Governor Updates Vaccination Progress

Governor Tate Reeves is providing an update on Covid-19 vaccinations.  The presser is streamed below.

Here are the numbers on vaccinations:

62,744 vaccinations

57,714 are first dose.  The remainder received both doses.

7,500 have been given in the last 24 hours.

Vaccinations are 2% of total population.

Vaccines will be offered to anyone over 65 years old or suffers from a pre-existing condition that makes her more vulnerable to the virus.

The Governor said vaccines will be made available to first responders very soon. He expects hospitalizations to increase.

The Governor ordered state flags to be lowered to half-mast to honor the Capitol Police officer killed last week in Washington.  He also waived the waiting period to take advantage of the new unemployment benefits.

The Health Department reported 1,648 cases and 98 deaths. Hospitalizations and ICUs remain at an all-time high.

Dr. Dobbs lamented that only 16% of the vaccine were going to blacks.  Dr. Dobbs and Governor Reeves admitted the vaccination program is moving too slow.

WHEN and WHERE will vaccines be offered to anyone over 65???

Thank you Tater said...

I’m glad we have Tate. I look at the mess other states are having and Tate is doing a great job

I ain't saying anything good about the governor or any other state official

BUT, yesterday, I got my first Moderna shot at Oxford . . . in the snow. It was a drive-through format, manned by National Guard personnel. Were they local? Do not know. Actually seemed to be from closer to Memphis and perhaps a medical unit. Cars were from all over. The guy ahead of me had Washington County tag.

Long and the short of it -- all went smoothly. In and out in about an hour and forty minutes. I brought a book and thanked God for the chance to immunize my 76 year old butt. Appointment was pushed back due to snow. Real heroes so far as I am concerned.

There for a second it was as though I wasn't in Mississippi. It was, kinda like, dare I say it? It was almost like Alabama.

Vaccine appointments are now available for 65+. I just signed up for Canton next week.

What fool, other than family, is celebrating the governor. You still CAN NOT call a health department of governor's office telephone number to inquire about scheduling. But, by lowering the flag, he obviously wants to be back on CNN with a new sport-coat. Clown!

Trying to sign up now since the drugs I'm on affect the immune system pretty drastically. Can't get through on the signup page. This sucks.

Literally everyone in MS has an underlying condition. This is about to be a shit show, much more so than it already is.

4:00...So...you brought a book. Think how convenient it would have been had you been able to get the shot in the town where you live. Hope you enjoyed the book.

Thankful said...

I got my vaccine at the drive through in Canton. Entire process was about 20 min which included the 15 min observation. Can’t say enough good things about the Gov and the National Guard. Very impressive operation.

@ 4:16, yeah, I brought a book, yeah, I'm happy as a clam to have gotten the shot. Yeah, it's a shit show but not nearly as bad as being intubated, or losing a leg, or kidney function, or infecting my grandkids.

Do the right thing for a change, get on your knees and thank God you live in the USA and that the vaccine is available and that people are getting it and that young men and women are standing out in the snow to see that old geezers like me get to live a while longer.

Quit whining. The universe owes you/me nothing.

I wish I could convey to you how sick chronic whining spoiled Americans make me. Shame on you.

Another stumble. Can't sign-up online or telephones. How long will we have to wait? 2%, what a joke. Not a job well done.

Late 80-year old in-laws vaccinated today in Tupelo - wife took them and said the process was very smooth with plenty of help including National Guard soldiers at the site. Just got thru the MSDH website and scheduled her vaccine for next week - she is under 65 but immunocompromised. The website was very slow and kicked me off a few times, but persistence pays off.

" wants to be back on CNN with a new sport-coat."

Well It's worked for the current Mayor of Jackson, ( son of former Mayor . . . Edwin Finley Taliaferro ).

Seems Tate is just following the left's game plan.

Good for governor Reeves !

Not so fast Tater Tot! I know of many nursing homes that have not even received a date for resident and employee vaccinations. The administrator at the home where my mother resides contacted the contracted pharmacy, Walgreens, to inquire about scheduling and the representative purportedly responded, "We have you listed as an assisted living facility." Absolutely ridiculous! Get a clue, Tater!

Amazing how so many people who said Covid was no big deal are running to get vaccinations. I'm glad more people came to their senses.

Anyone trying to get an appointment on the website needs to be persistent. It took three hours of trying but I finally got mine done. If you live in the Philadelphia/Meridian area there are a quite a few slots showing up as available before next Friday. I actually got one for this week, but I would expect them to fill up rather quickly now that half the population qualifies.

Apparently UMMC was completely unprepared for the volume since the website doesn’t work. I get all the way to an appointment day and time, then error message. So it’s great that we are allowing 65+ folks to be eligible to get the vaccine, but it sad that the IT department can’t have a website that actually works.

@5:57 PM, so that is Reeves' fault? Get a clue.

5:04 I can't sign up via the web address supplied either.
I don't think it accepting age 65 or older yet.
Hasn't been up date by state tech workers yet.
Left hand doesn't know what right hand is doing.

Left hand - Tater Tot
Right hand - State tech workers

Still just a cold with a 99% recovery rate. Go for it. I'm waiting for something real to hit us.

Wuhan Flu
Kung Flu
and now....
Chinese Take-Out (Because the shit will literally take you out)

5:57, get your facts straight. Tater has no control over nursing homes. Walgreens was given the contract to vaccinate nursing homes by the feds. Good old capitalism. Walgreens is the one with no plan after accepting the job.

Not sure why anyone is cheering for the governor or Dobbs.

There actually is a contest right now to see who the best governor is. The best governor is the one who gets his (or her) population vaccinated the fastest, starting with the older age citizens. It is a contest to see (literally) who is the best at saving lives. Because the faster you vaccinate the elderly, the more lives you save.

There are many trackers now on the states. The two that I looked at tonight place Tate as #44 of 50.

You want our state to be in the lowest 10-percentile? I think that is awful.

All this yackety-yack and not one single response to the request for a number to call. All these people saying they got the shot or signed up or got put on a list....what the hell number is there to call? Since nobody can post a contact number, I think you're all lying. How many times can Tate's staff post here anyway?

PS: It's CVS with the nursing home contract.

Signed up for vaccine at 5:00AM this morning. We live in Madison and will have to drive an hour and a half each way to get it due to all the local facilities being booked. Could be worse...we'll take it.

Good luck on getting an appointment.

Hey, Governor, where is access to the appointments? The website doesn't even open.

My wife has gotten both of her shots as scheduled through UMMC. She had no problem scheduling them, and UMMC had no problem delivering them as scheduled.

60+ 1st responder said...

Is there a schedule posted for the various groups? We know now that 65 and older may get theirs. Who's next? first responders? 60+?

For those folks who want to congratulate the governor and think Dr. Dobbs is doing such an outstanding job, let me remind you that they have had since last August to plan for this. Last August.

The website is not working. Neighbor, over 60 and with cancer, has been on the computer website since early this am. She is now informed that she is #4003 in line. To communicate with the scheduling center. After spending hours waiting.

Frontline healthcare worker got dose of Moderna at Trustmark Park. Cannot schedule a second dose.

As a reminder, after the first dose, you are still not fully protected. Israel announced today that hundreds of people who have received one dose are now in the hospital with Covid.

Another reminder to seniors: Neither the governor nor Dobbs has pushed healthcare facilities to require the vaccine as a condition of employment. The vaccine denial rate at some facilities exceeds 20%.

What all this means is that the vulnerable (those over 60) will continue to die for lack of vaccination.

More cheers for Tate and Dr. Dobbs?

More fake posters saying they or the wife got the shot but not a single one who can state who they contacted at what number to manage scheduling. Not one. Carry on.

@7:54 There was a schedule posted at the Department of Health website, but it got completely messed up by the recommendation from the feds yesterday to open things up to those with underlying health conditions. That group was originally after teachers and first responders, but they got bumped up.

At this point there isn't anything certain. Very likely it will be teachers, first responders, public transportation drivers, and front-line workers like cashiers that open up next. Maybe single out teachers first so we can get schools running again.

@5:51 I signed up on the website last night. It took hours of refreshing and starting over but I finally got through. Co-worker this morning told me they now have a queue set up to make things more reliable, but she was number 4,000 in line.

whoever designed the website to book vaccination appointments is totally incompetent. You get to the end of the questionnaire and you get an error message; this happens over and over and finally you are booted. it seems everyone is a shithole asleep at the wheel.

I just tried to schedule a free, drive-through vaccination & was placed on a wait list to get a response - I was number 8,081 on the list - I gave up, even after being told to keep the window open so I could see my place in line in real time. Nevermind. I'll wait until my next regular doctor's appointment to get vaccinated.

Be patient. The online portal is hosted on a Commodore 64.

Excellent work to everyone here who got the vaccine! You were just injected with an untested substance that Pfizer specifically asked for (and received) immunity from litigation if you are injured or killed by it.

Anonymous said...

Just waited 2 hours in the wait queue to only find out there are no available appointments in the state. The next to last page shows that a couple clinics have appointments available but when you click on them, the next box states there's no availability. Why the MSDH can't put on there home page that there's "no appointments available try later" is beyond me. I guess it's more fun to waste 2 hours to find that out----Agree with poster, we had several months to prepare for this and it seems the first thought of how to distribute the shot crossed their minds as the first box of vaccine rolled in. I guess it's a lot easier to act pissed and throw hissy fits because people won't wear masks.---Poor planning all around

For the ignorant dipsticks saying 5:57 needs to get it straight, Pudgy Tot's administration, specifically the Department of Health, provided the list of nursing homes to Walgreens. That list was incorrect. Thus, yes, it's a Tater flub.

1:58 It is still many orders of magnitude safer than getting COVID. Many millions of people vaccinated with extremely few adverse reactions. COVID has a 1-in-200 chance of killing you and a 1-in-20 chance of putting you in the hospital. Even the most common serious effect of vaccination, anaphylactic shock, only happens in 1-in-100,000 cases and so far all have been able to be treated with epinephrine.

Can you show me a vaccine that had been proven to cause adverse effects a month or more after being given? Even the extremely rare neurological problems that can occur from any vaccine show up relatively quickly.

You simply can't compare a vaccine given once with medication like the COX inhibitors that caused severe disorders after being given consistently over a long period of time.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
