Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statement.
Rankin County Deputies quickly arrested a suspect in recent auto burglaries in the Live Oaks Subdivision. All of the vehicles burglarized were unlocked, guns and electronics were taken.
On Thursday morning the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office received a report of two auto burglaries in the Live Oaks Subdivision. Both vehicles had weapons and electronics stolen out of them.
A complainant came to the sheriff’s office today to report a weapon stolen out of his vehicle and supplied a serial number for the weapon. Investigator Christian Dedmon immediately ran the serial number on the weapon and found that Brandon Police Department had ran the same serial number this morning around 4:00 a.m. Investigator Dedmon contacted Brandon Police Department and learned that the they had arrested a suspect for DUI early this morning and he had the weapon in his possession at the time of his arrest. The suspect was identified as Kemarius L. ARMSTRONG.
I'm 19 and stupid. |
Investigators and deputies responded to the impound lot and confronted ARMSTRONG. ARMSTRONG admitted to the deputies that he had burglarized not two but three cars in the Live Oaks Subdivision around 3:00 a.m. Thursday morning. Armstrong confessed to deputies that the stolen weapons and property were located in an apartment he had been staying in. ARMSTRONG gave consent to search and deputies recovered four guns and a camera all of which came out of vehicles in the Live Oaks Subdivision.
ARMSTRONG was arrested and transported to the Rankin County Jail where he was charged with 3 counts of vehicle burglary. Armstrong will appear before Rankin County District Attorney Bubba Bramlett and Rankin County Court Judge Kent McDaniel for an Initial Appearance.

Not surprising to hear that Rankin Rednecks are still leaving guns in their (often unlocked) vehicles. I wish that their lack of responsibility would forfeit their right to get those guns back.
Our society has degraded simply because we have become a welfare socialist nation. When you have a part of society that thinks everyone owes them and what you have should be theirs, this is what creates the thought process for urbanites such as this one, and many white people also.
Leaving a firearm in an unlocked car should documented by police and be considered grounds for future NICS denials when attempting to purchase a firearm. ATF Form 4473 should include a question regarding negligence securing your firearms. This would assist the FFL on their determination of your fitness to receive the transfer.

Were you typing your remarks during church service?
Was the sermon so boring and about Christ and forgiving and loving and helpful to those in need that you simply had to post your comments about “whites” and “urbanites” (which is just your way of saying negro politely (what a panty waste....can’t even type the N word?)) having defective mentalities?
If you typed that hateful dribble during church....what the hell do you say after church???
ask the car rental people how many leave guns when cars are returned.
While the suspects mug shot is captioned "I'm 19 and stupid", maybe the names and pictures of the stupid people leaving their cars unlocked with items such as mentioned also needs to be published. Lock up your vehicle regardless. Night John Boy.
No blessing in his future in Rankin County.
Agree with the other posters. Anyone who leaves a gun in an unlocked car should have their guns taken away and never be allowed to own one again. Stupid people and gun don’t mix well.
The country is so much safer with all these responsible gun owners.
Fools leaving guns in unlocked cars should be prosecuted
He has lived in Live Oaks for years. His wanna-be rapper self stole from his own neighbors. I’ve been told that the HOA President said he was stealing bikes a few years back but his mom didn’t want to hear anything about it. He said she was mad they were trying to tell her about the theft.
Of course, mom has posted she did all she could do to raise him right. (Did you, though?) And, just like the Wakefield kid, the family is crying it’s his first mistake. This oblivious attitude is why these young people end up in situations with REAL consequences... they are never held accountable for poor choices.
To the unlocked-door blamers, it doesn’t matter if the doors were locked or not. It’s not an invitation for theft. It doesn’t give another single soul the right to take their belongings.
I’d love to know who bailed him out on the DUI charge.

When you say "panty waste", are you calling that person a weak and/or effeminate person? If so, then you should know that the term is 'pantywaist'.
Or are you accusing that person of wasting panties? If so, is the wasting of panties widespread in your world? Or are you wishing that person would give their church panties to you, instead of wasting them?
Interesting that many fault the crime victim for inadequately guarding her property. This piece of trash should have to work on a chain gang filling potholes for 20 years. Build more prisons to protect the law abiding from these thugs
I think 9:30 p.m. nailed it. I will add that he probably tested a bunch of car doors to find some that were unlocked. The next logical step in the downward criminal progression to break into cars and/or homes.
@9:52 AM - It's WAIST, not WASTE.
20-years filling pot holes works for me.
9:19, yes, that.... more ineffective gun laws which will prevent NOTHING
1) Blame goes to the perp. He did wrong and broke the law. He should be punished.
2) Like in many aspects of life, you may not be to blame for certain things, but you could have prevented them. What idiot leaves their car unlocked, particularly with guns and valuables in it?
Is blaming someone who left a gun in an unlocked car the same as victim blaming a rape victim for looking too attractive or wearing certain clothes? In both cases the perp wasn’t given permission to touch the owners property so no, it’s not that person’s fault some thug was walking around trespassing and jiggling door handles.
12:20, whether the rest of your comment has any value at all or not - do you just automatically that everyone goes to church during the same hour that you think appropriate? Obviously you think that the only time for "proper" church services is 11:00 - 12:00 AM.
Sorry, many folks go to church at 7:30, some at 9:00, others at 10:00. Some even on Saturday, but I realize that you probably don't think that those folks count, since that doesn't fit in your description of religion - certainly not Southern Baptist - which appears to be your measuring stick.
11:16 - Reading is fundamental. Clearly it states that there is a difference between being at fault vs being able to prevent. If you are so stupid as to leave your car unlocked, or even better, to leave valuables in there at all, locked or unlocked, you aren't helping to prevent something that you could prevent. You can stand on your now gun-less, electronics-less high horse and know that you did something stupid, given that people DO actually steal from unlocked cars.
If you want to, you can hit the gas as soon as every light turns green and eventually get t-boned and killed by someone who doesn't stop at a red light. Then you can expound to ole St. Peter how in the right and blameless you were...
Criticizing irresponsible gun owners is not BLAMING the victims. Regardless of fault, the gun owners' action (or rather, inaction) is simply making it WAY TOO EASY for guns to find their way to the streets and to the very criminals most gun owners were hoping to protect themselves from in the first place.
