U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves finally appointed a receiver to handle the Lamar Adams assets in S.E.C. v. Lamar Adams et al. The winner is.....
New Orleans attorney Alysson Mills.
The daughter of U.S. Northern Division of the Mississippi District Judge Mike Mills. She has been barred since 2008 in Mississippi and 2010 in Louisiana.
Kingfish note: To the out-of-state victims, hot damn, welcome to Mississippi. For a Judge soooooo focused on "diversity", the choice is rather odd. Ms. Mills is a white female in a law firm packed with one black female and thirty-five honkeys. Diversity indeed.
A search of bankruptcy cases in PACER shows that Ms. Mills is listed as an attorney on exactly two bankruptcy cases although her law firm does have extensive experience in this area.

She’s pretty. Does that still count?
Blood is thicker than water. That's on old Southern proverb.
Plenty of Mississippi attorneys/firms that could handle this. Good lawyers not tainted by Lamar Adams and the rest of the clowns.
So can she really be trusted to guard and protect Mike Billings' black Louis Vuitton slippers?
According to her firm's website, she was a summa cum laude graduate of Ole Miss Law School and was voted the top young lawyer in the State of Lousiana. I seriously doubt anyone who will participate in this thread can match those credentials. But by all means let the negativity and carping continue.
"35 honkies"
LMAO !!!!!!!!!
"You sounded much taller on radio"
Last Anonymous: Ms. Mills obviously has skills and abilities, but to suggest that many of the other applicants weren't as or more qualified is silliness. There were any number of people qualified to handle this. I'm not sure how Ms. Mills' proposal meets the qualifications the judge set forth in his previous order, but she has been appointed. Just don't kid anybody that her application stood head and shoulders above the rest.
Unknown: I don't know who the other applicants were, but Judge Reeves' order said many of them conflicted out because they had too many connections with the rich and powerful involved in this case. If you have any information to the contrary, then you can provide it, but that certainly seems plausible to me with what we know about the involvement of big Jackson law firms in this scheme. So it wasn't that the applicants (and I expect only so many applied) were unqualified, but that they conflicted out.
My decision to do my own checking of her firm's bio was also motivated by my awareness of this board's nature, which is to constantly look for the controversial and corrupt angle to any story, and to overlook facts which run afoul of that narrative.
I think a balanced report of Ms. Mills would have included her being at the top of her law school class and being voted the top lawyer in her state. I could have also mentioned the fact that she was a Fifth Circuit law clerk and teaches at Tulane Law School and at the Ole Miss Barksdale honors college.
But that doesn't fit the theme of this board, so of course it wasn't mentioned. I just figured I would complete the report, and I do appreciate Kingfish allowing it to be posted.
Following the blood trail of a high school educated scam artist that duped a lot of supposedly smart people should be a piece of cake for a paralegal, much less this lady.
Who cares? After all litigation, hourly billings, expenses for motel bookings for someone from Louisiana, food expenses (unless the Country Club of Jackson (CCJ) comps these) and expenses for "relaxing after hard days at work in the Onyx Room at the CCJ", how much will be recoverable? My prediction is this litigation will continue until all "recoverable moneys" are depleted. If I had been duped in this scam, my main worry would not be the principal I lost, but the "Claw Back" I will be ordered to repay. BTW, How many people have you known who shared virtually every night promoting this scam in the fore mentioned "ONYX ROOM"
"honkie" sounds a bit racist to me. It seems that displeasure with a decision can be appropriately expressed without relying on racist terms to describe caucasian attorneys.
to kingfish .... thank you for reviving the term honkie. it was very popular in the 70s.
I read her credentials. I am confident she can bluebook.
I cant remember which term Im supposed to be offended by, “honkie” or “cracker”. Either way, it requires a non white person to call me that in order for offense to be taken.
here’s why many Jackson Jambalaya commenters won’t like her:
1: she went to Ole Miss (part of “the plantation”)
2: she was in a sorority at Ole Miss (even a bigger part of “the plantation”)
3: she is under 40
4: her dad is a federal judge
5: she is a big ole liberal
6: she doesn’t add anything to the debate about how great the Northpointe pool was in the early 90s
If she is anything like her father, then her integrity is without question.
BTW her father was a member of the Legislature in the early 1990’s and this was in Jackson a lot then, so he might be able to add something to the Northpointe pool discussion....
6:56AM - If she didn't pee in the Northpointe pool she should be disqualified, unless of course she has bought fuel at a Costco gas station.
However, the real question should be ... is she certified?
She looks like Sela Ward. Not much diversity there.
Those perpetually disgruntled with JJ still read every day. Thanks for helping to pay the bills!
Katie Bryant Snell was too busy... I guess
Obviously well qualified, even if she doesn't meet KF's opinion of qualification. Sorry Fish, the Judge (surprisingly) made a good pick - independent of the various interests that are or may be involved in this case. The fact that she is not black is hardly a reason to bitch, but that seems to be one of your major reasons to question the Judge's choice. Yes, Reeves issued an unusual order stating that he was looking to make sure that the "usual lot" (i.e. those recommended by our wonderful Sec of State, the lawyers that he has raised lots of money from for his 2019 LG race) didn't limit the opportunities of others. So, after reviewing the resumes and submitted proposals, he picked a white person. Am, we are complaining?? Please KF, explain why we should be upset because he didn't practice the racism you were expecting.
As noted earlier, if she has only half the integrity or objectivity of her father, we should be applauding this selection. You can keep on looking for shadows behind the blades of grass, but I'm going to be thankful that Judge Reeves has chosen well.
She represented Starkville Pride in the lawsuit against the City for their gay parade. Apparently by "diversity," Reeves just meant sufficiently lib. This is shameful considering how many well-qualified attorneys are in Mississippi could have handled this work.
There is already a lack of work for all the attorneys in the state, and out-of-state firms try to muscle their way in to the best matters. Now we have a judge affirmatively hiring those out-of-state attorneys. The Mississippi Bar is doomed.
Plenty of work in MS for quality attorneys.
What is it about the conflicts of interests for the MS law firms who would have lawyers with these credentials that y'all don't understand?
There are plenty, plenty of MS law firms with the credentials that don't have conflicts.
Conflicts of interest = Red Herring
Reeves = Misdirection from outset
She must be married to someone in the "New Majority".
Her firm, which only has one minority lawyer out of 36 attorneys, is handling this. She is not the lead attorney on it either. So, Reeves picked a lily-white law firm that is not even from Mississippi to handle this. Unbelievable, considering what he previously wrote.
Think there are others, other than Adams, involved in this mess. Be interesting to see if these players are revealed?
Also wondering about the "other players". Any news on those recruiters that got $4 mil to bring investors to Adam's?
