Suava Blaire |
Suava Blaire has been identified in all three incidents and has been charged with Armed Carjacking, Armed Robbery of an Individual and Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer. He's been booked into the city jail awaiting an initial appearance.
The cases are still under investigation and more arrests and/or charges are still possible.

Three violent felonies....that's got to be worth at least $10-15K bond!
Back to the range for the officers.
This is the first I have heard or read about a recent car jacking and armed robbery in Belhaven, but really it is just more of the same. It's a miracle someone wasn't killed again like Mrs Temple.
I hope someone will follow this man's journey through the Hinds County Criminal Justice System to ensure he is not released to do more harm before trial.
I hope his footsie is ok.
Don't worry.
wonder if he gives up his pal?
@7:25: Should be DOA.
What a wasted opportunity that the officers didn't blow his little thug head off.
Why haven't we heard from the television media, print media or Jambalaya regarding these incidents (other than this arrest)?
How does this car manage to move around Jacktown for several weeks not being spotted, tag not being run?
Just reading yesterday about the new eateries in Belhaven. Go for it! These thugs know damned well that when white people go out to eat or attend plays or other functions in Belhaven and Fondren, that they have money, rings, other jewelry and car keys.
Now let's hear it from the "let's get along crowd" who lives in Jackson about how they're hated-on and mistreated and mischaracterized. Chorus in 3, 2, 1...
What do you expect out of these criminals? They have no fathers, no real men to guide them and women who claim their babies just rob houses. Have you noticed that black police on average don't use deadly force on their own race? Now that's something you need to sit back and think about. Just a shot in the foot. If he had been shooting at police from the surrounding areas, he would be dead.
We don't ever hear about the from the media. What a shame. It shows whose side they are on.
7:16 am You can't seem to get it through your thick skull that we know the risks and we don't care what you think.
We were nice enough to try to explain to you why we are willing to assume those risks.
We tried to explain that we are working to improve things and have made some progress .
We tried to explain why you are not only not helping but are hurting our efforts.
In exasperation, we tried to tell you that every time you post , you come across as a mean spirited, uninformed , poorly educated busybody who lives in a very small bubble and thinks everyone should do things their way.
But, the bottom line is you are a narrow minded. loud mouthed, troublemaking jerk. And, we'll continue to make sure everyone is clear about that.
For some strange reason, I already had a similar mental picture of this alleged perpetrator before seeing it on JJ.
You can't seem to get it through your thick skull that we know the risks and we don't care what you think.
But, but, but "we" don't give a damn ...
We tried to explain why you are not only not helping but are hurting our efforts.
"You" are anonymous and "we" are anonymous and almost everyone else here is anonymous so ...
And, we'll continue to make sure everyone is clear about that.
Well, there!
Maybe this piece of shit is the one found dead in the holding cell this morning.
Well said, 8:45, all the way through. Not to discourage you, but the 7:16s will keep vomiting no matter what. It's been awhile since Joe Louis was invoked: "If they don't know, you can't tell them."
I allowed 7:38 to show what a stupid comment looks like.
I love it when people who have never been in a firefight or shot a gun in self defense critique someone who has to use a gun in self defense. It is SOOOOOO easy. Point, shoot, BOOM, he be dead. Yeah, its that easy.
That is why every firearms instructor I know from Cliff Cargill to Brad Harbour to Captain Robert Mahaffey points out in great detail how shooting skills decline a great deal in actual combat or self defense as compared to going to the range. Something about how the parasympathetic nervous system responds to pressure. They will also point out how most rounds fired in a firefight do not hit the target. It is so easy, danger strikes, get into a supported firing position, aim at the target, and then shoot after a few seconds to prepare. What? You don't have a few seconds to prepare? Sucks to be you then.
But hey, they only miss because they are black. Hello kluckker? How does it feel to wear a white sheet? Tell us how it feels.
Hey, KF, now that Johnny DeWitt is retired, I bet you could get him to tell you about the time he had an officer "unload" his service revolver toward a vehicle being driven by a fleeing suspect that was being used as a weapon. 10 rounds from the Glock 40 caliber. Zero struck the car. From less than 30 feet.
If we can arm everyone, though, enough rounds will be flying around that one is bound to hit the bad guy.
Really Kingfish?
How many firefights have you been in?
You don't know that anonymous commenter's past. He may have been in more firefights than you would think.
You "allowed" the comment to display the commenter's ignorance? Just who's skirt are you blowing smoke up?
All you Dewitt lovers, I used to hire him as security in the early 90's, My opinion of him, and your's, are drastically different.
How many firefights have you been in 6:50 PM?
7:04
Take your mouth off of Kingfish's member for just a minute (I realize that will be hard for you).
KF called out 7:38 with absolutely no knowledge of his history.
You, on the other hand, jump in post haste to try and defend KF when he has not defended his own accusations/statements.
While I do respect the fact that KF will post comments like mine, that doesn't answer the question concerning his knowledge of the previous commenter's history.
The number of firefights I've experienced is none of your business.
Get up off your knees, for just a minute, and quit defending KF when he, clearly, doesn't need your defense.
Punk.
You also didn't refute a thing that I wrote or attempt to do so.
kingfish
You are exactly correct. I have no knowledge of your past, just as you have none of the poster's past. You are correct in saying that there is no one that knows exactly what they will, or will not, do in a circumstance like that. Whether I am well trained in empty hand combat, well, if the opponent is armed and smart enough to stay out of my range, all the training is useless. What happens is determine by the circumstances of the moment. If I happen to be trained in armed combat, if the opponent has the upper hand in that circumstance, that determines the outcome.
All I am saying is, each and every conflict is different. What you can, or will, do is determined by what is happening in the moment.
As far as your "defenders", which I really don't think you need, they can suck it.
Kingfish at 2:48; while I understand your need to occasionally pander to both the police and the black community, I think you just suggested that the police are not trained or mentally prepared to shoot people. Did you really mean to step in that shit hole?
If you were trying to describe the psychological complexities involved when an ordinary citizen finds himself confronted with a shooter, fine. But you were describing men and women who strap on a firearm every day of their lives and have been periodically trained to use them with deadly force.
And while you're rattling on about the parasympathetic nervous system (something you heard about at Primos one day at breakfast and something police training deals with) you lash out calling a poster a klukker for nailing the truth of Po Po hesitancy in Jacktown.
So he went to the hospital, was treated and then released? Is it standard procedure for hospitals to treat gunshot wounds without contacting law enforcement immediately? Either way, we fine folks paid for the services provided to young Suava, and will continue to for a very long time.
Trained ass. No amount of training can really prepare you for combat. Some people learn to do it very well. Others do it half-ass. Some just don't have it in them. But that doesn't make them any less of a man.
Action happens very fast. It is pure reaction. KF is absolutely right about the loss of fine motor skills.
Handguns are only slightly better than having your #$%^ in your hand. Outside of the confines of an elevator, pistols are a poor excuse for defense. But in all fairness, you can't carry an AR or shotgun in a holster.
I spent three years in the 82nd airborne; 17 years in the 7th SF Group. And yes, I have seen a bit of combat.Luckily, I never had to use a pistol.
Please don't call me Rambo. That is pure Hollywood bullshit.
Somebody wake 8:15 a.m. up and get him/her some coffee. It has already been well reported that the accused drove himself to River Oaks in Rankin County for treatment. The River Oaks medical staff contacted authorities in Rankin County. Rankin County law enforcement contacted JPD and JPD made the arrest. The medical care was not delivered while the jackass was custodial. While it may be true that "we fine folks paid for the services," it won't be as a result of custodial medical care. It will be because the piece of $h!+ has no coverage.
I don't give a rat's ass who served in the 82nd. If the police are not comfortable discharging a firearm, they need to transfer to desk duty or resign and deliver the Clarion Ledger. Are we really at the point of apologizing for the inability of the police to draw-down by blaming it on their psychological discomfort? Say it with me: HORSE SHIT!
8:53 Who pissed in your cheerio's this morning? The JPD statement said, "The suspect was able to elude the officers and later went to River Oaks Hospital for medical treatment for a gunshot wound he sustained to the foot. He was treated, released and later taken into custody." Either your info is coming from another source or you're making assumptions, neither of which makes me (8:15) asleep at the wheel. Thank you for further making my point about the perp's non-custodial care. We both assume an 18 year old, armed crook probably doesn't have private health insurance, or even govt subsidized insurance for that matter.
I was carjacked in Belhaven with my 6 year old and 4 year old twins. The thing that got me was the guy took my car with both passenger side doors open and the back of the SUV popped up. Took off down state street toward UMMC and not one person called the police. A young african american, in a mercedes, driving like a bat out of hell with both passenger side doors open and the back open…and not.one.person thought it peculiar enough to dial 911?
The kicker though-I called JPD once and had to call them again 15 minutes later before anyone showed up. This was on Arlington street 5 houses down from State. It still boggles my mind.
On another note, you can't ever say what you would do with a gun. If I would have had a gun it wouldn't have been any use to me unless it was on my person. The guy open the door behind me, got in the seat behind me and I never knew it. He put the gun over the console and it was then that I saw it out of my peripheral vision. No use under the seat, no use int the console, no use in the glove compartment. It would have only been of use if it was strapped around me.
It's funny to see this bickoring between all of you about guns. You will never know what you would do until you are faced with the ultimate decision. It's not just pull, aim, fire, you're dead.
It's heart wrenching, life changing and flash backs that seemingly will never go away. With children involved you have to put your fears and feeling aside so you can be their sounding board. Don't argue about this stuff….you just don't know until you are put in the situation.
