.
