Summit officer deceased, while two McComb officers wounded indicates McComb responded after the stop. Always have two LEO vehicles present at any stop. If your budget won't allow that, don't pull anybody over. Period.
Just awful. I'm sorry for his family and fellow officers.
3:42, curious, what is your background and expertise?
Prayers for all the officers and their families.
Devastating news for the family. The McComb area appears to be just as bad as Jackson in many regards. Lots of gang activity. He lost his life serving the law abiding citizens of his community.
This is why officers have to treat traffic stops like life-and-death situations.
They don't know what's going on in the car they are stopping.
Let’s wait until the facts come out before deciding who is at fault.
Every time an officer pulls someone over, He/she needs to assume this will happen. If I were pulled over, I would assume the officer was getting ready to shoot me and knowing that, I need to be very careful. There is absolutely NO reason for an officer to die just to cut me some slack and assume I am honest and not getting ready to shoot him/her.
Prayers for our men and women in blue and their families. They put their lives on the line everyday.
It started as a police checkpoint near West Railroad Avenue in Summit when a passenger in a PASSING car opened fire.
Fact: perp shot 2 officers. Fact: perp found guilty and sentenced immediately.
I don’t understand why they’d have a “checkpoint” on a regular ole Thursday afternoon anyway.
Not victim shaming, and it’s an unspeakable tragedy for his family, friends, and fellow officers. Just seems really unnecessary.
The “perp found guilty and sentenced immediately” doesn’t bring back the murdered officer, doesn’t take away the pain his loved ones are experiencing now, will never replace the husband, father and/or grandfather that is no longer here.
Extreme glorification of violence via the entertainment industry, the defund/abolish the police leftist rhetoric and the purposeful chaos including soft on criminals catch & release systems leftists use to forever take total control of large cities, with all of the money that comes with said control – are actions – and actions have reactions. This is an unbreakable law of nature.
Doesn’t matter that it happened in a small town. Doesn’t matter who the perp ends up being. This purposeful glorification of violence and chaos is taking its toll on the country. And odds are high, it’s going to get a whole lot worse.
Prayers for the officers family.

I know Goon Squad types exist, and I have not been pulled over in quite some time because...well, I try to obey the law.
But, I assume every cop is approaching my car not knowing if I plan to murder them and I act accordingly. Can't imagine how scared I would be to approach strangers with a higher propensity for crime and murder all day, as they do.
I am so sorry for this family's loss.
The “Defund the Police “movement has caused violence against police officers to increase. Democrat Party leaders have waged verbal warfare against police officers since 2020. Kamala Harris and her VP selection both supported this movement. We are seeing the results.
