Hmmm.....lets take a whack at the congressional races first. I think Taylor wins by 3. I know its starting to trend Palazzo's way but I think some of it is noise I hear from conservative websites. The polls are showing a shift but it still comes down to GOTV effort. North Mississippi? Nunalee by 5. Childers is no wild-eyed liberal but he's in a somewhat red district in a red year. Nunalee is not the best candidate but he's been running hard for a long time and its paying off. District 2? Bennie by 10. I know what that poll circulating around the web shows but I'm skeptical of it. Bennie's running hard and given the demographics of the district, I don't see Bennie losing this one. JFP had a story tonight questioning the poll and truth be told, I'd had similar thoughts myself. Harper gets 60%.
Judicial races? Weill wins by 15. Farmer and Priester make the runoff. Gowan wins his race (don't know enough about that one to predict the margin). Houston Patton's race? Who knows. He should be in jail but true to form in Mississippi, he probably returns to office by a comfortable margin. I predict Emfinger wins his race for circuit judge. Madison County Court? Longwitz 48% Bluntson 23% (I think Bennie turnout helps up in the northern precincts) Ratcliffe 25% Whatshisname 4%.
Interesting Congressional races nationally? Buck by 4 in Colorado. Rubio wins 52% of the vote in Florida. Fiorna by 1 in California. O'Donnell loses by 6 in Delaware. Dems screwed up with that Gawker crap as I warned and is now creating a backlash. Toomey by 3 over Sleastack. Feingold goes down. WV Governor pulls it out. Reid loses to Angle. Miller beats back Murkoswki. Paul-are you kidding? He kicks Conway's ass as the polls currently show. Scott wins governorship of Florida and Patrick goes down in Massachussetts. And yes, I think Barney Frank will win. Should be fun Tuesday night.
Weill, Marcy, and Longwitz all purchased advertising on this site, something all candidates are welcome to do, regardless of party, even "The License Plates Are Too Damn High Party".

Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Trollfest '07
Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.

Craig Brasfield and John Emfinger split Rankin County 50-50; and Madison County edge gives Brasfield the Rankin-Madison Circuit Court Judge seat in nail bitter! Book it!
I'll be thankful when the posers get on with it.
Bennie by 10? Terrible but believable. Marcy is just not a formidable enough opponent to Bennie.
I so want Gene Taylor to lose I dream about it at night. He just can't win this year!!!
I'll vote against Bennie again, and as usual it won't do any good. Bennie couldn't find my town with GPS and a driver. I know I'm stuck voting for someone who doesn't even live in the district, which is sad.
Ironghost, please. Bill Marcy lives in Vicksburg. He hasn't lived there long, but he's there and committed to the people of the district. Bill is a good man and a good candidate, and if he gets the right turnout he can win. The anti-Thompson crowd hasn't had anyone to vote for lately, and is accustomed to staying home on Election Day. Tuesday they're coming out...BB
Bennie has been pretty effective igetting the message out that his opponent is a Yankee who lives outside the district, even though it's no longer true. Marcy waited too long to move in- district.
How come when the 155th went to Iraq, Steven Palazzo and Charles Barbour got to stay behind at Camp Shelby? They took the money every month and used the National Guard on their political resumes, but are they chickenhawks?
Emfinger wins withlout runoff
A comment about chickenhawks by an anonymous poster is, er, basically chicken shit.
Emfinger has sent two emails to all RCSD (THAT again) employees on the district website. At the bottom there is the usual "paid for by the committee to elect...and approved by...". Does this mean RCSD has been paid to blast this to all employees? What is the protocol on this?
Just asking.
In the my 10:49 comment let me retract the "all" RCSD employees since I cannot verify that. It was sent to my school address and I don't know how the Emfinger committee would have obtained it since this address is only used for school district emails.
Still just asking.
Bill Marcy is the first opponent against Bennie Thompson that appears to have a fundamental grasp of the english language. Perhaps it is a sign...hmmm...
You've got MS4 backwards Palazzo by 4 or 5. People are fed up with Gene Taylor's whining that it's the insurance industry's fault that he had his house underinsured.
8:40 There's no doubt you are not a member of the Mississippi Army National Guard and never have been, or you would not be making such a STUPID POST about something you know absolutely nothing about. Both Steven Palazzo and Charles Barbour are highly respected soldiers, have always served their country honorably, and that's really all you should be concerned about.
I live in Gregg Harper's district and wonder why lawn signs for Marcy went up in Madison and Ridgeland today. I just dropped kids off for a Halloween party in Eastover and wondered why there was a Nunelee lawn sign in Eastover.
I'm not sayin', you know - I'm just sayin' ;-)
Part of Madison is in the second district. Highway 463 is the dividing line. Annandale is in the Third and Reunion in the Second.
Hm, I coulda sworn Marcy was from or living in Meridian. Ah well. Still, better than Bennie.
I have to ask 8:40, do you know what there MOS is? Not every MOS or AFSC is a deployable one. Although there is certainly a mission abroad, there is also a mission to support at home. If you want to leave a post, know what the hell your talking about! Your just some douchebag that has no understanding of the National Guard or Active Duty side of the house. Let's see, sometimes, deployments request only a certain number of personnel with specific ranks. Perhaps their rank was out of scope of what was requested. Who knows? You should kneel down and thank them. They held up their right hand and took an oath. I doubt very seriously that you have. Next time you see a soldier or an airman in uniform, you need to thank him or her. Of course, we also fight for people like you to leave assinine posts. Let's see, that would fall under Freedom of Speech. I don't guess you figured it out that it's because of Guardsman and Active duty military that you have that freedom. It doesn't matter if they are serving at home or abroad, THEY ARE SERVING THEIR COUNTRY!! USAF SFS Hoo-ah!
Ironghost, you're almost right. Bill was living in Meridian when he started the campaign, but moved to Vicksburg several months ago and plans to stay, win or lose. It's not a requirement to live in the district to run for Congress, but you're required to live in the district by the time you take the oath of office if you win. You could run for Congress in New York as long as you were willing to move there if you won.
Bennie's pushing hard on Bill's residency and background because he doesn't have anything else. Bill is the right candidate at the right time, and Bennie knows it and is running scared after ignoring Bill until now. Second District voters, Bennie is beatable. Get out the vote for Marcy on Tuesday! BB
Bennie's pushing hard on Bill's residency and background because he doesn't have anything else.
In many respects Gene Taylor, for all his shortcomings, has brought more bacon home to the state in the form of jobs than Thompson has brought to his district.
KF's predictions are all plausible, except that Miller in Alaska seems to be tanking.
