106 vote margin. 2,023 to 1,917. Here are the sheets:
Robocalls went out around 1:00 PM today. The robocalls said Jackson was a majority-black town, the city council was black, and JPD is black. If voters wanted anything, it needed to vote in someone who would go along with the rest of the city council on everything. Street Committee said they were run by Greg Brand.

Dorsey couldn't run as an Obama Democrat so he went for the mud and almost pulled it off. What a phony. Good riddance......
Congrats Ashby !
@8:01, you mean good riddance til next year when Carson runs for yet another political office.
The mudslinging by Carson at the end was an embarrassment to him & his campaign
Well at least you don't have to pretend you are covering the campaign any longer Kingfish. Because you didn't.
I voted for Dorsey in primary. The mudslinging by Dorsey in the last week was so tasteless I just didn't go vote at all today. What in the world made him believe that was a good idea??
i was told today Brand was let off the leash.
LOL.
Good for him! He'll join Kenny Stokes as new members for 2015. Aaaaaand nothing will change.
I predict Kenneth Strokes will give Ashley a complete nervous breakdown by mid summer 2015. His head will explode wide open and tax bills will come spewing out...I can just see it now...
This clearly means Jackson will continue to miss all federal filing deadlines. Foote will fit in just fine.
I voted for Dorsey Carson today because I thought he was the best candidate for the job. Ashby Foote struck me as a decent person with a very limited skill set and a number of serious question marks associate with his candidacy.
As a taxpayer who plays by the rules, I was outraged by the fact that Mr. Foote is a tax deadbeat. His lack of candor regarding this important part of his resume was rather stunning. Why should I--as an honest taxpayer--elect someone with such a record to hold public office? Carson, on the other hand, was a straight shooter who wasn't afraid to let the voters know about his own agenda and the downsides associated with his opponent.
I am sorry to see that the wrong candidate won this election.
No one is more disappointed than Rudy Warnock. That includes Dorsey.
Lots of sour grapes!
@ 10:33 PM ANYTHING is better a obama lackey that can't even win a contest as a dog catcher. That loser carson dumped ton's of money ( probably not as much as he slobbered on obama) to win a job fixing water lines and filling pot holes. Straight shooter my foot. Carson reinvents himself every time some spot opens up, runs for it, dumps cash eveyhere and LOOSES. Hey dorsey! kennuf 'tokes may give you an opportunity to spend more cash. Maybe you can claim you are a black man born in white skin and fool the voters in ward two!!!

Ash won, making him the right person according to the people. I have known both. Ashby is stronger ethically. Dorsey is smart but too aggressive for his own good, sometimes past reason. Ashby's tax issue stems from the market crash in 2008-2009 when his management fees suddenly declined with the value of funds under management, but overhead continued, a situation he did not create but took time to adjust to. He will be make a very knowledgeable councilman.
Maybe with that steady paycheck Ashby can finally afford to pay his taxes.
Driving the length of Ridgewood Rd yestersay afternoon--at virtually every intersection there was a Carson sign being held by an African-American.
Was Carson the turkey riding around in the convertible Saturday with the fur coat and campaign sign? If so, glad he lost, on that fact alone.
Does anyone know the wording used in the robocall and/or who paid for it ?
In Northeast Jackson, that robocall was the perfect thing to push Ashby over the top. You think Carson ran it?
So let me get this right:
A guy runs on a platform of being a leader in fiscal responsibility, and when his opponent calls him out for actually being exactly the opposite, that's "slinging mud"?
Dorsey didn't hide behind the GOP and PACs with photoshopped, misleading fliers.
He called a spade a spade.
Republicans reverted to fear mongering once again.
Congrats on being consistent!
More discussion of Foote's tax liens in this thread than Kingfish allowed in the entire election. Course Fish is still butt hurt that his pally Amile couldn't con enough voters to put him into the runoff.

What a joke. Carson tried every way possible to hide the fact that he is a loyal Democrat, until he knew he needed more Demo's to vote. Then he pandered to every low info voter he could find. Even hauled out the negative adds at the end. But, of course, the real kiss of death for Caron was his endorsement by William Winter.
Gee,the Dems are struggling to criticize the choice of the voters here since they can't just yell "racism" as they usually do.
Both candidates had faults but over 50% of voters felt Foote's failings were less than his opponent. Dems can't get around that Foote's problems were with the IRS, the most hated government agency of all (just wait until the IRS starts confiscating tax refunds from those who didn't buy a policy under Obamacare in four months).
Amusingly predictable how Kingfish is suddenly interested in robocalls and race politics but was deathly quiet while the race baitin' vote buyin' drunk drivin' Pete Perry was pulling off the same.
I live in Ward 6, and Monday rec. 3 calls from Council-man Stamps...pushing democrat Carson, wish I could HAVE VOTED FOR Mr. Foote.
____
His presence there should be interesting !!!
Produce a recording of the robocall Kingfish.
10:45 - you continue with the same dribble with your obsession over Perry. Just like the rest of your ilk, you ignore the truth and facts. Show one - just one - case of Perry buying votes. Or Perry being involved in robocalls. Or Perry doing any 'racebaiting'.
Your boy McD lost - and thank the good Lord that he did. Either put up or shut up. And when you have to shut up, take your sorry behind and get back in the hole you lived in prior to this spring.
1:34 I agree with you. Pete manages to make the McD acolytes go crazy. Good for him. They deserve it.
8:42 - "photoshopped misleading fliers"? Really?
I saw a mail piece by the Hinds Republicans, but didn't see a flyer.
Yes - clearly photoshopped. Looked to me to be clear that it was a photoshop, not an actual picture.
Misleading? What? Truthful facts aren't misleading. True, Carson didn't want this story told in the conservative community in NE Jackson.
Now, he's complaining that 'national politics' was brought into a local race by the Republicans. Looks to me like his typical pot/kettle crap.
Carson brought the national politics into the campaign - told conservatives that he was a "Reagan conservative" while touting his Obama and liberal Democrat background to the Democrats in the ward.
He - as they say in the courtroom - opened the door to what he is now complaining about being 'national politics'. Nothing misleading about telling his background and thought process to "all" the voters in the Ward.
Pete Perry is as slimy as they come. It is no surprise he and his apologists hide here behind KF's skirt.
1:34 & 1:58
I'm sure you people are SOOO proud of Cochran (and Wicker) for voting FOR the CRomnibus bill. Yay! Full funding for all that our Democrat President wanted! Yay! Illegal aliens! Yay! Obamacare! Yay! Watch the Republicans bend over and take it from the Democrats! Cochran (and Wicker) may have won the battle, but, WE lost the war. Pat yourselves on the back, a-holes.
3:07 PM you forgot the additional pork Wicker wants to spend on the already mothballed NASA project in south Mississippi.
heck, I liked the three robocall's that I received from someone claiming to be William Winter pandering for dorsey votes sounding a lot like Col. Sanders on the plantation.
3:07 PM I guess you can't read. Here's the perfect example of the Tea Party, the guy who benefitted from it, is a union guy, and who rushed for more "GubMint" money to beat the other guys to it.
"Forshee is a tea party supporter, somebody who hates for government money to be misspent. And here, he sees, it was misspent on him. After his interview at Hooters, he called a reporter back to be sure he had it right.
“They’re just saying they spent $350 million for no reason?” he asked.
Yes, he was told.
“Well,” he said. “Nice.” (He took the job at the new test stand anyway, to be sure the work stayed with his union local: “If we don’t do this work, then they’re going to give it to Local 60 out of New Orleans.”)

Still laughing at the upset Tea Party ilk on Dec. 18th. Lord, I'd hate to be around you people. I cannot imagine how you make it through your daily lives. Begrudgingly, I'd imagine.
Regarding a Dorkey Carson robocall -who was the 'Conservative Republican, Charles __' that said the Carson photos with Obama were photoshopped? They certainly were not.
