Thus said JXN Water Manager Ted Henifin as he blasted the city of Jackson's opposition to his proposed increase in water/sewer rates. Some choice quotes:
"This is rich and hard to stomach." "The City ran the system into the ground over decades" "(The city) opposed water-shutoffs from some of the worst offenders." "Now that the systems are being managed by a receiver" "City wants to have it both ways" "Misleading and wrong" "(The city) still does not get it"
Mr. Henifin made the remarks in a response submitted in federal court yesterday after the city of Jackson filed a statement of opposition to the rate increase Monday with U.S. District Judge Henry Wingate.

"(The city) still does not get it" They never did.
The city wants him to go against the bond covenant. Pay debt first and then
O&M next. Not how it works. Ted said
he would not do it. Good for him.
Henifin is worth every penny of that salary. He's explained, painfully slowly, why the city is retarded, but like Forrest Gump they still don't understand.
There is only one priority for the Jackson elected officials and that is staying in office and making all the money the position will allow. Same with Hinds County. They know the voters are
highly pissed off with the cost of living in this broken city so they will not make hard decisions which might cost them their jobs, even if the decisions are necessary. Someone else must make the decisions. Pitiful.
City wants all the power but none of the responsibility….
