I bet wearing masks has everything to do with it?

I'm normally always right. I'm feeling extra smug for being right every time I said it here. PUT THE MASK ON!

We wouldn't have had to shut down the economy if all air travel had been totally frozen (even returning US nationals, not sorry) and order mask/facial covering wearing in public.

I can’t imagine anyone out there ignorant of social distancing or not knowing to wear a mask when you have to go around other people.

11:13 for the win. that’s what China, South Korea, Singapore did.

instead we denied, hoped, bungled...shut down not prevented...

Not going to wear a mask. Ever!!!!

Idiots on here living in la la land. Do this and that and it wouldn't have happened. Go back to your caves.

@12:13, you can stick your head in the sand but our infection and death rate speaks for itself.

@1113- the covid virus is 0.15 microns in size. A n-95 mask, if sealed perfectly allows particles smaller than 0.3 microns to pass through it. Add that the virus can enter your body via your eyes, you see that masks are nothing more than a sneeze guard or a placebo.

Fabric masks are even less effective, allowing the virus to live in it for days,

I remember in 2009 the swine flu killed a little over 17,000 Americans. They told us as physicians very little about it. Media barely mentioned it. We didn't suspend any airline flights like currently to China nor did we test as many people. We've now tested more people than any other country. The problem that the posters about have is they make this political because they are likely not trained medically and have little knowledge. From a medical standpoint masks do very little to protect you from any virus unless you wear it properly. As for the gloves they do much more harm than good as 99% of the general public don't know how to take them off without spread. The China travel ban was the largest factor in prevention.

Numbers without structure and description are worthless. If 548 have been hospitalized and 96 are dead, does that mean 17.5% of those hospitalized have died? Do we assume all the dead were hospitalized at the time of death? Do we have a clue? Nope. More health department bullshit, scattered around here on a daily basis.

I have questioned all the official information given to the public regarding dealing with this pandemic since hearing that wearing a mask was useless @11:13 a.m. Who are these so called experts?

someone said...

1:12
Even the CDC admitted they were wrong on advising the public not to wear masks.
I’ve been wearing both gloves and mask and I don’t have the virus.

@12:59

The sneeze guard is what makes mask wearing effective. There is an animation making the rounds showing that one sneeze in walmart spread Covid-19 over 3 grocery store aisles and dusting every surface.. It's not a placebo and it works. Stop helping the virus spread with ignorant disinfo.

@1:12 I marvel at the ignorance of many wearing gloves thinking they are protecting themselves by wearing them. It just gives them a false sense of security and in my opinion endangers them more because of this. They touch everything under the son with their gloved hands only to touch all their personal items and face with these same gloves. I see folks wearing masks that do not fit tightly but it makes them feel empowered.

I leave you with this question to ponder for the elderly we are trying to protect. Do the number of life days saved exceed the number of quality days lost for the entire elderly population? Every day that grandparents/retired folks cannot see their grandchildren, play cards with friends, come out of their assisted living room to visit with friends, etc., is a day they will not get back in the future. They are already in the twilight of their lives. A day at the very end of life usually has lower quality than a day earlier in life. Bottom line: are we really looking out for their best interest by closing them off from the people and things they love to try to keep them from contracting a virus that most will recover from?

Always slows down over weekend due to clinics closed. It’ll pop back up Tuesday morning.

Just read this; "Cordero, 41, has been fighting off a slew of ailments in recent weeks, having been placed in an intensive care unit and diagnosed with pneumonia while battling coronavirus-like symptoms. Kloots previously revealed that despite testing negative for coronavirus twice, doctors are convinced that Cordero is fighting COVID-19, leading to a third test." So I'm guessing that one way or another this poor bastards listed cause of death will be from Covid. Makes clear sense to me. The testing may not be as adequate as thought by the Bosses.

@248. So if you are infected wearing.a bandana, your sneeze only goes 20 feet instead of 30? Don’t spread disinformation. It’s bad form.

Anonymous said...

Please get this through your thick skulls, a mask or gloves of anykind will not stop the spread of a virus. Please think about it and use sound logic.

5:54 is right. Maintaining social distance of at least 6 feet, washing your hands, not touching your face when you have been out of your house before you wash your hands is much more important. Cloth face masks that are home made or not surgical grade are not effective to block the droplets from your sneeze. They may be better than nothing, but to rely on them is simply foolish.

This week goggles will be sold out.

I wonder how many people are discarding their cloth masks if they make more than one trip. Surely they aren’t driving with them on.

Anonymous said...

A mask isn’t going to stop the spread, but it certainly can reduce it. If using a mask cuts the risk of you spreading the disease to another person by even 50% then isn’t it worth the effort. It’s amazing to see the people who only view things in black and white. If it isn’t 100% effective then it shouldn’t be done at all, Seat belts won’t give absolute protection in a crash either, but I still wear one. Please think about it and use sound logic.

I agree with 8:56. I have a neoprene sports mask that I fitted with an N99 active carbon liner. I wear food handling gloves in the grocery store and at gas stations. None of this stuff is needed by medical professionals at this time. I don't understand why anyone would object to me wearing these things in public, unless it's just to validate their own opinions.

I'm not approving any Chinese propaganda that is reported as fact. Tokyo Rose was not published as fact in American Newspapers. Holocaust denial isn't allowed in comments on this website. Chinese propaganda is no better than anything put out by Tass or Pravda and is treated as such. Don't bother arguing or whining as it won't do any good.

@KF, so basically if the comment isn't 100% kosher certified by rabbis then you don't believe it or approve it?

Now it all makes sense. It's like a Dan Brown novel. Atlantic goliath gouper

A sneeze is like a fart. If you can't squeeze it off and squelch it, you need to stay in your bedroom with the door closed. Forever.

Anonymous said...

@8:56. You clearly missed the point by not thinking and using no logic. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

@7:21
Very nice. So subtle only high IQs will get it.

What's with the Jewish references? Are there some neo-Nazis trying to somehow make COVID-19 into some sort of Jewish conspiracy? Shouldn't these people be lifting weights in prison or out peddling meth?

Anonymous said...

The death numbers are a scam - what was the real cause of death for these folks, and what were the contributing factors?

12:21 hasn't yet broken their NPC algorithms. I see their word association conditioning is still running.

12:21 the Italians admitted they couldnt cremate their dead fast enough with every modern crematorium in Italy. It's basically like WTC 7.

8:14, I suppose you missed the Facebook posting that demonstrated that homemade and cheap face masks don’t effectively keep droplets from a sneeze from spreading. If you think homemade masks are a serious preventative to keep infected persons who sneeze from infecting others, I don’t know what to tell, other than good luck. I’m not saying don’t wear a face mask, but I am telling you not to rely on it. Bottom line -homemade cloth face masks are not particularly effective. Wear if it makes you feel better, but act like you aren’t wearing one.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.

Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices.
