Not working.

Billy is a class act and I am proud to be his friend. If more people were this honorable, the "system" would be working as it was designed. Thanks, Billy, for setting a standard we haven't seen in years. Linda

The C-L article on this leaves the distinct impression Mr Redd (whom I don't know at all) is a profoundly decent guy and a class act. Looks like he got screwed by the MadCo BOS, as did the voters in District 2.

LeBeau0605 said...

I'm a voter in District 2, and one of those that was disenfranchised which Tim Johnson said only a few voters were put off by this. 5,000 voters switched unnecessarily from D2 to D3, and 5,000 voters switched unnecessarily from D3 to D2 - that's 10,000 voters, folks!

And the two supervisors candidates that are running in D2 now are going to be the type that go along to get along.....YUCK!

I do hear that there is an independent running. I gotta go found out more about him. Anyone know who is or more about him?

BTW, D.I. Smith has plenty of magnetic car placards...you should contact him, and most definitely if you want a yard sign.

This sucks, and it's because Tim Johnson is a RINO POS who should be horse-whipped on the Canton square. His last act in office was to hose Republicans and protect his two fellow Democrats, Karl and Paul.

Please take the time to check out Supervisor Smith's information at http://supervisor-d3.blogspot.com/.

I am quite upset about Billy Redd being drawn out of the district (District 2, which was also my district, now D.I. is my Supervisor, praise the lord!) as well as David Buchanan being drawn out of his district (District 4).

Please understand that this was no accident as Mr. Redd was drawn out by only one block and Mr Buchanan was drawn out by a block and half! What it boils down to it that Banks in District 4 and the putz's that Elvis put up to run in District 2 knew their asses were done if these two candidates were allowed to stay in and Gerald Steen (Elvis Clone that thinks, and I am quoting 'D.I. doesn't know how the game is played' OR 'I want to go along so we can all get along' . . . REALLY, Gerald!?!?) didn't have a prayer if he had to run under the old lines. While it will still be tough this gives him a better shot. But now, Mr. Redd has thrown a monkey wrench into Steen's plans and dropped out and thrown his full support, not to mention several thousand dollars, behind D.I. Smith!!! Give 'em HELL D.I.!!!!!!!

I hope these "jerks" are proud of this one more power grab! It will prove to cost them dearly - they had better enjoy it because it's all coming back to "bite them in the butt"! THEY ALL NEED TO GO!!!!

I also lived in District 2 and my candidate Billy Redd was eliminated because he was a serious threat to Karl Banks, Paul Griffin, Tim Johnson and *%$# for brains John Bell Crosby. I will donate money to DI Smith, knock on doors, make phone calls, what ever it takes to help him.

Micah Gober said...

I'm very upset with this supervisor's race. Billy Redd would have made a good supervisor. I already meet the other two and One of the guys has a questionable background. The other one is soo snoody someone need to take that stick out his rear. I may even write myself in as supervisor...atleast I can sleep with a clean conscious.

When ever you see Tim Johnson grinning at you think of him like a snake. A snake will grin at you before he bits. So the next time you see this snake be sure to chop off his head by voting for Dick Hall for Transportation Commissioner. That my Friends is the Bottom Line...

Some observations on the Madison Co BOS race in Madison County...
DI Smith and Andy Taggart conspired to get DI elected the day before the qualifying deadline back in 2008. That fails the smell test. DI never ran a campaign and has never expressed his views on how to bring the District and Madison County into the 21st Century. No vision.....just a lot of negative votes.
Additionally, the problem with the BOS is Tim Johnson. Get him out, and the problems with the County will improve. With Gerald Steen, you have someone who has been in an elected office for many years, he knows how the system works, and lets face it......can't be any worse than DI...who has done nothing and I mean nothing.. to move this District forward since he's been in office. I say let's give Gerald Steen an opportunity to represent our District...at least we know his track record and he has worked to be elected.....something that DI never did.

Anonymous said...

D.I. Smith keeps us up to date like no other elected official through multiple media sources. He responds to any query promptly. We are proud to support him in his re-election effortAs.

Anonymous said...

I've lived in Ridgeland for over 12 years...all the while Gerald Steen being my "Alderman at Large." I could not be less impressed with him. I will not vote for him for Supervisor, he's another Tim Johnson.

Anonymous said...

I don't understand why D.I. Smith even has an opponent. D.I. is the only supervisor who has consistently listened to the citizens of Madison county and has voted accordingly. NONE of the other supervisors have done that.

Anonymous said...

9:38, it seems the problem that some of you have with D. I. is the fact that he is "honest" and that he has the best interest of the voters in Madison county in mind when he votes on an issue. That appears to be something that is totally foreign to the other 4 members on the board. It will be very interesting to see the outcome of this election for the members of the board who believe they can do what they want, bulldoze their ideas over everyone and the voters "be damned"! Those positions do not belong to them - they belong to the voters of Madison County! They might want to brush up their resume's so they can find "real jobs" after this election!

Anonymous said...

@9:38, Gerald you are a DIPSHIT! We do NOT need to go along to get along, that is the F'ing problem with these other 4 ass hats at the MadCo BOS! Her is a guy who for 13 years as the Alderman at Large in Ridgeland voted to approved monies to be paid by the city to the company that he works for, this is ILLEGAL! Please for the love of all things holy, do not vote for this moron!

bill said...

9:38, you aren't telling the whole story. D.I. Smith has been on the losing end of virtually every split vote since he took office and has become the stated enemy of the majority of the board. How do you expect him to put any type of agenda forward with this kind of automatic opposition? Tim Johnson has wielded his power to keep things from happening in D.I.'s district with the intent of hurting his reelection chances. He did the same thing to Doug Jones in the last election, literally telling voters that he would allow the county to pave Tisdale Road if they elected John Bell Crosby. Give D.I. some help on the board and he'll get a lot of things done. Bill Billingsley

Anonymous said...

I am a Ridgeland voter and will vote for DI Smith. Gerald Steen is a mamby pamby jackwagon! GO DI! I refuse to sign my name in fear of retaliation by Steen. He votes against businesses that compete with his gas stations that he manages. Like the Burger King.
He voted against the tall building in Ridgeland and more.

Anonymous said...

Voters of Madison County-don't get mad about the Board of Supervisors cutting out your candidate-get even on August 2nd at the polls.

Anonymous said...

Hey folks who support DI......

I never said he was not honest..I just continue to believe he is totally "ineffective."

If it were not for Mayor Gene Magee and the Board, our City of Ridgeland.......well we just got thrown under the bus. Our districts'road, bridges, schools, have suffered under DI. Thank goodness we have a great Mayor and
Board of Alderman who protect the interest of our district....something that DI has failed to do. Can someone name one thing.......one..that DI has introduced, debated, and succeeded in passing for the benefit of Ridgeland and this district??

DI has been blessed with tremendous
resources.....his district provides over 50% of the funding of the county......but he has been absolutely ineffective in establishing any type of leverage.

Whereas the other supervisors have managed to whipsaw their leverage to their constituents advantage with considerably less...and don't blame Tim Johnson......he is just one person on the Board!!

Oh BTW>>>>>>>@12;24.....State Law requires all contracts to be awarded to the lowest bidder!!

Gerald Steen and the Mayor have been most instrumental in lifting our City of Ridgeland to envy of all municipalities in the State.

We need leadership and vision...we don't need negative votes....at every meeting.

We have had enough of that...meanwhile our streets, bond indebtedness, and taxes have gone up since he went into office.

bill said...

11:11, you're still not listening. Tim Johnson controls three votes on the board, so anything that Tim wants he gets, and anything that Tim wants stopped is stopped. If you follow the money you'll see what I mean. Our taxes go to the county. Taxpayer money goes to Rudy Warnock and Eric Hamer. Rudy and Eric make sizable contributions to certain board member campaigns despite the clear conflict of interest. It's the Corrupt Circle of Life in Madison County, and for you to suggest that D.I. could somehow break that alliance to get anything done in his district just shows that you don't know how these guys work. Send D.I. back with an honest board and you'll see the change you seek. BB

Anonymous said...

11:11....the past four years the City of Ridgeland has had THREE voices on the Board of Supervisors, not just D.I. Smith. Tim Johnson's district 2 was a huge chunk of Ridgeland, John Belle had Ridgeland residents in his district, and D.I. also has some Ridgeland residents.

If the City of Ridgeland alderman, mayor and mostly Gerald Steen are oh so concerned about having "leadership and vision" on the Board of Supes, then where the hell were they when the supes redistricted all of ridgeland into one district last week? Now the city of ridgeland is screwed because no matter who is elected in the district, there will only be one voice since the entire city falls under one supervisor. Gerald Steen was asked several times to comment on the re-districting, and he fell silent. he is a loser, not a leader...pathetic really.

Anonymous said...

12:02 you really, really re-inforced my argument.....the City of Ridgeland is the only entity really looking out for us.......

and Gerald is in that space.......DI isn't. You still didn't answer my questions from this morning ( really can't blame you)...can you tell us one thing that DI has done to protect, promote, debate, and approve, or improve anything for the District and the City of Ridgeland since he has been Supervisor...without the help of the City of Ridgeland Mayor and Board??

Anonymous said...

Ugh 2:51, fine. Here ya go, off the top of my head:

DI tried to move the meeting times to later in the day so more citizens (including those from Ridgeland) could attend. That motion was poo poo'ed by (drumroll).....Elvis & Co.

Insisted upon more accountability with county contractors (I'm looking at you, Warnock) and called for a full audit of contracts.

And if memory serves, tried to get the meetings streamed so citizens could view exactly what their supervisors were up to. Again, that was poo poo'd.

That's thinking about it for about 2.1 seconds. If you want more facts, I would check out his blog, FB page, twitter (if you know what that is), or website. Or you could catch up on your sleep and read some minutes from the meetings. Or, heaven forbid, ask the man yourself what has he done for you lately (other than be the only heartbeat on that board that actually gives a shit about how much the county spends on what, as well as to whom).

Final thought: He ain't in it to go along to get along. More importantly, he is not in it to enrich himself, family, friends, co-workers (hello, Gerald), church members, etc.

P.S. You were complaining about those roads being paved? Guess what, that new fancy Solid Waste dept that was supposed to save $1 mil/year had to take about $500k out of the repaving budget. Think about that the next time the ride gets a little too bumpy.

11:11, when the citizens went to the BOS mad as shit that they were increasing our taxes, who didn't show up? Wait, I will help you out, Gerald Steen and the Mayor as the other BoA for Ridgeland! When the people were again pissed about how our borrowed monies (borrowed, before D.I. took office) were spent, who once again didn't show to help, you guessed it, Gerald Steen and his Mayor and the rest of the BoA for Ridgeland! And then finally, when D.I. stood once again to try to stop the county of Madison from becoming the number dumping ground for the state who again didn't show up to help the people out, B-I-N-G-O (not to be misconstrued as the illegal crap that took place with BINGOGATE)! Gerald Steen and his Mayor and the BoA for the city of Ridgeland! 11:11 it is painfully obvious that you are in favor of even higher taxes, more tyranny, and an even more F'ed UP county government through NO fault of D.I.'s, go look at the votes, the records speak for themselves!

@ 5:25.....well I guess when you are the incumbent and you don't have anything...and I am still waiting for you to answer my question at 9:38 this morning....you attack everyone and everything...because the fact is DI
doesn't have anything and I mean nothing...to say....zilch on his record. Please provide to this board at least one positive thing he has done.....

If not for the leadership of the Ridgeland BofA...and our Mayor..my friend..our District would be in much, much worse condition because DI done absolutely nothing to enhance our community. Please tell us what he has done...in detail...

Please don't attack the messenger...just address the message. WE are all waiting for your response on this very important issue.

Hey 7:13, pretty sure your question was answered at 3:57.

What!!!! Your Bullshit answers?? Come on man......man up!! Tell us something DI has done?? Is that too much to ask from you?

Just because you are throwing a temper tantrum doesn't mean you get what you want.

Those are the words I tell my toddler on a daily basis, and it seems applicable here.

It's painfully obvious that you will not accept any answer as adequate and that you have an agenda here; therefore (just as I tell the aforementioned toddler), no one wants to hear your tantrum. Go to your room if you want to cry like that.

@8:22.........I went and read the minutes of the BOS and his FB blogs, and other BS. There is nothing and I mean nothing he has done to promote our District.

After reading the BOS minutes.....he has yet to introduce anything.....has failed to get a second over 90% of the time. Is that leadership??

Anonymous said...

... has failed to get a second over 90% of the time. Is that leadership??

It certainly is courage. More so than you've demonstrated.

Anonymous said...

Let me get this straight. You're arguing that because DI votes to stop the Kingpin and his cronies from raping the county blind at every opportunity, he's a "negative vote" that doesn't "promote our district"? Is that what you're saying? Just so we're clear.

Anonymous said...

Well we are adults here and I am really disappointed you have not, and will not man up, to all my questions about your candidate.

You.....have no courage to answer my questions!! May be someone else can man up.....go back to your kid..you seem to be much more comfortable communicating with babies instead of answering adult questions!!

May be someone else can speak for DI....you can't or will not..and that is not a good sign for him.

Anonymous said...

That is what he is saying. That in order to get some for the district DI should bend over and take it in the ass sometimes ... well all of the time.

Just when you think we're better off, despite our problems, than the total incompetence we're witnessing in Hinds County idiots like 8:42 give pause to reconsider.

Anonymous said...

9:20, I thought so.

In that vein, I would do well to remember what my momma said about arguing with an idiot.

Anonymous said...

You know............that is a great question. Have you asked DI that question?? Has DI asked Tim Johnson that question?? I am going to ask Tim and DI that same question. Has DI even had a conversation with Tim....or better yet....with any other BOS? Is the communication so bad.....we have a man......DI.......who is so trumped to have leadership qualities......will not even engage Tim or other BOS??

This makes no sense to me.

DI has to represent his District first and the County second. That is why he is elected to that position. No if ands or buts..he represents a certain constituency...the Third District.

Every time he votes negative on County issues........he is distancing himself from the very fundamental issues of his own district. He must distingish what is more important........the County.........or the people who he represents........the Third District. This is so plain and clear. Why he doesn't understand is so baffling because DI is a smart man.

He has failed miserably to represent our interests.

He has thrown our District under the bus. No doubt. He is paid to represent the 3rd District...not the entire county. All his negative votes have done nothing to help our district...only reinforce his lack of leadership.

Anonymous said...

Well.9:20... only a absolute moron and/or brain dead fool would bring up another county (Hinds) and try to bring it into a discussion about Madison County.

Just stick to the facts about the Third District.........and specifically about the City of Ridgeland.....not Hinds County.

Anonymous said...

Just stick to the facts about the Third District ...

Poor Napoleon. Start your own blog.

@9:40, since Gerald is your man, what has done? And please be specific!

Anonymous said...

@9:40...all he has done for the past 12 years is simply been a community leader, a champion for our school system, a successful
businessman and father, and above
all else, a consensus builder at all levels of government. His skills are what we need in order to re-build District 3 as the premier district in our County..our present supervisor has not initiated anything I am aware of to elevate District 3 due to the fact he never campaigned for the office... and we never had a chance to discover/compare results vs promises.

Our City of Ridgeland has the highest possible Bond rating, millions of dollars in the treasury, and is home to the most affluent and well-educated folks in Mississippi without question.

It is the envy of cities across the state and our city leaders are asked to present data on Ridgeland all over the country at seminars as to explain how they do it and do it so well.

Gerald is a successful business man...something that is woefully absent in our BOS. None of them have ran a business or signed a paycheck.....I'm much more comfortable with a business approach to running our county vs what has been attempted during the past 3 years.

Anonymous said...

11:01 You are killing me with all your ....... and it makes it obvious that you are ........ the same person posting all the time ........... which makes it obvious that you are either..... Gerald Steen himself or ........... a family member!
People that pay attention to politics at all know that Gerald Steen will continue this crooked BOS politics as we know it now, and that the Ridgeland Board of Aldermen are hoping he wins so they can be rid of him.

Anonymous said...

11:01 is once again profuse with the broad strokes but way, way short on specifics.

Anonymous said...

11:01, you forgot to add that Ridgeland is also known as Apartment City.

Anonymous said...

@11:14.......Please my friend... I can guarantee to you that am in no way, form, or fashion related to Gerald Steen..or any member of his family!! That is such a weak argument on your part..but not unexpected..you continue to shoot the messenger and avoid the message I am putting forth for the voters of this district. Why are you so resistant to address/answer this simple question I have asked for..DI is the incumbent and he has to run on his record!!

I am fully involved with politics and am active in many local, county and state campaigns...and in a few weeks on a national level for President.

What strikes me so candidly is that no one...and I mean no one from DI's campaign or this board has offered not one thing DI has done in his 3 years on the BOS!!

Ridgeland BofA passed a resolution to end apartment construction about 2 years ago , my friend. You can look it up in the minutes.

I am still waiting on confirmation of DI's plans to move District 3 forward. Would you please share them with us??

Anonymous said...

You are delusional dude if you believe you've provided any specifics re: Steen. You keep regurgitating the same shit over and over again.

Gerald Steen is not a "champion for our school system"...I specifically talked to him about the schools when our children got to the age to start kindergarten...what he told me actually made me want to move to Madison or go to private schools. D.I. Smith, on the other hand, encouraged me to go meet with the outstanding principal and staff at ASE and could not say enough positive about it, and we've been there now for several years... I agree with the poster who said the Ridgeland city government just wants to get rid of Gerald Steen and that is the only reason they are supporting his run for supervisor. I think the person who keeps posting here is the one who hopes to get GS's Alderman-at-Large position....

Anonymous said...

I will tell you what DI has done for Madison County. He stopped a 3 mil tax increase that Banks, Johnson, Griffin and John Bell Crosby tried to pass behind closed doors. If you live in Madison County you can thank DI for you taxes being cheaper. Ask Tim Johnson what he has done for Ridgeland and you will get your answer to your question. As board President Tim, who was supposed to represent District 2 focused on helping direct all the votes and millions of dollars to Canton. Look at the votes. Johnson, Banks and Griffin again and again. Ask John Bell Crosby what he did for the City of Madison? Nada, zip, zilch-that is what Madison got. Meanwhile Canton has new roads that no one drives on. Gluckstadt go the shaft and Tim, Rudy, Karl, Eric Hamer are making out like champs. Why didn't the City of Ridgeland get anything? Maybe you should look at Mayor McGee and Gerald Steen! Both are lilly livered, yellow bellied, scum sucking, bottom feeding politicians that need to go! They just tried to raise the taxes on the people in Ridgeland. Do we really need Gerald Steen be our STUPERVISOR and get in bed with these other loosers on the board and raise our taxes in the county too?

Anonymous said...

9:40 Steen is going to loose this race big time. I hear that business' all over town are making him take his crappy signs down. That is hilarious. He is anti business (HORNE CPA BUILDING), BURGER KING, voted on raising taxes this year and has voted so that you could not have pit bull dogs in the city. He has a checkered past too. You will be hearing more about that soon. Gerald knows what I am talking about too. You can run but you can't hide weisel.

You seriously called Steen a "Champion for Ridgeland Schools"???? Seriously? Our kids attend two of the four Ridgeland public schools...we have been in the district a VERY LONG TIME, and I have NEVER seen Steen at a school community event, EVER, NEVER! How is that being a Champion for our schools? What a joke. He didn't even attend the open house when ASE unveiled their 6 million dollar upgrades...or the ribbon cutting!

Benny053 said...

Didn't the judge come down with the basic opinion that, no one (mentioning Redd and Buchanan) has a constitutional right to run in any particular district. If that is true, then what's the point of having district lines? Seriously?

Tim Johnson doesn't represent D2, he represent D4 and D5. He is a three person voting block, and the people of his district have stood up time and time again, telling him not to vote a certain way....but he goes and does what he wants anyway.

As for an example of what D.I. has done for old District 3 - was to vote the way his constituents wanted him to on that 3rd landfill issue. They told him, in that neighborhood, that they DID NOT WANT another landfill added onto the Little Dixie. The other Supes voted 4-1 to throw them under the bus...but D.I. stood up for his people and he did right by them in that neighborhood!

In fact, he had them come to a townhall meeting that was set up to discuss that issue. He went door-to-door and personally asked them to attend, and 250 or so showed up and expressed their concern. Why? Because he cares about his constituents...I CAN NOT say the same thing about the other Supes.

And honestly, I feel so sorry for them, because they are in Karl Banks' District 4, now. He voted against them on this issue. They will now know what Kearney Park has been feeling all this years of neglect from Banks. They've just gone from a good Supe who hears their issues, to a bad Supe that doesn't give a rip.

Anonymous said...

3:02, was 7:18's comment specific enough for ya?

Anonymous said...

@8:26....those actions are commendable......because no one wants or needs another landfill in Madison Co...however still nothing concrete about DI accomplishments for Dist 3.

@6:27..you are totally misinformed as I suspected or just lying.

Gerald and his wife have been huge supporters of both Olde Towne and Ridgeland High School...his wife was on the PTA Board! Their kids have been cheerleaders, athletes, and are outstanding kids. Gerald's Company has donated thousands of dollars and other in-kind services to the schools over the past 10 years. Don't know where you got your info from.

1. Under your logic Phil Fisher is the worst supervisor in Hinds County as well. Care to refute that in applying your logic to Phil considering the way the BOS has treated Byram and Clinton?

2. You must think this is 1981 and that we are still operating under the beat system and never converted to the unit system.

Anonymous said...

@KF..
We can't and will not compare apples and oranges when it comes to different counties and the dynamics confronting each BOS...it's impossible. Hinds and Madison Counties are great examples of absolute negative correlations...one is doing great and one is doing horrible as evidenced by your lead story on the site..ie Jefferson County..and Hinds County..even though HC is not in default.. but might be insolvent without a tax increase.

If you think and believe that the beat system was changed in 1981...then well I have some beach front property in Arizona for sale.

@Micah Gober..We have already discussed this in earlier post.

The Ridgeland Board of Alderman is 100% behind Gerald Steen..the mayor especially...just go and look at his supporters at the most recent fundraiser. Gene was there. and most of the BOA. They want DI out!!

Anonymous said...

@2:31, Gene McGee, Gerald Steen and Tim Johnson are all in bed with Rudy Warnock and Eric Hamer. If Gerald gets in office, for the BOS, then YES, we will have unanimous votes on all types of F'ed up stuff and this county will see another record tax increase very soon, and the public will know nothing about it until we get the bill! Gene McGee has been promised, by the BOS, monies for Lake Harbor for years and they have yet to deliver on that promise. These dirt bags must have something on Gene, because he has done a 180 OR maybe he is truly one of them? Gene McGee used to preach about how he couldn't stand Tim, Rudy or Gerald and now he is throwing fund raisers with them! They must really have the goods on him because he is in deep with them and YES, he is working hard to get D.I. out, because that is what Tim and Rudy want so the can have Gerald come up to Canton and close out what sunlight that D.I. brings to the meetings and their antics! It is a true injustice what these dirt bags (Johnson, Banks, Griffin, Crosby, Warnock & Hamer) have done to rig this election, I can only hope and pray that the voters of this county are paying attention and will send a strong message on election day! As for the rest of the Ridgeland BofA, they would never dream of crossing Mayor McGee.

I do have a question for you, why are you so opposed to someone, D.I., taking a stand for they believe to be the right thing for their constituents and the people of Madison County? Why is that NOT representing his district? Each of them only have one vote, and when you are serving with four absolute idiots, two them also representing the City of Ridgeland and the people in their districts, yet still nothing has been done for Ridgeland. You seem to be so worried about the Supervisor representing their disctrict first, then please explain to my you are not also upset with Tim Johnson and John Bell Crosby for always voting to send monies to Districts 4 and 5? Isn't their first respinsibility (your words, not mine) to look out for their constituents? The minutes of the BOS for the past three years clearly show where SUPERVISOR D.I. SMITH stands on things and he is the only one who tries to keep the public informed and encourages them to be engaged in the happenings in the BOS! Gerald on the other hand wants to 'GO ALONG, TO GET ALONG' and believes that Supervisor Smith 'DOESN'T KNOW HOW THE GAME IS PLAYED'! Really, GERALD, is this what you have to offer the people, to drive the final nail into the taxpayers coffin?! Well guess what, I don't want someone to vote the way of the majority just because they are too chicken shit to take a difficult stand! WILL GERALD TAKE A STAND AGIANST THE CORRUPTION IN COUNTY GOVERNMENT?! WILL GERALD CALL FOR THE IMMEDIATE FIRING OF RUDY WARNOCK AND ERIC HAMER IF HE IS ELECTED?! ANSWER ME THAT MOTHER FUCKER!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Things that D.I. has done for the people of District 3;

1. Worked to stop a 6.33mil tax increase (this may not count since more people than just district 3 benefitted, sorry) and WAS successful with getting 3.0mil of it reduced,

2. Worked hard to stop Madison County, and more specifically the people of district 3, from getting a third landfill,

3. Voted against the creation of the garbage commission (which if NOT abolished, will lead to the financial ruin of Madison County),

4. Worked hard to have fair and balance lines drawn for redistricting (unlike the others to afraid to run in their own districts),

5. Has worked hard to get the BOS to live up to its' promises of funding Lake Harbor project in Ridgeland (http://onlinemadison.com/main.asp?Search=1&ArticleID=22155&SectionID=3&SubSectionID=3&S=1)!

Where exactly was Gerald, Mayor McGee on these issues, didn't see them out front leading the charge to stop the BS (not BOS) or prevent western Ridgeland property values from being screwed by yet another landfill?!

We will be waiting for your answers, and if this is actually Gerald, or a family member, please do not expect us to be holding our breath that you will actually take a stand and give a direct answer.

@4:18.. you are to be commended on laying the accomplishments that DI has done...it has only taken 4 days for someone to step up and address the issues.

To address #2,and 3 it was BOS issue. #1 was something that DI had one vote and he was voted down.

#5 is very interesting. That has been on the BOA Agenda for about 10 years. The City of Ridgeland spent millions of dollars on the project....even before anyone knew who DI was. However, Gerald has been involved in this project for over 10 years...and consistently voted to pressure...and sue...the DOT and the County if was not approved...finally...it was..and DI was not involved in any of the discussions...just read the minutes my friend!!

As far as property values..it is a market call....taxes have no bearing on this. As a matter of fact, Madison Co Real Estate values have been destroyed over the past 4 years..not because of DI or Gerald...because of incompetent bankers and mortage brokers who lent 150% of of property values on cow pasture land!!

Trying to put words in my mouth? I did not say the beat system was changed in 1981 just that you act like we are still under the beat system.

Second of all, DI votes the same way Phil Fisher does. by your logic, Phil is the worst supervisor in hinds county.

It is not apples and oranges. They are both supervisors who actively vote against out of control spending and schemes to enrich favored contractors and friends, something you have conveniently ignored. By your logic, Fisher has failed Clinton and Byram because he has not been able to get the BOS to do much for them.

The Ridgeland Board of Alderman is 100% behind Gerald Steen..the mayor especially...just go and look at his supporters at the most recent fundraiser. Gene was there. and most of the BOA.
-----------------------------------
That didn't answer my question. Just because a group of people have your support doesn't mean its the right support. It could be bad judgement. NOW WHO IS GOING TO ANSWER MY QUESTION WITH OUT BLOWING ME OFF WITH SOME NON ANSWER. WHAT HAS GERALD STEEN DONE FOR HIS CITY OF RIGDELAND.

That didn't answer my question.

Don't expect answers. The Steen cult only blows outwards.

Now ... about that big ass NASCAR track over by Crothers' place ... Its all about economic development. Neighborhoods take a back seat.

@4:56 - "To address #2,and 3 it was BOS issue. #1 was something that DI had one vote and he was voted down." Whay are votes that are made in an effort to protect your constituents not REAL work to help those in your district? Your answer was about what I expected anyway, you must have consulted with Gerald before answering that one.

"#5 is very interesting. That has been on the BOA Agenda for about 10 years. The City of Ridgeland spent millions of dollars on the project....even before anyone knew who DI was. However, Gerald has been involved in this project for over 10 years...and consistently voted to pressure...and sue...the DOT and the County if was not approved...finally...it was..and DI was not involved in any of the discussions...just read the minutes my friend!!" You bring up an interesting fact as well, why is then that with the fantastic leadership of Gerald it has taken 10 years to make any progress on this project? And no, it isn't a done deal until the money is in the bank, and at this point all the BOS has said is 'the check is in the mail', the same thing that they have promised on at least two other occassions!

I never said that the property values were related to the property taxes, what I said was; "Where exactly was Gerald, Mayor McGee on these issues, didn't see them out front leading the charge to stop the BS (not BOS) or prevent western Ridgeland property values from being screwed by yet another landfill?!" I have tried to answer your questions, now please give me the same courtesy by answering mine.

As for the taxes in Madison County going up, you can bank on it! Because of jacked up back room deals between Tim Johnson, Karl Banks & Paul Griffin on the previous BOS, the failed East Parkway WILL come back to bight the tax payers in the backside! It is exactly this type of activity that D.I. has been fighting and continues to fight! Gerald, on the other hand, wants to 'GO ALONG, TO GET ALONG' and to 'PLAY THE GAME' with these corrupt jerkoffs. So in supporting Gerald, you are saying that you want more corruption and not less?

Please feel free to correct me on these issues and convince us all why Gerald is the man for the job!

@7:02...if corruption is a problem on our BOS..them the State Auditor,
Stacy Pickering, could have indicted all of them after the bogus audit that DI started.

What's up with that fiasco?? If the current Board is corrupt then, why aren't they in jail?? or at least some kind of formal charges??

You are assuming a lot my friend...I learned a long time ago..do not assume anything without written proof.

Just because DI votes negative over 90% of the time..just read the minutes...that doesn't mean that taxes are going up. If you have evidence of corruption...please share it with us and the District Attorney and State Auditor.

Every month there is payroll blotter, accts payable blotter and minutes for every BOS meeting, It is published in the paper. Is there
something in those blotters that is illegal or corrupt??

Kingfish said...

Sure.

Lets talk about Eric Hamer billing the board for trips that were not authorized. Only his travel expenses and registration were authorized by the board, not his billable hours while there. In violation of Section 19-3-47 of the Mississippi Code. Has to be authorized before he does it and it wasn't. He owes the county some money or else the members that approved the claims docket do.

@ June 10, 6:27...as a parent who has had 4 kids in both the private and public schoools for the past 13 years in Madison County.....MRA..St. Andrews, Madison Central, Ole Towne, and Ridgeland High School........we have never seen DI at any ballgame, banquet, fundraiser, drawdown, golf tournament, debate, teacher appreciation, scholarship day, class day, or anything of the sort to support our schools...faculty,staff or students..just ask Lee Boozer.

However Gerald has been been a faithful supporter of all the schools in the county..both public and private for over 13 years...

KF..then why didn't the State Auditor demand repayment??

Kingfish said...

Good question and don't blame me because he has no balls to prosecute that one.

And lets get one thing straight about "how come the DA doesn't prosecute" these guys. Guest has no balls to prosecute anyone. He is a grandstander. Period. Did he suspend Buckley when the Bar did? Did he prosecute Susan Ridgeway who ADMITTED to blowing Troy Jones while driving down 463? Did he prosecute Claiborne Frazier? Charles Evans? Austin Frazier? I suppose you are going to tell me those guys didn't do anything either. Steadivest took place in Madison County. Did he prosecute any of those guys? Nope. Oh, then he plea-bargained a drunk driver who killed someone so he could get out after six years while bragging about putting another drunk driver whose victim lived in jail for fifty years. Did I mention Morrow? the child molestor who is at home while Guest brags on his website he is "captured"?

So you tell me.

KF all those comments relate to criminal, civil, or jury judgements. Not relevent here.

If Eric Hamer owes Madison Co money..then Stacy Pickering needs to get phone call again is all I'm saying.

Why does Gerald Steen have to recuse himself from votes in Ridgeland? Does he have a conflict of interest?

Anonymous said...

10:32, when those votes involve the company that pays him, then, yep, there's a conflict of interest.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
