There should be left no room for any doubt about it. The proper way to deal with this carpet-bagging broad is to marginalize her or otherwise ignore her. She folds.
She is a trainwreck shit show. It's 2016, let's step back in time. We probably need bathrooms & water fountains for colored people, too. This state sucks.
Reminds me of how The Patriot Act was first passed. Get a few anthrax letters out, intimidate the hell out of people, and get it done. Get out the story of raises in the MDE, intimidate the hell out of Dr. Wright, and get it done.
Coward.
I guess everyone has a Wright to change their mind. (LOL)
No doubt another unimaginative Sid Salter column is now in the offing.
She saw her budget evaporating before her very eyes. Did she forget she was in Mississippi? Guess she thought she was in ...Minnesota.
So, non-binding, meaningless, unenforceable, half-baked guidance with no authority issued from Washington is going to be ignored.
Leadership emerges. This deserves a raise.
Someone whispered in her ear, "hey Carey, Obama is gone in January 2017. You are on your own and I don't think you made any friends this week with the MS Repub Super Majority"
Funny funny stuff.
11:04 Phil Bryant appointed Wright, so your post makes very little sense.
Dr. Wright was wrong here, but has done a pretty good job overall. However, she has failed to grasp how to politic the Board of Education and the Capitol. She will be gone in a year because of that. MDE needs a reset. Hopefully, whomever they hire will be qualified, will crack the whip on their inefficiency, will innovate, and can work with the Governor and Legislature.
Whoa Nellie---
How can the legislature underfund MAEP every year, further cut educational budgets (to fund corporate welfare and tax cuts), and then tell the State education leader to ignore the federal government's guidance about Title Laws (and risk losing federal FUNDING)? Does anyone understand that every district in the state has schools that desperately need Title funding just to stay open, thanks mainly to state cuts and dwindling tax bases? Without the Title money, what are these schools and communities supposed to do about schooling for the children? Oh, I forgot, this is Mississippi, the poorest state in the Union with political leadership that hates poor people. SMH!!!
Wright is obviously out of touch with Mississippi political reality. She was thinking about the possibility of losing federal funds in the poorest educational system in the country and she blinked. Mississippi political leadership has never done that. In years past they would close the schools if they had to. They would not give in to federal intervention. The only children affected would be the poor and black who could not go to private schools. They don't count. So what the hell? Get rid of her.
11:24 - the Feel does not appoint her. She was hired/appointed by the MS Board of Education in 2013. Feel actually gets few appointments since agencies for education and mental health are run by boards. He does get to appoint some but not all board members. Their tenure overlaps previous appointees. He also cannot fire an agency head. Think Dan Jones. IHL refused to renew his contract, not the Feel. I suspect you are an out of state troll that knows little about our state government.
How can somebody be as farkin' uninformed as 11:24 while suggesting another post makes no sense.
I gotta pee and don't know what to do!
Better grow a pair and go pee or learn to hold it until a grown up can hold your hand and lead you in and out of the bathroom.
Why did Brice Wiggins and Barbara Blackmon not join their fellow senators in opposing dr wright
Because they were on the conference call with Bennie's office?
It's too late for her to walk in goose step. She's gone and now she leaves without her integrity.
The saddest thing is that not a one of you is concerned that one day, you may not think walking in goose step is the right and honorable thing to do and then it will be too late for you as well.
@ May 18, 2016 at 12:16 PM - You think there's no limit on the number of or the ridiculousness of strings the Feds can tie to the Title money? In your mind, we need the money so sure, we'll capitulate, even tho doing so goes against rational logic and many peoples' morality. Will it ever occur to those who think like you do that the Feds are in the wrong for threatening to withhold education funding, which would harm 100% of our students, with the sole intent being to punish our state's leadership for disagreeing with them on an issue regarding far less than 1% of our students?
10:52, another way to look at it would be, Why is our state leadership willing to harm 100% of our children just so they can pick and choose which children they really want to harm?
