The Superintendent Responds

Jackson Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Errick Greene said JPS is investigating the Forest Hill-Brookhaven halftime show.   WJTV reported:

Kingfish note: Here is a suggestion, Dr. Greene.  Get a couple of family members of police officers killed in the line of duty to speak to these kids.

5 to 1 odds he DOESN'T lose his job. Probably suspension (with pay) or to put it an other way additional paid vacation.

Kingfish said...

Dr. Greene was on the job less than a week. Why should he lose it?

Anonymous said...

I hate to admit this but he won't lose a job or any pay. This is obvious due to the JPS ongoing investigation... this place is a total sh!tshow... and I am fit to be tied that someone will get away with such stupidity. It's total bs...

Most likely 1:18 is referring to the Forest Hill band director. Just guessing.

That idiots comments say it perfectly. Don’t hold the kids responsible. Well my children know right from wrong as I did and if my teacher had told me to do something I didn’t feel was right I would of let my parents know. But this crap is all that they know. This is their life and upbringing

Greene seems more genuine that Mayor GumFlapper. Greene isn't measuring every word like GumFlapper does for maximum bullshit effect.

The video could have had incidental effect on this violence.

I was in high school once, too, just like these morons. I refused to do many things that the idiotic teachers suggested....far below the idiocy requirement level of pointing fake guns at fake cops in a city mourning the loss of two hero officers.

I think we can hold the students responsible as well.

What’s to investigate. It is what it is.

You all want to talk about how bad blacks are and the culture is so negative. The problem is you lump all black people together. You wonder why blacks are so angry, and belligerent towards LEOs, well when you encounter or see things like this going on everyday you will understand why. And before it even say it, this stuff goes on more than you think. the cops aren't called every time it happens but we are constantly confronted with these situations all the time. You all want to fire everybody involved and suspend the students and do away with the band for one incident that was insensitive and used bad judgement, so if that's the case by you're standards, this cop needs to be fired and the lady needs to be charged with stalking or something.

To Da Fat Man: When the African-American community starts policing its own against hate, and stop blaming others, that will be the day you have legitimacy with the rest of society, and get to sit at the grownups table.

I was just about lambast the Da Fat Man until I read 4:42’s post. Well said 4:42.

Da Fat Man is just repeating the usual Democrat / Liberal bullshit we here night and day on TV. They encourage violence, especially against cops, so that's what the kids are taught. The band director is on PAID administrative leave so he's not suffering one bit for the stunt he pulled. But what else should we expect from one of the worst school districts in the nation who has a budget bigger than any other district in the state of Mississippi. We pay people like Greene to sit there and tell us there is an investigation going on while the band continues to practice and perform in public. Just a crock of Sxxt.

@3:20

Exactly! We have pictures and we have video. What else is needed? How long can an investigation into this incident take? I will wager that the investigation will be ongoing so long that most will forget about it. NOT ME! I have LEO that are family and this type of crap devastates them. PUNKS!!!!!

The investigation should take no more than 48 hours. This incident no doubt was to show support with the Black Lives Matter, ANTIFA bunch. Probably expected support from black community in Brookhaven as there remain questions about who was shot when. The band director, dance director and principal all need to go. This would send clear message that Green is here to change the failed culture at JPS.

The immediate response from almost everyone was fire the band director, administration, superintendent, kick the kids out of band and competitions. Don't wait for an investigation, or an explanation. But, time and again when someone is black is shot by an officer it is don't rush to judgement, wait for the investigation, what did they do to bring it on themselves. The hypocrisy is thick. I agree that it doesn't look good, but give the district a chance to investigate. It happened Friday night. At least give them a week before you start jumping on everyone. On the one hand we have a Supreme Court Justice whose HS behavior is supposed to have no merit on his life now and we want to tar and feather HS kids who most likely did exactly what an authority figure told them to do. Have a little grace.

How quick many on here are to fault the kids for the action but none of you live or even can imagine what goes on in the lives of these inner-city kids. I guarantee 90% or more of these kids don’t watch the news and we’re not fully aware of the scope of the tragedy that took place in Brookhaven. Let’s get pitchforks and torches and include the hopeless kids in this debacle created by adults. The kids didn’t ask to be brought up or raised in Jackson let alone their deplorable environment. What we should b championing for is to save these kids and hopefully they make it out of their environment and grow to become positive productive citizens in society. It’s a vicious cycle that only breeds more ignorance. Your hate of Jackson and the innocent kids does nothing to help the progress of Mississippi. If we want Mississippi to move forward, how about we look for ideas to fix ignorance instead of constantly bashing it and making “ourselves” feel better about our “imaginary safety blanket”. These “thug kids ” in Jackson are not too far to be able to grow up and reach any of us in the tru county area. Maybe if we try to put out a fire instead of peeing on it and laughing, Mississippi wouldn’t be last in every positive statistic.

11:17 - It matters not whether any of these students has ever even laid eyes on a television set or had heard of the Brookhaven tragedy.

In your rush to paint them as innocent children just following a grownup's instructions, how do you explain the fact that they knew full well you get kicked out of school for even pretending to have a gun or making one out of paper or telling someone you have one in your locker, much less possessing a replica on school property or the property of another school?

Oh, but wait...since they were 'brought up in a deplorable environment', they can't be expected to understand rules and what might get you expelled from school.

Yes, the students involved had an obligation to tell a teacher, tell a principal or tell a parent. Even kids raised in a root cellar can rise to that level of expectation.

But somebody sure let them know it was okay to act out the execution of cops.

Wow! If you don't want to be assumed racist, some of you might, just might should keep your mouths shut!

You might remember that the problems of the black community might, just might be the legacy of hundreds of years if slavery that, among other things, created a matriarchal society and judged male value on fertility and strength only.

And, you might think how long it's taken poor whites in Appalachia to overcome years of poor education and poverty ( still haven't).

And, you might remember that not a ONE of you white folks would be happy to be born black even today for a reason!

The curse for both races is that you can fix stupid or mean.

@10:47

Classic...ALWAYS somebody else' fault.

Anonymous said...

3-4 of the comments above alone would be sufficient examples to teach a semester course on argumentative fallacies.

1047, your rewrite of history fails. It was not slavery that created a matriarchal society in the black community, it was the Great Society programs of LBJ. Subsidizing unwed mothers, and subsidizing single family households led to the need for fathers to move out so the 'family' could be eligible for the largess of the government. Since then, the number of programs that provided free cash has increased but this societal failure requirement has remained. But I understand that your defense of this idiotic action by school leaders and the participation by these teenage students wouldnt work under the truth rather than your myth.

Regardless, the band director and staff, and the principal have no business educating kids anywhere if this is what they deem appropriate. And the kids do share some of the fault - understanding that other kids reported this to their parent (s) - matriarchal or not, we dont know - and they chose not to participate in this political farce.

This comment section reads like a 4chan thread. Yikes. "that will be the day you have legitimacy with the rest of society, and get to sit at the grownups table." is interesting to me because PWT such as most of the readers of JJ love speaking about legitimacy from their Obama phone.

The band director has been fired and the band will not be permitted to perform for the rest of the school year. Is that enough punishment for y'all? Or maybe you think the school 'needs a mass shooting' as I read in a Twitter comment this morning? Or 'shut down the funding for that school'?

Talk about overkill. The skit was an interpretation of 'John Q', which carried the message of 'put down the guns'. I didn't get it (haven't seen the movie) but only thought the display was poorly timed and insensitive at worst. Instead, most of the public comments I've seen are howling for blood. Literally.

Some days, I'm ashamed to be white in Mississippi. If things aren't getting better for all citizens, can we really say 'things are better'?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
