JPS Eighth-Worst public school district in State
Spreadsheet of grades by district and school.
Mississippi schools backslid in the school accountability ratings released this morning. More school districts graded "D" and "F" while fewer schools rated "A" or "B".
There are 11 fewer "A"s and "B"'s school districts in 2025 than in 2024 and 11 fewer than in 2023. There were 87 fewer schools rated "A"'s and 32 fewer "B"'s than in 2023.

Wow! Pearl and Rankin County are not in the top 10 in the state.
@11:46
Who cares? They are still A rated districts
11:46, Wow, you can read. Neither is Madison.
Neither is Madison County. All these have "A" grades. Your point?
Hmmn. The charter schools do not seem to be doing too well.
Madison Middle School scored the highest of all middle schools in the state for the second straight year in a row. Surprised Madison is not in the top ten!
Lol. Snowflakes.
I want to know what the criteria to rank as "Top 10".
Bennie's district continues to drag the State down...
Everybody keeps writing off Clinton. Clinton schools continue to outscore Madison and Rankin.
Clinton schools are all the proof you need that school choice will work.
Clinton is on the come-up in general. The Rising Spring development everyone forgot about is going to be incredible. I believe it was described as "the nicest development between Atlanta and Dallas" when pitched, and I know the competition isn't stiff there but will be nice to see.
Clinton is a wonder. They have more infiltration from Jackson but they keep their standards. It can be done.
Madison and to a greater extent Rankin Co. have a larger infiltration from Jackson than Clinton. Drive thru Flowood, Brandon, Ridgeland and neighborhoods east of I55 in Madison. All who can afford to escape the hell scape of Jackson are fleeing.
The number of school districts is mind boggling, especially having 2 in smaller counties.
I wish schools in rankin county were as good as Jackson’s schools
Not to worry...Jason White, Gerard and that bunch of nonsensical, non-profit radicals are going to solve this problem with parental choice or whatever they're calling it this week.
Madison County scores take a hit from Ridgeland and Flora.
I'd like to see where Madison Middle, Rosa Scot and Madison Central score.
Madison County schools are still very good but they have been in a gradual slide starting with the retirement of Mike Kent. That man knows how to run a school system.
What's wrong with the Charter schools? Those scores are atrocious. And Jason is not keen on paying $7000 for the 70,000 private/catholic/homeschool kids in Mississippi.
" Gerard and that bunch of nonsensical radicals".
That's the funniest thing I've read on the internet all day.
Laughing very out loud ...
Jackson Prep is about to come out of the closet for school choice.
Charter schools seem to be a failed experiment in Mississippi.
Bogus number across board. Ask any former teacher, the present ones stay mum for fear of their jobs.
Tater and his school choice cucks were at the football game last night in Rankin. Hopefully some of the test 250 and f-250 exhaust got in his veins and lungs.
If a man wants to read, he can find a tutor and learn on his own. He doesn’t need to spend 12 years with some damned government employee from a damned government jobs program to teach him. It should be obvious to one of even the meanest intelligence that from Savannah to San Francisco, from Duluth to D’Iberville, American public schools are an irredeemable failure. It’s way to hell and gone long past overdue that the several states try some different path and try to catch up to the rest of the world.
"Clinton schools are all the proof you need that school choice will work."
How does that even make sense, since parental choice has nothing to do with Clinton schools...They are a product of districting.
Yes, Mike Kent is a fine man and was a great coach, teacher, principal and superintendent. But he never had Ridgeland High School. It wasn't yet invented. It drags the district down in so many metrics.
Mike is glad he'll never have to personally deal with Canton oozing into Madison district.
Public school is a baby-sitting program that provides jobs to poor American women who want to feel useful.
