The ABC's made a little bit of progress in reducing the backlog at its warehouse last week.
The backlog dipped to 165,425 cases, the lowest it has been since February 8. It is a 27% reduction from the backlog of 220,027 cases reported on March 1.
Although there is improvement shown in the chart above, it should be noted the backlog has stayed relatively flat for the last four weeks.
The chart of the difference between cases shipped and cases ordered shows the problem.
Make no mistake, the Ruan workers at the warehouse are busting their balls shipping product. However, ABC has not been able to get a breather for the last month as the difference between cases ordered and cases shipped is relatively even since March 1.
What ABC needs is several weeks where shipments outpace orders by at least 10,000 cases. If that happens, one would expect to see a substantial reduction in the backlog.
The cycle time from order to shipped fell to 16.8 days, the lowest it has been since Valentine's Day but a far cry from the standard shipping time of 2-3 days.
