Worried there might not be a Broadway season in Jackson this year? Never fear, JJ is here. Tickets are now on sale for Broadway in New Orleans. Check out the offerings.
There are shows at 2 on Saturday and 1 on Sunday if you don't want to do the overnight thing. Drive down, catch the show, grab an early dinner down the street at Palace Cafe or Middendorf's on the way back and you still get to sleep at a decent hour. Let's face it, Jackson is not getting Hamilton as it is too small a market for such blockbuster shows. Shows and tickets.
The Clarion-Ledger reported last week representatives of Broadway in Jackson visited Thalia Mara Hall last week:
Epstein and Kosin flew into Jackson from Chicago Tuesday to speak with city officials and determine whether the Broadway in Jackson series can proceed. Innovation Arts and Entertainment brings Broadway productions complete with actors and actresses from New York City to 16 cities including Jackson....
However, multiple undisclosed sources working with the city assured Epstein and Kosin that Thalia Mara would be up and running in time for the first Broadway in Jackson show — The Tina Turner Musical playing Nov. 19....
Thalia Mara is the only auditorium in Mississippi capable of hosting professional Broadway shows. It is the only stage that can handle the weight and scope of productions. No Thalia Mara, no Broadway in Mississippi. Epstein had a few things to say about the state of affairs at Thalia Mara:
Thalia Mara marks the first time Epstein has seen a theater close due to mold.
"I think these are preventable problems," Epstein said. "There's no excuse for having this problem and these are simple maintenance issues that need to be attended to on a regular basis by the proper skilled staff." Rest of article.
The city engaged a 5-point plan to solve the mold problem that seems pretty promising. Earlier post.

Will the mayor or "his people" be involved? If the answer is yes, expect lots of talk and no action. If private entities take responsibility for fixing the problem, expect some sort of "If it's done for us, then we must be involved." protest and a move to steal funds if they are allowed to be involved. By the way, there is no wan on earth that the problem is not mold. Saying it is bacterial is a lie.
I'm tellin' ya, this is what they need to use... arcusmanufacturing.com
too far to drive to regularly
I know but good for once or twice a year. Who goes to them all anyway? The afternoon showings make it convenient.
Once I step foot in New Orleans there’s no way I’m driving back that same night.
G.
The city administration would fuck up a one car funeral.
"There's no excuse for having this problem and these are simple maintenance issues that need to be attended to on a regular basis by the proper skilled staff."
This statement applies to every one of Jackson's problems.
Great job Kingfish your answer to the problem is to send people out of state . This will never happen in any Louiana city. We don’t take down our own, we get together to solve our problems.
Please name the last time Jackson solved a problem. Water? Garbage? Crime? Potholes?
