The City of Jackson issued the following statement:
Department of Public Works Statement about Reports of Brown Water
Due
to unforeseen, external conditions impacting raw water intake at the
O.B. Curtis Water Treatment Plant, the water in the distribution system
has
a slightly brown appearance. The Department of Public Works’ lab
resources have reviewed the water quality and with further consultation
from the Mississippi Department of Health, the water from the plant has
been deemed safe for consumption.

Hasn't Greenville had brown water for some time now?
Seems like every hydrant in Fondren is open full bore dumping water it cost $$$ to treat right back into the Pearl. Yarber's incompetence parade marches on.
Greenville has had brown water since before my parents married and I'm 51.
Strongly suggest @7:09 that you get a colonoscopy. One would think, all things considered, that Phil Bryant would be promoting colonics as a growth industry in Greenville.
Pretty soon all us Jacsksonians can buy all the clear water we want for next to nothing at the new Costco just north of town.
The brown water in Greenville is due to naturally occurring tannins in the ecosystem. This new stuff in jackson is anyone's guess. They probably don't want us to know what happened.
It would be interesting if 2 water samples were sent off, by someone not affiliated with the state, to out of state labs for testing. It would be worth the expense. Heavy chlorination and other chemicals can cover up and dilute abnornalities.
