A federal judge moved to seize Nancy New's Sheffield Drive house. U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves issued the following order yesterday:

A federal grand jury indicted Nancy and Zach New on 17 counts of conspiracy, wire fraud, aggravated identity theft, and monetary transactions with proceeds of illegal activity. The indictment is posted below. These indictments are not a repetition of the DHS scandal but accuse the News of bilking the Mississippi Department of Education for MAEP funds for New Summit schools.
The indictment charges the News submitted phony claims to MDE for reimbursement of MAEP funds. The defendants allegedly filed claims for teachers who no longer worked at New Summit, employees who were not teachers, a person who was never a school employee, and students who longer attended or never attended the school. The indictment states the fraud occurred from 2017 to 2020 and involved $4.7 million.The indictment provides a list of the transactions (p.3).
The alleged fraud covered identity theft as well. The News allegedly used the names and Social Security numbers without permission to submit phony claims. A series of withdrawals occurred in the spring and summer of 2019. Ms. New used the cash to purchase a home on 1800 Sheffield Drive in Jackson in June 2019.
Hinds County property records state Ms. New still owns the home. The home is assessed at nearly $200,000 but it undoubtedly has a much higher market value. The indictment states the feds will seek the forfeiture of assets gained through the use of fraudulent means.
New pleaded guilty to wire fraud in 2022. New faces a maximum sentence of a $250,000 fine and/or a prison sentence of 10 years. She agreed to forfeit her home on Sheffield Drive as it was gained through fraud. New's sentencing was postponed until the conclusion of the Ted Dibiase, Jr. case.

Take a look at Zillow right now. You aren't ready for the culture to be buying up all those horrible 90s/2000s plastic siding houses with giant garages. Same story for all of Rankin County. Meanwhile in jackson new restaurants open and housing moved pretty quickly and schools and churches are expanding along with new housing in Fondren. Water is potable now.
Pearl street and surrounding area / trees had a makeover and the bottom of the bridge was painted.
It’s not perfect for sure but things are looking up.

Further proving that most of the people on this website have no idea what’s really going on in Jackson. The housing market in Jackson is booming. Our restaurants are amazing. I can’t think of one restaurant in the city of Madison that’s worth driving to for dinner. I took a ride through Madison the other day and the pitiful, boring houses they are throwing up in that town is so sad. No character.

But you failed to to mention Cap PD has got property and violent crime under control in their district, the Museum trail is about to expand all the way to Hal n Mal’s, UMMC is about to finish the nursing school and start on their Cancer Center, LeFleur’s Bluff and the Children’s Museum are about to expand, a new pedestrian bridge is going to cross over Lakeland, the Planetarium is about to reopen, a new Hampton is going in next to Pig N Pint, and 230 lofts are going to wrap around the back side of the garage! Take a ride around and peek into restaurants in Fondren at lunch if you can get around the traffic. Packed houses!
Yeah Jackson has a lot of problems, but somebody please find a major city that doesn’t!
