The trials of Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens, former Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba, and former Jackson Councilman Aaron Banks will be held in Jackson. WLBT reported:
Three men charged in connection with a scheme to bring a convention center hotel to downtown Jackson will be tried in the capital city.
That’s according to U.S. District Judge Daniel Jordan, who made the announcement at a Wednesday morning status conference.
“I am not moving this trial to Gulfport,” he said. “That is not, in my mind, an option.”
The status conference was held to get updates from the attorneys in the Jackson bribery case. Rest of article.
Justice Department prosecutors filed a motion to transfer the case from the Jackson Division to the Gulfport Division of the Southern District of Mississippi on March 3.

He's thinking about larger jury pool.
DoJ is probably worred all the Chokwe sack riders will vote to acquit him no matter how guilty he is.
Not surprising that WLBT can't use "capitol" properly.
Well they won't stand a chance here because a large % in the metro think they're guilty they had a better chance on the road they're screwed
They used "capital" for the city, which is correct. "Capitol" is the building, not the city.
The jury pool will be the entire Southern District. Not just Jackson
The jury pool needs to come from Gulfport then. Too many supporters for these crooks in hinds county. I don’t know what the judge is thinking. Maybe he is thinking of the fame and Notoriety that he will get from this case.
The fix is in.
Agree, this is the only way Lumumba walks. Judge is aware of this as well.
I'm hoping for a guilty verdict for all of them. I am afraid that won't happen if the jury comes from this area. I'm sorry the judge wont let the case go to another area.
Judge could be prejudiced against FBI sting operations. DOJ needs to get outta Jackson. Gulf Coast higher IQ jury pool who understand corruption as moral terpitude, whereas Jackson considers any financial success as "they gettin they hustle on" and legit, inside or outside government.
