Give it a rest people. The MSDH, who's director speaks daily with the governor, did not anticipate this surge in requests for vaccinations. I mean, how could they have known that people were wanting to get vaccinated after being locked up and locked out for a year? Y'all act like you have espn or something.

Getting a vaccine in and of itself this fast is unprecedented. Period. I posted an interview with the CEO of Merck a few months ago. WHAT DID HE SAY?

The second issue is this issue around manufacturing at scale. There's seven and a half billion people on the planet right now. And we've never had a vaccine that's been used in that larger population. So even if you have a vaccine, scaling it up to manufacture at those kinds of numbers, and then being able to figure out how to distribute it particularly in the areas of the world where people can't afford the vaccine, where the last mile challenge is greatest. That's going to be a huge issue for us.

Only a simpleton would expect no logistical problems in the first 60-90 days of the rollout. Now, if we are still having problems in May, that is a different story but come on. They have to produce and then distribute. If it takes until May or June, that is STILL record time.

Part of the problem was the CDC and their damned guidelines. They botched it just as they did the testing early last year. The Governors rely on their guidelines because it is "science." Then the Governors realize those guidelines create more problems and they are adjusting. Unless you are an idiot like Cuomo.

Most deadly pandemic in 100 years. No one could have possibly foreseen that a lot of people would want to be vaccinated against it. Even if that were true, it still doesn't explain why the rollout was a cluster from the get-go. (Unless those unadministered doses walked out the back door - Let's see an audit of the vaccine supply).

I logged on to the website and spent a few hours trying to get through the various cra - shes, but ended up with multiple choices of sites and times. I chose the Trustmark Park location and successfully scheduled a time for next Monday.

Sorry his failed - but he didn't follow through. Should have remembered the old adage about "if at first you don't succeed" - I did and when I ran into the same roadblock he did, I backed up and did it again. Sorry for his 2 1/2 hours, but when tens of thousands are trying to do the same thing at the same time, you have to expect and be willing to work with the complications.

Now, reading the latest statement from Dobbs we should also not be surprised. There is only so much of the vaccine to go around. Once its all subscribed, have to wait on the next delivery. Fearing that potential shortage was why I was willing to "try, try again" after hitting the roadblock. Sorry for the guy that you repeated who gave up, but I'm looking forward to driving through come Monday.

Tate did a terrible job managing expectations. Yesterday he was very pleased to move up the vaccines for the next group, spoke of how well things were going and how they would fix the appointment issues. Just forgot the was a very limited supply of vaccine.

I don’t understand why on earth Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilitates who have been in lockdown unable to see family for almost a year have not yet been vaccinated. They were slated to receive them directly after frontline health care workers. Because of someone’s terrible screw up, anybody and everyone is now eligible over age 65. Pitiful leadership by State officials responsible for this. Guess Governor is spending all his time keeping up with our worthless President.

Also just counting how much we had (25000 I believe) vs how many people with high risk conditions here (2nd fattest state) of course this was going to happen. How did we go from over 75 to teenage smokers being vaccinated in only one day? Only a fool would think that makes sense. My wife is 72 and in remission but can’t be vaccinated because a fat smoker beats us to the punch. Are we missing something?

6:10 - the first round of doses was reserved for those very people you speak of, along with the folks that have to treat them and others. There are doses reserved for them in the existing stash - they are being distributed and administered by CVS and Walgreens, under a federal contract. They are separate from the vaccines allocated to the state. And the administering of the shots are not under state control or management.

The changing of the target to allow over 65 did nothing about your mama, or whoever it is that you are worried about. What it did do was move the over 65 ahead of the first responders and some other groups like that

Did you get anything confirming your appt? I got through establishing a Microsoft account. Then I got an email from them saying UMMC had access my account. Nothing after this. I know they have my name, birthday, and email address. My appt is tomorrow afternoon. I don't know if I need to go or not. I have been told you need to take a confirmation with you. Help.....Anyone.

@6:01. Tate's managing expectations is not in question here. Those in the 65 plus category were slated to start receiving the vaccine in mid-February. What he did yesterday was move that line up, because the supply and demand on the existing supply allowed for it.

Some several thousands now have an appointment for the coming days/weeks. And that used up the stash that was available. Now the folks over 65 that didn't get an appointment will have to wait --------------- how long? Until what they were told two weeks ago, mid-February.

So, net result. Some folks got it earlier than they had expected. The rest of them will get it when the state receives its next delivery.

What would you rather Tate have done so that he wouldn't have mismanaged expectations. Left it like it was so that none of those over 65 were in line to get their shot, that there would be excess supply on hand now, and kept to the original plan? Then there would not have been any expectations raised, and there also would be none of the over 65 in line to get their desired vaccine. That would have been a great way to keep from mismanaging expectations. Glad you are not in charge.

Early this morning, my wife and I went on the site and got appointments for next week. However, her appointment is in one county and mine is in an adjacent county. We are 70 years old and don't care where we have to go because we have the appointments.

It would definitely upset me if we were told to wait until mid-February and then found out some jerk who smoked, had high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and was morbidly obese from enjoying one too many meals at the Golden Corral buffet got the vaccine before us.

I was finally able to schedule an appointment for Monday of next week. That puts the date for my second shot on February 15th. Will those of us requiring our second shot get priority for the next batch?

These State Employees are busting their asses to try to serve as many people as they can.
Believe it or not, they also have to sleep, eat, shit, ect. (just like the people that they are trying to help).
On Average , only about one hundred State Employees are dealing with thousands of callers every hour.

God Bless the Health Department workers, the Unemployment workers and the other State Employees that are doing their best in this unprecedented situation !

Last I heard, the State is hiring people every day to help out.
Some may get "money" faster by trying to secure a job . . . rather than bitching about a delay with a free government check.

COVID-19 has been a disaster. The vaccination process as it has played out thus far is likewise a disaster. It would not have taken a rocket scientist to predict the registration site would be overrun when it was announced that people over age 65 could begin receiving the vaccine. The computer gurus who set up the registration website did not have the common sense to anticipate the numbers, which is a mirror image of the computer issues with people trying to log on for unemployment early in the pandemic.

With the vaccine shortage and no additional supply anticipated until mid February, the state department of Health and UMMC need to get more website options open and functioning now so they can be ready for the next wave of registration.

Young smokers before 65+? That must be part of the CDC "science." Remember, the left refers to COVID-19 as the "boomer remover."

Interesting that Tater got himself qualified for the vaccine. I am 74 and my wife is 69. We have tried for a week or more to call the numbers given or find out how to register. Today, Supertalk gave these two numbers:

Neither of those numbers is legit. If they ARE legit, they either don't answer or you get a beep beep beep for hours.

You can receive a vaccine by showing up without an appointment. You would receive the dose destined for a no-show.

6:56 The MSDH website says "You may still schedule your second dose if you have already received your first." Thinking that means they will prioritize those that have already received the first shot which would be consistent with FDA recommendations.

I got my first shot today and just scheduled my second. Once you tell the system it is your second shot and the date of the first one it will bring up available sites. I couldn't get one at my original location, but I did get one in Pearl for February 11.

And, pray tell, please explain why teachers are so far down the pecking order, weeks after all smokers?

How on earth will people get the second shot in the required time frame if they can’t even get the first shot!

Most who visit this page believe teachers, poorly paid as they may be, get better benefits, upon retirement, than most....so, they deserve no 'front line' status just because they are in close proximity with hundreds of young people on a daily basis.

To the defenders of this cluster—the decision makers made a huge mistake by just opening up the 65+ in one day.Why didn’t they ease into the situation by moving to 70 and above one week and 65+ the next week.Anyone with common sense should know that big gap should cause a problem with scheduling. The problem seems to be in letting government workers make big time sensitive decisions. Chic -Fnd-Lay would already vaccinated every person who wanted a shot and given them a chicken sandwich to go.

There is a life and death contest now being played by the governors. They knew (last August) that their execution (they are executives) and priorities would/will matter. As with any executive, they wold need to be nimble and alter strategies.

The contest is to see which governor saves the most lives. And that depends on which governor gets the vaccine the fastest into the arms of the most at risk. The most at risk (and the science supports this) is people 90+ followed by people 80+ followed by people 70+ and so on.

Nevada's governor it appears will come in last. Although they are about #40 today in total distribution, their priorities (originally) were not based on age but on political favoritism, as if handing out tax credits. Old people will be dying there for months for lack of a vaccine.

Florida is looking great. Good distribution numbers and starting with the elderly.

So far, Mississippi has about the 40th best governor. Out of 50. Do you accept that?

10:29 If you actually completed the process you would have been taken to a screen with your information, scheduled date of vaccination, and a scannable computer code for you to print out. You would also receive this same information sent to the email address you provided.

If you didn't get this then you don't have an appointment. You can show up, but they aren't going to give you the shot if you aren't in the system.
