JPD issued the following statement.
Jackson Police are investigating a fatal shooting that
occurred in the 800 block of Deer Park Street. It happened just before
2:00 am this morning.
Officers were called to the area for a shooting. When
they arrived, officers located a black female lying in the front yard of
a residence, suffering from a gunshot injury to the upper body. She
later died at the scene.
Officers soon learned that the victim was allegedly shot
at a nearby residence following a disturbance with a male. The male was
taken into custody and transported for questioning. His charges are
pending.
The identity of the deceased is not yet being released. It is believed that this incident is possibly domestic related.

....stemmed from an altercation.
There were also two other shootings in the big city this weekend that left the victims in critical condition. One has to wonder what the murder rate would be without advancements in E.R./1st responder services. By my count, there have been more than 80 other shooting victims this year alone, in addition to those killed. I would like to see a study done to see if the number of people shot this year exceeds the number of those shot in the late ‘90’s. In other words, did more people die from gunshot wounds 20 years ago. My uneducated guess is yes.
What did she do?
So I can assume JPD will release the suspect's name within 72 hours? Or will this compromise their investigation......?
No, every effort will be made to protect actual criminals.
11:38, I have never thought of that but I would have no doubt you are correct.
11:38 You should read Assassination Generation by Dave Grossman. It gives some statistics on gun violence and what the death rate would be today if medicine had not evolved like it has.
"Perception of crime"
7:42, I'm sure you will be happy to hear that JPD has named and charged the person responsible.
Anthony Washington, 53, was charged with murder and is being held without bond. Anything else you would like to complain about?
Right On! Let's concentrate on a study that would address the advancements in ER care and first responder training. To hell with worrying about the escalation in the number of 'shots fired' since that's only a symptom.
JJ, you are so fucking PC! I bet you are a closet Hillary voter (twice) and Obama voter (twice).
