Where have we seen this guy before?

Flowood Poh-lice arrested one Eddie Devine for a carjacking at Dogwood yesterday. WLBT reported:

A teenager out on bond after a Jackson rape case is back behind bars. This time he was arrested by Flowood Police and charged with one count of carjacking.

Just after 6:00 Monday night, a woman leaving the Flowood Bed, Bath and Beyond was carjacked. Police say Devine had a knife with him, took the woman's keys and stole the car. It was located soon after at the nearby retirement community, The Blake. That was thanks to GPS on the woman's phone that was left in the car.

Fingerprints from car the matched Eddie Devine, Jr's.

In April, Jackson Police said 16-year-old Eddie Devine, Jr. and another teen carjacked a 29-year-old woman from the Hallmark Gardens Apartments. Devine was charged with kidnapping, carjacking, sexual battery and rape. He has since been granted bond.

Flowood Police Chief Johnny DeWitt admits the crime is unusual for the area.

"Officers were already all over the parking lot because of our beefed up patrol at this time of year and people everywhere at 6:05,” said Chief DeWitt.

Where have we seen this guy before?

Judge Hardwick did her job: no bond for this scumbag. Time to pull the file and see why he is back on the street so he could terrorize someone else.

Very interesting....yet again for Hinds County. Back on the streets to terrorize. When can we get some accountability in Jackson with setting bonds for these violent criminals? Those individuals obviously pose a threat to society and should have had a very high bond or better yet no bond.

Note to this kid: Crossing the river and committing a crime in Rankin County was not a good idea.

There will be no Get Out Of Jail Free card, you will not pass GO, and you will not collect $200.

It's been said on here that crime does not spread from Jackson to the burbs--With all the Jacktown thugs carjacking and shooting it up in Madison and Flowood--it's happening. People always say criminals are afraid to commit crimes in Rankin and Madison counties. Reality check- many thugs don't think about that. They just go where there's shopping and nice cars- and that's not jackson anymore

Who was the Hinds County Judge that turned him loose?

Love the video.
"You may not be able to be an attorney."

What about the victim here? Another bleeding-heart judge who allowed this POS to get out and DO IT AGAIN!

Can we hold this idiot on the bench at least partially accountable?

Yep. Its been said 1,000 times on here that a healthy Jackson means vibrant suburbs and visa versa. The haters disagree vehemently and get proven wrong time and time again. The crap will spread north south east and west unless something happens to stop it. These thugs have no boundaries and there is no fence around Jackson keeping them inside. Seems like there has been more of this lately in the burbs too.

I will be interested to see the research on this. One judge denies him bond. And yet he was out on bond anyway?

In re: 8:33AM...

I do believe a majority of the folks on here are in agreement with the statement, "a healthy Jackson means vibrant suburbs and visa versa." While it includes the goobs in Fondren, the discussions primarily focus on the corruption and dysfunctional public systems that need to be looked at under a microscope.

Just want to make sure the state was focused in this vein and not equating to "haters"?

Could not agree more with 9:11. We must get a clear picture of where the system is breaking down. JPD arrests these offenders over and over. Is it City Court that lets them out on low bond? Is it County Court? Who is not prosecuting in a timely manner? Which judges allow delay after delay in hearing cases. This does not need to be done in narrative; it must be done in clear charts, with easy to compare columns.

Please Make Sense said...

I would consider agreeing with 9:11 but his post doesn't make any sense. Please tell me what this is supposed to mean: "Just want to make sure the state was focused in this vein and not equating to haters". It was even followed by a question mark. And what the hell has this got to do with Fondren?

This criminal will serve time for this crime. Who knows what would have happened to him in Hinds county. Now that he has committed a violent crime in Rankin county, he is headed to prison. There is a big difference in these two counties.

these are two serious crimes we know about, can we assume he committed many more? YES! Maybe Hinds cannot handle the load financially and politically of so much crime?

As a retired LEO that grew up in south Jackson back in the 70’s, I can assure you things have changed. JPD was once the elite LE agency in this area and being accepted as part of that organization was a privilege, not anymore.

I was victimized by a two Jackson teens two years ago. Having a gun stuck in your face while seated in a vehicle leaves you in a very vulnerable position, especially when the gun is cocked and the young man’s hand is shaking. Even though I had a fully loaded Glock 9mm under my right thigh, the situation called for compliance, not confrontation. The first opportunity for self-defense came when they stepped back to run. Unfortunately, the first and only sight picture I had was of their backs and so, no shots were fired. Imagine the headlines…..

I contacted JPD and officers were on scene within five or so minutes. I knew immediately they had no idea what they were doing. I directed them to an area on my car door where one of the offenders had placed his hand. Fingerprint comparisons, what a novel police investigative tool. Well, not so much in Jackson anymore but it solved the Flowood case, did it not?

Later that same day, American Express called and gave me the location of a gas station where someone attempted to use my credit card, within minutes of the robbery. I called the storeowner myself to verify he had the car and people involved on videotape, he did. Now, not wanting to taint the prosecution, I contacted JPD and was able to determine that Detective Wells had been assigned my case. I spoke with and gave him all the information regarding the store and video that was being preserved for him.

Well, that was two years ago, December 20, 2012 and to this day, no follow up by Detective Wells, not even a phone call. No fingerprinting, no photos to review, no video to view and obviously, no arrests! It’s what we in the business call, a suspended case. Take my advise, if you find yourself in Jackson, be very careful, know your surroundings and if you can, always back up to a building so nobody can sneak up on you from your blind side. You will have to take care of yourself because JPD is not what it once was, before or after a crime is committed!

I think I figured out what happened but before I write the post I need one more document and one piece of information. Sit tight for a couple of days. Holidays closed everything down.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
