The City of Clinton issued the following press release:
The
city of Clinton has begun the restoration of Monroe Street in Olde
Towne Clinton to a brick street. Public Works crews have begun removing
over six inches of asphalt that covers the historic street. Prior to
construction of the Clinton Parkway, Monroe Street served as the primary
north/south corridor for Clinton traffic and was asphalted almost two
decades ago to provide a smooth roadway. With most north/south traffic
moved to the parkway, Clinton is now restoring the brick streets to
their original beauty.

Let the ridicule begin.
Only Jackson gets ridiculed. They've earned it.
Watch them finish it twice as fast and at half the cost as any City of Jackson project. Any wagers?
Here's a comment that is actually on topic: I think this is a good idea, and this project will make that area of Clinton more attractive. I know the earlier commenters are likely barely literate, but this article is on Clinton. I hate to ridicule them, but hey, they earned it.
I don't know 10:47 AM. At the rate that Mayor Phony Yarber has Jackustan Public Works slinging gravel (vs asphalt) those lead times may be coming down.
I'm sure any day now Mayor Phony will let us all know that he's using gravel because they plan to dig up the streets for pipe replacement sometime over the next 20-25 years and therefore fresh asphalt doesn't make sense.
Has Keisha Powell returned from her forced exile yet?
And we get ridiculed for brick bridges? What's up with that?
You are a shithead. Rednecks trash us all day every day, but when we zing them back, you cull the comment. Phuck you.

That ridicule is entirely the product of ONE bitter old alcoholic who hasn't been able to look down and see his own feet in thirty years.
Jackson has really nice brick in and around the bus/train terminal. Just like in Canton and Yazoo City. These are tourist attractions.
Them snooty Bible thumpers over at MC will be happy.
