Poll: You like Phil, Hood, & The Donald.

Want to be popular in Mississippi? Grow some hair.  A poll conducted by Chism Strategies and Millsaps College states that Governor Phil Bryant and Attorney General Jim Hood garnered the highest approval ratings out of all Mississippi politicians.  It also said Mississippians approved of a state lottery while a majority stood behind President Donald Trump.

Some key findings of the poll:

*Governor Phil Bryant has a 50% approval rating and 34% disapproval rating.  It was 54% a year ago.
*Leftenent Governor Tate Reeves is nearly even between likes and dislikes: 37% approve while 32% disapprove.  Interesting that the disapproval percentage is not higher after the frontage road coverage in the media.
*Leftenent Governor candidate Jay Hughes has a 26% approval rating but a disapproval rating of only 16%.  However, no poll numbers are published for Secretary of State Gibbit Hosemann.  Mr. Hosemann enjoyed the highest approval ratings of all statewide elected Republicans when the same poll was conducted a few months ago.
*President Donald Trump has an approval rating of 51% and only 34% in Mississippi.  Is the disapproval rating smaller than the proportion of black voters in Mississippi?
*43% think Mississippi is going in the right direction. However, the races apparently see things differently.  57% of white voters but only 24% of black voters think the state is going in the right direction.
*A majority of voters approved of a state lottery regardless of demographic.
*Infrastructure repair is the top priority at 27% while reducing the size of state government is the top priority for only 12% of the voters.
*Attorney Generalissimo Jim Hood is the most popular elected official in Mississippi. His approval rating is 52% while the disapproval share is 25%.
*The poll does not have any results for the Senate races.

Demographics
Black: 35%
White: 61%
Male: 45%
Female: 55%
Some college education or higher: 78%
Republican: 49%
Democrat: 36%
Independent: 16%

This is one Mississippian who sees Trump for what he is: a chronic liar and amoral womanizer who built his empire on fraud and criminality.

Poor Tate. Most folks just don’t like him. Can’t wait for the 2019 slugfest to get rolling. Can you imagine the commercials that will come out of Tate’s public/private drive debacle?

That's Missippi, but the rest of the country realizes that we need a change, Epsy can't win, but it looks like the Republicans are going to lose Tennessee, Arazonia and maybe even Texas. And Trump can forget the house and get ready for his tax returns to be released.

The Republicans better find someone else or they will lose the governorship.

I wonder if Tater is going to dissapper like Amy Tuck?

To the first 4:56, bless your heart, you have described every politician in D.C. Why have you singled out Trump? Self awareness, is one of the attributes of true intelligence. If this is true, there is a great dearth of intelligence among educated individuals. This logically would lead to the conclusion, that our education system is producing nothing more than trained mimics incapable of critical thought. That @4:56 is why you continue to post the ignorance that you do, for you aren't able to see the ass you make of yourself when you post such. Make America great again. Trump2020

4:56 and 6:12 understand that what really makes America great is fewer jobs, more people on EBT, lower economic growth, and a weaker standing on the world stage. Vote Democrat and bring back the great times!

Trump's comments tonight about Dr. Christine Blasey-Ford were vile - but even worse was the crowd of crackers and rednecks cheering him on. Hell will not burn hot enough.

OMG, those people sitting behind Trump looked like a bunch of country hicks. They were an embarrassment to Mississippi just like Trump is an embarrassment to the United States.

And when Trump and his followers yell "Make America Great Again", to what "again" are they referring? Are they talking about America with just the natives, i.e., Choctaws, Chickasaws, and Cherokees? Or are they talking about during slavery? Or are they talking about before blacks and women obtained civil rights? I just have no idea of what that phrase means.

Hood should make his people go to work. Marvin “Sonny” White gets a pay check and hasn’t shown up for work in years

Everyone is talking about the blue wave, what is going to be Trump's undoing is a Pink Wave. He actually hurt CHS and Blackburn last night.

Wow if you have to campaign in W.Va, Tennessee and Mississippi you must be in trouble. Has he given up on the house, I never see him campaigning for congressman.

He fit right in didn't he?

Snowflake socialists have been drawn to this thread like green flies to cow shit on the levee.

If the Republicans run Tate Reeves, get ready for a Democrat Governor. I don't see the fascination with this guy who has never worked an honest day in his life, he is "unlikeable" and about as fake as a three dollar bill. Don't worry, Jim Hood is a good man, but he will go high and right once he gets in office.

That poll says a lot more about this state than it does the candidates. Sad.

Brad Chism is a Democrat campaign operative. Of course his poll is going to say Jim Hood is more popular than Tate Reeves.

To understand why MS is last in most everything, just look at a video of the crowd at the Trump rally last night. Scary.

10;21 Trump's comments on Dr. Ford's testimony were absolutely true. The woman conveniently remembers nothing which would give the slightest chance to verify her story and no "witness" she mentions has the slightest notion of the event. Trump simply did what so many other people did at the pitiful sight of this blonde woman fighting back tears to tell her story. They called her credible. Actually the word is incredible. As usual Trump leaves his courtesy at the door when he goes to rally his base. He's a cad, but he told the truth this time.

Are you seriously arguing that because every politician is a liar and a womanizer that we should continue to vote for known liars and womanizers?

Are you seriously arguing that all lies are equally harmful in their consequences ?

A man whose wife can't share the marital bed so he has discreet sex one or more women is the same as one who frequents porn stars and Playboy bunnies with an available wife who just had his child?

You sho nuff didn't get past fruit to the apples and oranges if you ever took a course or read a book on logic.

Which foreign power will get credit for interfering in our election process, when the Republicans gain seats? I'm sure, some liberal hack will come steaming in to inform me of all the negative polls from whatever race. According to these liberal hacks, I should believe wholly that these polls will be the outcome of the election. These same polls said there is noway Trump will ever be President. We see how right that was. There will be changes, but not the ones expected.

What exactly could a Democratic governor do in this state with a Republican majority in the legislature?

Well said, 7:19. The poll just proves what I already knew, that I am thankfully *NOT* a typical Mississippian despite being born and raised here.

Trump must want to blow this appointment, he just lost Flake and Collins probably.

By not surveying on Hoseman, Chism makes it look like Hood is the most liked. Doubtful if he had included Hoseman. Crazy poll, but Mississippi has always loved the men with full heads of hair and particularly those who can grow it long enough to have a pompadour. May elect Hood, but I doubt it.

@9:13, I'm not arguing anything, I'm pointing out hypocrisy. You seem to be the leader of the choir. The absolute ignorance of someone saying, my candidate may be a whore monger, but he isn't like your whore monger. Are you for real?

@10:05, be sure to keep an umbrella with you at all times. With the way your nose is in the air, a summer shower would drowned you. What a bigot.

I found Trump's speech so inspirational that just this morning I went to the VA to sneer at dying cancer patients, went to Goodwill to mimic the disabled, stopped at the shelter house to hurl insults at the homeless and still had time to stop by the school to shame kids with no lunch money. That spells MAGA here in Mississippi.

Sho Nuff, let me help you with the time line...

The Republicans attacked Clinton for womanizing and claimed the moral high ground, the Democrats defended him .
Then Republicans elected a guy that was womanizing as well.
Now the Dems are against womanizing and the GOP defending the womanizer.

Seems to non-partisans who watch in horror the behavior of both parties that end result is a green light has been given to adultery, lying, abuse of women, profiteering by elected officials , and tax evasion...the last three are criminal activities.

Non-partisans would like it if both parties would find better candidates.

Those of us who vote on the basis of competency and some semblance of honorable conduct are the only ones who aren't hypocritical.

Both parties are great at boasting and fighting and being closed minded but not so good at governing.

Let's see if I've got this right...

A man who at age 2 was earning $250000 a year at his first job with his Daddy's company . He grew up in luxury and is educated at elite private schools and attends ( gasp) an Ivy League School). While doing this, his " allowance" from Dad is more than you can dream of ever earning. He then spends his career building apartments and hotels and golfing enclaves for the wealthy so they can escape from their " inferiors". He puts his name on things you might can afford so you'll feel richer just by looking at his name.

But, you think he understands and cares about the " inferiors" and is not a snob.

He inherited $400 million in todays dollars and yet you think he's a self made billionaire 30 years later. Do the interest math if you just parked that amount for 30 years.

He appoints the wealthy supporters and Ivy League judges who also never had to worry about balancing a budget because they have accountants for that.

But, he understands the " little guy" and has your interests at heart.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
