Gateway Pundit gets some basic facts wrong in this post about the circuit clerks denying voter roll access to McDaniel supporters that made it to the Drudge Report.
Section 42 USC 1974. That is some serious stuff. Federal law. Yup. Federal law. Just one problem. Gateway said it was Mississippi Law. In other words Gateway is passing off federal law as Mississippi law and saying the circuit clerks are breaking the law. Not going to use the "I" word even though it is very tempting.

There are reports that Governor Phil Bryant wants to certify the election on MondayReally? The Governor can certify an election? For some strange reason, I thought that was the Secretary of State's job. Actually (Thanks to some readers for additional info), the Republican Party state executive committee certifies the results and then send them to the Secretary of State. Don't forget the Voter ID law that conservatives so favored extended the deadline.
Stay tuned. Its getting crazier.

Actually, it's the Republican State Executive Committee that will certify the election. The SOS just receives the certifications.
See the SOS election calendar:
July 1st: State Executive Committee must canvass the returns, declare the results , and announce the names
of those nominated in the second primary (MS Code Ann. § 23-15-597(1)).
July 7th
State Executive Committee must certify Primary Runoff Election results to MSOS (MS Code
Ann. § 23-15-599).
Somebody needs to write a book after November.
Jeez louise...
Actually, Kingfish, the Republican Party state executive committee certifies the primary.
Well, the SOS is telling people to call the Governor, Governor telling people to call SOS, SOS saying call AG, AG saying call SOS and so on. It is rather confusing.
KF, It is only newsworthy if Gateway Pundit actually gets the basic facts right.
As a general Rule, Jim Hoft (Gateway Pundit) likes to post before thinking. His hearts in the right place but is facts aren't always. If its on Gateway Pundit you have to double check before buying it.
Shaking head with eyes downcast
Can this get any worse?
Worse? I don't think McDaniel has even started. His poor law firm. Just wait till Monday. I can't wait to read the dribble the grand wizard will file with a court. Will his body guards protect him during the hearing? Does he have the balls to show his face at the Mayfield funeral? Join on next week. #keepmenearthecross
It seems to me that a lot of folks are jumping the gun on both sides of this. Folks on each side saying the other side is in the wrong or has done something wrong. My God people, have we no brains! To me it is so very clear - McDaniel has every right to check things out and no one should say a word about it. But I also believe that they should start checking in the areas where they might be able to gain the most ground. If they don't find significant evidence, they should concede and throw their support to Thad. If they find significant problems, they have every right to keep digging. What is really crazy to me is that either side should be claiming there were or were not significant problems before any evidence is gathered. Both sides should shut up until they have facts and supporters should follow suit. Now, was that hard?
I totally agree. He should have the right to check, since there has been suspicious behavior by Thad's campaign, obvious irregularities in Hinds county. It is unreasonable to expect him to accept what may be a fraudulent result. However, if there are not enough votes deemed invalid to change the result, he needs to move on. Both sides need to be more reasonable.
Jim Hoft, also known as The Internet's Dumbest Man,authored an inaccurate blog post? *e-trade baby voice* Whaa..?
Hey 10:11. You say that there were "obvious irregularities in Hinds County". Please document - but not with statements from the McDaniel Campaign or from the crazy woman from the MS Tea Party.
They have claimed irregularities, but the numbers that they have stated have no backup, and the facts have shown them to be nothing but absolutely crazy. Just because the idiots are claiming irregularities, you shouldn't fall in line, unless of course you are one of the crazies yourself!
So they have found 800 plus votes from Democrats, Is it not an assumption that they all voted for Thad? How are they going to prove it? It is my understanding that the Democrats preferred McDaniel to be the Republican in the up coming general election.
Update: The Madison County Journal. The Dark Lord of Hamil Hill treachery has marketh the US Senate campaign. Until the spell has lifted will there be peace in the Kingdom. Fear not good citizens for thy defender of truth, The Gay Prince, will smite the Dark Lord and his evil minions.
There were "17 Republican" voters at the Tougaloo precinct on June 24, but none on June 3rd. And when the long reports were printed at the end of the day, all 17 had voted for Cochran.
Which was all legal, but miraclous that Tougaloo has 17 Republicans.

Quit calling TP crazy. They have been right about Obama's scandals since before YOU paid any attention. I’ll give you an irregularity that you will, of course, blow off as trivial and reactionary being pro-Thad. My precinct location (Lutheran Church on Old Canton Road) had NO White Poll Workers. None, nada, zilch. Now, you will probably say that’s a racist observation, but as long as I’ve been voting at that location, it has ALWAYS had an equal number of Black/White precinct workers—and, usually, but not always, the White workers manned the Republican table and the Black workers manned the Democrat table. NOT THIS TIME. Also, when I walked into the church there was a “DEMOCRATIC PARTY RUN-OFF” sign on the front door. I was the only voter at the time and as I signed in, I asked the poll workers about it and commented that it was misleading to the public, who might conclude that there was no Republican run-off to vote for at that location. Almost immediately, one of the poll workers admitted she had put that sign on the front door, but she removed it while I was there and affixed it in front of the Democrat table in the same place as the “REPUBLICAN PARTY RUN-OFF” sign was affixed at the Republican table. (I can’t help but wonder if she put it back on the front door after I left.) Now, you all may think there is nothing irregular about those observations, but in light of the Democrats role in Cochran’s win, I think our Secretary of State was negligent in not making sure this run-off election was above reproach. Unfortunately, IMO Delbert’s position as Secretary of State has a direct conflict of interest with this GOP run-off since it is widely known of his pro-Thad, pro-Haley Barbour political aspirations. As far as I’m concerned, the primary and run-off elections have lowered the MS GOPe on a level playing field with the Democrats—you almost can’t tell them apart--and disenfranchised thousands of conservatives who will, in all likelihood, stay home in November or vote for the Democrat.
8:05 am I have friends at that precinct so I called three of them.
They didn't see what you say you saw.
Don't you have a cell phone? Why didn't you take a photo/video and/or use the church office phone to call a news station to DOCUMENT what you claim!
In my precinct, " irregularity" was impossible!
Did you not look at the book when you showed you're ID? Didn't you sign in and the numbers matched?
Didn't you have an electronic voting machine?
Proof of irregularities just isn't that hard to report or document any more.
Are you saying no McDaniel supporter has a cell phone that can photograph and video?
Further, that you say you are going to sit home and pout in Nov hardly makes you a credible witness!
Its obvious to me that the Tea Party is mad because blacks voted for Thad. They seem to want only a "pure white" vote for republicans. Lets say Mcdaniels gets his way and a new election is ordered. Every Democrat will turn out against him because atleat in this State they have the power. I for one hope he gets his way. I would love to see the results of the next runoff.
7:40 am Not so miraculous and legal if crossovers as you admit.
But I question your claim that they were all crossovers. I personally know 7 Republicans who live in that precinct.
You have forgotten that once upon a time, African Americans all were loyal to the " party of Mr. Lincoln". Apparently, you are unaware that some families remained loyal to the GOP.
Perhaps if you had been involved in GOP politics back when the GOP was all but non-existent in those days, you'd have met some of these folks!
But the really bad news is white Republicans who lean toward the national Tea Party just didn't like your guy. More than a few knew the lies he told about Thad's voting record and more than a few women were incensed about the break in. You'd be hard pressed to find a woman in MS that'd be happy about even being photographed without make up and hair done without her permission much less being videoed in her dying days.
You ran a bad, stupid campaign. That's why you lost. Get over it!
Is Democrat code for black? Because since we don't have party registration in this state, you don't know what a person's political leanings are unless that person discloses it. So is McDaniel and the Tea Party saying no black could support a Republican? And he wonders why blacks think he and the Tea Party are racist.
8:05am How scared were you when you walked in and saw no white people? I can't imagine what you went through. And the sign placement! On the door!!! You should personally request federal oversight in Madison County be reinstated. Where do you buy the koolaid. I'm running low.
@7:40 The Tougaloo Precinct had 31 votes for John McCain in 2008 and 18 votes for Mitt Romney in 2012. Check the facts before you make assumptions. Hardly "miraclous" that Thad got 17.
Before you get on your high horse about cross over votes, keep in mind that McDaniel himself voted in the Democratic primary in 2003.
" And when the long reports were printed at the end of the day, all 17 had voted for Cochran"
And your proof of this is, uh, what?
Don't they have secret ballots in TP land?
If they DID print out "long reports" that listed who each person actually voted for THAT would be an "irregularity" that warranted national news overage.
gimme a fucking break, Thad won cause he is seen by the black community as a patsy for BHO, and it was the black democrat crossover vote that pushed him to victory in places like Hinds county. To make primaries fair, one should have to register as a republican or democrat and only be allowed to vote in one's respective primary. I guess this is racist to all you Fondren St. James liberals. Pray on it assholes.
Despite my disagreement with the substance of your remarks, 12:32, the "pray on it assholes" is the best line I've read throughout this campaign.
This whole notion that people shouldn't be allowed to change their minds in order to reevaluate their final vote is ridiculous.
I'm white. I have democratic " leanings". I also have republican " leanings". I refer to myself as a republicrat.
At the end of the day, no matter what the party label, I vote for the person that is the most logical choice for me!
That my friends, Is called freedom of choice.
There is no need to legislate against freedom of choice in regards to politics.
You people rail on about the " free enterprise system"...
Please apply that notion to politics.
After this is over McDaniels and his Jihadist will form the Dixiepublician Party and you will have to take a test to prove you are truly "one of them". Question #1: Are you white? #2: Did Chris McDaniels say "fart" in his election night victory speech or wa that Haleys voiced dropped in to make Chris look bad. #3: Are you white?
The truth is the McDaniel camp ran a lousy campaign. Lousy. Only two things saved it. Chris McDaniel's energy. He worked his ass off, no two ways about it. The outside groups saved the day. If not for them, he is beaten by 15 points. THey poured in money, ran good ads, got online and advertised, they did their job and did it well.
