It looks like Tammara Bowie’s turnout was literally only Fannin/Luckney Rd/Holly Bush Road as I predicted.
Glad Mumford won. We dodged a bullet with Johnson.
With that Rankin County District 2 race so close, does that trigger an automatic recount? If not, will there be a recount?
State senate seat #26 what’s the (D)ifference?
Bowie’s recent dui arrest wasn’t enough to persuade Rankin voters that she would be a good judge. KF keep us posted on her trial date. I do believe her MCSOL advocacy skills will be tested.
Congratulations to Adam Woods and Phil Schoggen. Both are well-qualified.
Derrel will do the right thing and eventually acknowledge that the voters (the 9% of qualified electors who bothered to go vote) have spoken.
Despite gains by the Legislative Black Caucus, at the end of the session, Mississippi still won’t have Medicaid expansion and our public dollars will be headed to private schools.
I heard that Johnson campaign funds came from highly suspect sources
What is your solution for kids trapped in failing school districts?
So almost 2X as many people showed up to vote for the Hinds County Coroner than voted in the highly advertised State Senate race? How is that even possible? Do more than 11,000 people even vote for coroner in a general election with lots of other things on the ballot?
A State Senate District is not as big as a county.
Kingfish, you are right about the population of a Senate District vs. Hinds County, but I think in this case there were also a lot of Hinds County voters that THOUGHT they were in that district because of all the hype, ads, etc., and then got to the polls and only had that on the ballot. It's hard to believe even 5000 would leave their house to vote for coroner.
Target population for State Senate districts during the last redistricting was ~56,950 residents. While Hinds County is shrinking rapidly and has never been smaller it remains nearly 4 times the size of Senate 26.
Lambright and OneVoice 0-2 last night for her endorsements.
Talk about gerrymandered...

Johnson was trounced in Madison County as Mumford pulled in 69+%. No doubt Johnson's carpet bombing mailers into Republican households touting the pipe dream second coming of Democrats in Mississippi was a tactical mistake.
