Hizzoner made a rather startling claim in a WLBT interview recently:
In a 2017 Guardian interview, you described yourself as a revolutionary. What makes Mayor Lumumba a revolutionary? If you really get to the heart of my ideology as a person, and if circumstances are optimal, I’m really kind of conservative at heart. But I think to be conservative - conservative is a privilege. To conserve means to maintain what is in place. We have communities that are not able to benefit from all that life has to offer. I want a consistent level, then we have to work in order to build something that’s worth conserving. I think a revolutionary is just someone who has enough compassion, enough concern for people’s conditions, that they’re willing to step up. Speak out about the conditions and advocate and put their hands in the dirt to help build a better condition. I’m for truth no matter who’s telling it. I’m for justice, no matter who it’s for or against. In what ways are you conservative? Well, you know, I would say I think that we should manage expenses. I do believe that in some sense, government that is big enough to provide everything is big enough to take it all away. And so, that is a conservative mantra. We have to be self-sufficient as a community. I think it is important to know how you got to a space, but you also have to realize that you are the cavalry that you’ve been waiting on.
The Mississippi Republican Party was having none of it and issued a statement:
“Mississippians have seen over and over again that Mayor Lumumba will say and do anything to get elected. Mayor Lumumba’s policies and public positions do not align with the conservative principles upheld by the Mississippi Republican Party,” said Rance Bilbo, Executive Director. “Our party remains committed to advancing fiscal responsibility, limited government, and traditional values, which differ significantly from the mayor’s approach.” “Chokewe Lumumba saying he’s a conservative is like saying an undercover FBI agent is a real estate developer. Just saying it doesn’t make it so. Lumumba’s radical left policies have run our capitol city into the ground and endangered our citizens. Even Lumumba’s friends Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, and Michael Bloomberg would find his assertion laughable, if it weren’t so sad. It’s hard to imagine someone more anti-conservative than Lying Liberal Lumumba,” said Mike Hurst, State Chairman of the Mississippi Republican Party.
WYAB talk show host Shaun Yurtkuran had some fun with AI:

Help Trump!
Save me like you did Eric Adams
Were his lips moving during the interview? Yes? He was lying. Right? Or was it a "perception" of lying?
The Republican Party in Mississippi & the National Republican Party are no longer conservative. Their failure to balance Federal budgets or reduce the Federal debt or to keep increasing the state budget balanced primarily with Federal funds in not conservatism. The whole bunch are spend, spend, spend so we can get re-elected.
Although I agree that the mayor is full of bull. I also admit that it is very possible to be a radical-revolutionary conservative. History shows that it has been done many times before. In fact in an obtuse way MAGA fits that description. Hopefully their revolution will be mostly peaceful.
I've been speculating for a while that Choke is fishing for a presidential pardon!
>Chokewe Lumumba saying he’s a conservative is like saying an undercover FBI agent is a real estate developer.
LOL. Aiming for his glass jaw I see.
Hurst did not have to say that. Republican and conservative are not synonymous. Believe it or not, a lot of black people are conservative.
This is more bullshit. You know what's conservative? Managing your resources but when you don't maintain the water plants, the libraries, or Thalia Mara, they end up needing millions to remediate - millions that would not have been necessary if they had been maintained. Every word out of this man's mouth is a lie. Most of us are sick of it.
He’s about as conservative as MAGA. In other words, they are both as extremist as is imaginable.
11:39 - You make a very keen (and accurate) observation about Republicans and the government's profligate spending. I first noticed it when Trent Lott ascended to Senate Majority Leader. All that changed was who was raiding the U.S. Treasury and giving away the taxpayers' goodies.
The cult of Reaganism is dead. Get over it.
The cult of Reaganism is dead. Hollowed out by its own slavish devotion to profits above Americans.
Based on personality and character, Lumumba has more in common with Trump than not.
Politics in general have a tendency to gravitate toward the mean, or normal. If current MAGA policies and actions seem extreme, they are being implemented to correct the counter-extreme liberal policies. MSU and Ole Miss football are great examples. They have occasional good years, occasional bad years, but will never be viewed as anything more than mediocre over time.
Does this mean we will see him put his hand on his heart and say the Pledge of Allegiance? It could happen, we did hear some of the democrat mayoral candidates say Make Jackson Great Again.
Populism is the only overlap in those two circles.
The mayor is an idealogical chameleon. If he thought it would be more beneficial to become MAGA, then he would.
I honestly have more respect for Kanye West.
Of course, the things Ye is saying are abhorrently antisemetic and I cant condone them😉
However, he is standing up for something he believes in despite the risks. I totally respect that conviction.
I love these comments of how the GOP is opposed to "the people." 75% of billionaires in the US are Democrat. Harris more than doubled the funds raised by Trump. As one former Dem told me, "I don't have enough money to be a Democrat."
From personally passing out donuts to a line of voters at Christ United to hiding in a closet to escape the Pledge of Allegiance, to falsely accusing Kenneth Stokes and Ashby Foote of colluding to take bribes from Waste Management, this mayor has been the singularly most morally and professionally corrupt politician in the state because he has not one iota of value and hates his job and the people he has cheated by both his incompetence and his infamy.
IMO the only one he hasn't out-corrupted is the late Robert Schuler Smith.
Chokwe isn’t the corrupt and morally bankrupt mayor that Jackson needs. He is the mayor that the corrupt and morally bankrupt citizens of Jackson deserve!
Jane @ 12:17..you are so correct and spot on!
Chokeme would also look “fly” wearing a STOKES cap
I believe Lil Choke and his supporters are personally responsible for multiple $100B in real estate and infrastructure depreciation and hundreds of business losses in Jackson. Imagine if a young Dale Danks had been mayor the last 12 years! Jackson could have been a dynamic, thriving city not a decayed and devalued embarrassment and an insult to America, which senseless destruction Lil Choke and Sherman have as a shared epitaph for eternity.
I wonder if his plea bargain negotiations didn't go well.
Could this be Chokwe's Plan B?
"...is like saying an undercover FBI agent is a real estate developer." Heh heh heh. Good one.
The Mayor of Jackson, MS (“the child killing capital, not the capital of the State of Mississippi” according to Ward 3 Councilman Kenneth Stokes), Chokwe Lumumba, and his White Liberal Democrat so-called Progressive enablers (“the most dangerous thing in the entire Western Hemisphere” that Malcom X warned us about) love crime and chaos far too much to be conservative or MAGA.
And the two (2) children killed in ten (10) days, the brutal murder of 6-year old Kingston Frazier, etc., etc., etc., is not enough to get Democrats (including the NAACP that opposes law enforcement help from Mississippi’s Capital Police) to stop using crime as a tool to keep Independents and Republicans from moving to Jackson; because Democrats want one-party cities, states, and eventually the country – forever.
Chowke's version of MAGA: Make America Go Away
Not to mention the death of the Fortner girl going to graduation practice when an uncovered pothole whatever you call it cost this mother & father their only child. To incompetent to maintain the city.
7:53, I've been reading your various misquotations and paraphrasing of Malcolm X for what seems like years now, so here's the actual statement:
"“The White liberal is the worst enemy to America and the worst enemy to the Black man. Let me first explain what I mean by this White liberal. In America there’s no such thing as Democrats and Republicans anymore. That’s antiquated. In America you have liberals and conservatives. . . . The only people who are still living in the past and thinks in terms of “I’m a Democrat” or “I’m a Republican” is the American Negro." . . .
"but White people in America are divided into two groups, liberals and Republicans…or rather, liberals and conservatives. And when you find White people vote in the political picture, they’re not divided in terms of Democrats and Republicans, they’re divided consistently as conservatives and as liberal. The Democrats who are conservative vote with Republicans who are conservative." . . .
"You find this in Washington, DC. Now the White liberals aren’t White people who are for independence, who are liberal, who are moral, who are ethical in their thinking, they are just a faction of White people who are jockeying for power the same as the White conservatives are a faction of White people who are jockeying for power."
"Now they are fighting each other for booty, for power, for prestige and the one who is the football in the game is the Negro. Twenty million Black people in this country are a political football, a political pawn an economic football, an economic pawn, a social football, a social pawn...”

12:36 PM, Malcom X gave more than one speech. See linked video below with that white person you see calling himself a liberal is “the most dangerous thing in the entire Western Hemisphere.” The quote is VERBATIM.
The word Liberal became so toxic they started calling themselves Progressives, which is an oxymoron. Innocent children dying due to purposeful high crime and chaos in order to control cities forever- is not progress.
But those White Democrats and their grifter buddies like Chokwe in cities all across America make sure to protect themselves by living behind gate’s, don’t they? Or worse, living in the Republican suburbs and sending “their” babies to elite private schools.
That is when they’re not flying down to El Salvador to rescue an illegal migrant.

11:59: This is the part, or some variation thereof, that you leave out, which provides the context of what he means by "white liberal."
"Now the White liberals aren’t White people who are for independence, who are liberal, who are moral, who are ethical in their thinking, they are just a faction of White people who are jockeying for power the same as the White conservatives are a faction of White people who are jockeying for power."
He was not talking about everyone to the left of center. He was talking about those with their own agendas. (He was also talking about conservatives like you)
12:58, you are correct, “he was not talking about everyone to the left of center.” While subjective, most non-biased would agree though, he was talking about the White Democrats that team up and provide cover for the grifter like Chokwe’s of America - in exchange for votes for White Democrats during state and federal elections. This especially includes those within the so-called media, always finding something or someone to blame other than the soft on crime lawlessness Democrats purposely use in order to control and make cities like Jackson a one-party city forever.
When asked if they thought a Democrat could win in a not that many years ago Mississippi election, a White Democrat campaign staff member responded, “no, black people aren’t mad right now, and when black people aren’t mad, they don’t vote.” Verbatim. If black people only knew how very little White Democrats actually think of them. Remember what Harry Reid said about Barack Obama?
It’s the big scam. Keep black people mad enough to vote Democrat. Take the focus off of the serious issues, like innocent children being murdered and killed with stray bullets. Talk about crimes that haven’t happened in 50 years. Tell them Republicans are going to put you back in chains. Tell them this is our city. Racism, racism, racism; over and over and over. While the cities crumble.
The elementary math is extremely simple, if your city is going to hell, all the electorate has to do is threaten to turn said city over to the other party. Something similar happened with the crack epidemic. African American preachers told their elected officials, we elect you to fix this, and they did, with the Crime Bill. Of course politicians and lawyers can’t do anything without f’ing it up and some penalties were excessive, but that does not negate the absolute fact that the crack epidemic was fixable, and it got fixed. The very same could happen with crime in cities like Jackson.
Lastly, your argument loses all credibility when stating “He was also talking about conservatives like you.” No, 12:58, it’s you, and those like you that stand by while children needlessly die. You own this. You are the undeniable problem. Mississippi conservatives want to help Jackson with crime, but the NAACP, the Democrats running Jackson and the White Democrat hypocrites living safely without the risk of their babies catching a stray bullet, oppose help from the Capital Police. Democrats know crime is their way of keeping voters out of Jackson, that don’t vote Democrat. The big scam.
4:24:
"It’s the big scam. Keep [white] people mad enough to vote [Republican]. Take the focus off of the serious issues, like [fill in the blank]. Talk about crimes that haven’t happened [like stolen presidential elections]. Tell them [Democrats] are going to [brainwash their children and make gay or transgender]. Tell them this is our [country]."
You see how that script works both ways, don't you? THAT is what Malcolm X was talking about, in my opinion.
7:11, your point is valid that both parties/all politicians use rhetoric, but it’s up to the electorate to draw the line. And my goodness, if the rampant crime, if the deaths of innocents, if the deaths of children isn’t that line, then what is it, and what have we become?
When the Democrat media states “fiery but mostly peaceful protests,” while 8-year old Secoriea Turner (do you even know her name?) dies from a stray bullet sent via one of those mostly peaceful protestors from an illegal barricade; an illegal barricade Atlanta Democrat Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms chose to ignore for political reasons, then what have we become? When Jackson, MS has 2 innocent children die from stray bullets within 10 days, what have we become? When thugs are allowed (encouraged?) to roam the streets of Jackson, ending with the murder of helpless 6-year old Kingston Frazier, what have we become?
Violent crime is not a Democrat issue. Violent crime is not a Republican issue. Violent crime is a moral issue. Violent crime is a good vs evil issue. And every single one of us within the electorate should be able to hear a story, not knowing whether it’s about Democrats, or about Republicans, and make a decision based on morals, based upon good vs evil.
Enjoyed the discussion. Take care.
6:16, This conversation cause me to think more deeply, and I appreciate it. I think that's the way conversations are supposed to work. Thanks for taking the time and effort. Peace to you.
